    3-Unit Play. Take #922 Houston (-125) over Boston (7 p.m., Saturday, May 25)
The Astros have been dominant at home with a 19-6 record and with the defending Champs in town they will be ready to show they want their crown back. Houston will send surprising journeyman Brad Peacock to the hill in game two of this 3 game set. Peacock is 5-2 with an ERA under 4, which has been a nice treat for the Houston staff. This should be a well played game from the first pitch but the Astros just snapped a two-game skid so they will keep it going with another W.

Best of luck - Strike Point Sports

            (905) Arizona Diamondbacks at (906) San Francisco Giants

The Diamondbacks earned a Friday night victory after a handful of consecutive losses and did so scoring 18 runs. The D'Backs had averaged 2.4 runs per game during its losing streak but notched a season high in runs on a season-high 21 over the Giants and in ATT Park.

If and when ATT Park is giving up runs the air density is typically low and the result is higher exit velocity and more home runs.

Arizona called up Taylor Clarke from Triple-A Reno to make his second career start. He earned a win in Florida earlier this month with a two run sixing inning performance against the Rays. Clarke’s situation is a bit different than most pre-prime long-time farmhand grinders. Clarke earned a save on April 20 working three scoreless innings in a team win over the Cubs. The 25-year old is mature and savvy beyond his years. Something that riding a bus for a half a decade from Double-A city to Double-A city. The maturity and baseball IQ attacks one while in the minor leagues. The sharp one's learn and those whom never met expectations were typically the contrary to Clarke.

A second start, a second win and possible a spot in long relief of the backside of the rotation is awaiting Clarke. And he couldn't have a better matchup to make that happen.

The Giants are slashing 219/283/379 against right-handed pitching with only the Blue Jays, Detroit and Miami checking in with lower OPS numbers than the Giants (.662).

Suarez, who earned satisfactory surface numbers as a San Fran rookie a season ago began 2019 on the farm. He made his season debut in last Monday’s 4-1 loss to Atlanta allowing three runs in six innings. The Giants are grabbing at straws. They can't hit, they can't pitch and they are destined to end the season at the bottom of the NL West and be a seller at the trade deadline with Mad Max being the most likely to go.

Suarez, who posted a 6.33 ERA in six starts for Triple-A Sacramento before last Monday’s promotion, simply doesn't miss enough bats to be trustworthy, especially against a Diamondbacks lineup that has squashed left-handed pitching for the third straight season. Suarez finished last season with a 4.49 ERA and did so with an career best BB% and an excellent 51.3% GB%.

The Diamondbacks have, for a second straight season, crushed left-handed pitching. As a team they have scored more runs against lefties than Houston and Los Angeles. More than the Mile High gang in Colorado and have scored 25 more runs than the Red Sox . Granted the Diamondbacks have had more at bats against southpaws across the seasons but they own a .839 OPS in this situation which is nearly equal to that of Houston who is on a MLB records setting pace for runs above league average.

The Giants SS Brandon Crawford has missed the past two games due to conjunctivitis (pink eye) and is doubtful tonight and all things being equal the price point on Clarke and the 'Backs is over-the-top value.

            LIST PITCHERS: Soroka and Hudson

I am going to push the analysis of this Senior Circuit affair in summary form - rather than my typical wordy and lengthy fashion.

Soroka is not as good as his 1.01 ERA might lead some to believe. He is still a baby in terms of a Major League arm... And a number of his underlying peripherals scream regression. However, regression to a 1.01 ERA isn't a unsightly as regression for a big league arm that has a 5-plus ERA... which is what this game presents.

The 21-year-old Braves right-hander has not allowed more than one earned run in any of his seven starts, and the home run he allowed in his last start against the Giants was just the second in his 70-plus innings of big boy baseball. He throws an extremely heavy ball and has held opposing bats to a .159 batting average against. He faced the Birds in May and held them to three hits in seven shutout innings.

You will hear, read and even believe if you are a St Louis fan that young Hudson has been solid overall in May. The truth is that Hudson is not ready to be in the rotation of a history-rich organization with a savvy fan base. And if a team needs a win, wants to manufacture a win then stacking the lineup with left-handed bats against Hudson makes a victory a high probability especially with Soroka on the mound defending a lead.

The mediocre Texas Rangers crushed Hudson by loading the lineup card wit h six lefties and two switch-hitters in their matchup against the Cards righty. The Rangers earned a 8-2 victory. I could go on about Hudson and his liabilities. He has allowed lefties to hit .388 this season.
Hudson has made 10 starts for the Cardinals. He is 3-3 with a 4.40 ERA and has just 36 K's to 22 walks. His walk rate is not just problematic it is an implosion waiting to happen with a K percentage of just 16. His HR/9 innings pitched is close to 2.0 and opponents are barreling him up for a 41 percent hard contact rate....

Atlanta's Mike Soroka has the inside track at the Rookie of the Year award and maybe even the Cy Young. He has great command of both the four-seam and two-seam fastball, guiding him to a 5-1 record with a sparkling 1.01 ERA after 44.2 innings this season. I was amazed by his demeanor and confidence last year at age 20. Meanwhile, the Cards run out Dakota Hudson, who has been 30 cents below average in his home starts, carrying a 4.40 ERA and 5.51 FIP. The 24-year old righty is striking out 6.89 per nine innings and walking 4.21 per nine. St. Louis has lost 14 of its past 19 games. Take the Braves.

It's time for coach Mike Budenholzer and the Bucks to make some adjustments. Milwaukee still has the better team and is getting points in this elimination game. The Raptors shot just 38 percent from the field but hit 18 three-pointers, thanks to Fred VanVleet, who hit seven of them. Milwaukee has too much firepower and will make the correct adjustments to win Game 6 on Saturday.

Down 3-2, the Bucks face a must-win game on Saturday in Game 6. Expect them to play with a fire and focus that you see in teams facing elimination. In addition, Fred VanVleet should start regressing to the norm. A career 39.4 percent three-point shooter, he has made 10-of-12 (83.3 percent) three-pointers in the last two games. Give me the NBA's best team over 82 games -- Milwaukee -- getting points in a must-win spot.

Both these pitchers were a little inconsistent to start the season, but both have put it together as of late. Yusei Kikuchi is 2-0 with a 2.03 ERA in his last four starts while Mike Fiers posted a 2.53 ERA over his last five starts. The Athletics are fourth in the league at scoring runs against lefties, and they’ve won their last four in a row going 7-3 in their last 10 games. The Mariners are on the complete opposite trajectory losing four in a row and going 3-7 in their last 10 games. I like the streaking Athletics at home.

Taylor Clarke will be recalled from Triple A for the Diamondbacks to make his second career start. He went six innings only giving up two runs to the Rays in his first outing. Andrew Suarez also just made his first start of the season throwing six innings giving up three runs against the Braves. However, he went 1-2 with a 7.16 ERA in three starts against the Dbacks last season. The Dbacks improved their league-best run scoring offense against lefties last night, I like them to back up that performance today.

The wind is blowing out in KC, but it's still one of the more pitcher friendly parks in the league, and this total is too high. Yankees starter JA Happ has been longball prone, but the Royals have been one of the weaker offenses in baseball against lefties, so I'm not sure how much they'll make him pay for it.

During the regular season, Milwaukee made 35.3% of its three pointers, and made 47.6% of its shots overall. In this series against Toronto the Bucks are 30.3% from three and 42.8% overall. The Raptors have figured them out defensively, and I while the Bucks could rebound tonight, it's harder to count on that happening on the road in an elimination game. Toronto moves on to the Finals tonight.
