The Bruins are clearly the better team on paper, but an 11-day layoff is no joke. They had the longest layoff of any Stanley Cup team ever, and the two closest teams in terms of a layoff both lost the Stanley Cup. With the speed that the Stanley Cup is played at I think it's unreasonable to expect the Bruins to get back into the flow immediately. In each playoff sweep this season, the team that did the sweeping lost the first game of the next series. I like that trend to continue behind a stellar performance by Jordan Binnington and the Blues.

              L.A. ANGELS @ OAKLAND | 5/27 | 4:07 PM EDT
              12:22 PM
Trevor Cahill has been very inconsistent this season with a 6.43 ERA. In his only start against Oakland on opening day this season he gave up four runs in six innings. Chris Bassit has been quite the opposite. Although he is coming off a 3.2 IP six-walk performance, he owns a 2.48 ERA this season. The Athletics have now won nine in a row including three of four against the Angels this season. The Athletics are 17-10 at home while the Angels are 9-14 on the road, ride the streak.

              DETROIT @ BALTIMORE | 5/27 | 1:05 PM EDT
              12:21 PM
Daniel Norris has been inconsistent this season, but he sports a 2-2 record with a 4.3 ERA. Norris is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in four career starts against the Orioles. Gabriel Ynoa is making his first start of the season in place of the relegated Dan Straily. The Tigers have the second worst OPS in the league against lefties and the Orioles are right in the middle of the pack in terms of runs and OPS against righties. Both these teams are trending in the wrong direction, but I like the team with the bats at home.

              N.Y. METS @ L.A. DODGERS | 5/27 | 8:10 PM EDT
              12:19 PM
Jacob Degrom has been better as of late, posting a 2.81 ERA this month. However, Clayton Kershaw is 4-0 with a 3.33 ERA this season and is riding a 19-game unbeaten streak. The Dodgers are 19-6 at home including a 7-0 record when Kershaw starts, while the Mets are 11-17 on the road with a 4-6 record when Degrom starts. Lay the favorite at home.

              ARIZONA @ COLORADO | 5/27 | 3:10 PM EDT
              12:18 PM
Zack Greinke is 6-2 with a 2.89 ERA this season including 4-1 with a 1.49 ERA in his last seven starts. In his one outing in Colorado this season he gave up three runs in six innings. Jon Gray is 4-4 with a 4.62 ERA including 2-3 with a 5.4 ERA in seven career starts against the Diamondbacks. Both these lineups are hitting right now, so I expect the better pitching staff to make the difference in the game.

                    RATING: 4% PLAY

Colorado plays hosts to Arizona today and enjoys a scheduling advantage as Arizona played in San Francisco yesterday and has to travel to the altitude today. This is Game 7 of the road trip for Arizona while Colorado was home over the weekend. Yesterday’s win by Colorado is the kind of win that starts streaks. Colorado blew a 5-1 lead yesterday and rallied with 2 in the bottom of the ninth to win the game. Jon Gray goes for Colorado and in his last start went 7 innings allowing 3 runs and had a strikeout to walk ratio of 7-1. Note that over the last 5 years in Baseball, National League home teams where the line is +125 to -125 and allow 5 runs or more on the season when facing a Pitcher with an ERA of 2.00 or less in his last 3 starts are 39-17. That’s a 69.6% winning angle over the last 5 years that Colorado fits today. Colorado is also 22-6 the L28 after scoring and allowing 6 runs or more 3 straight games. On the flip side Arizona the last 2 seasons is just 14-26 after allowing 4 runs or less 3 straight games. My numbers have Colorado winning 6-4.

Tom Milone makes his second start for Seattle and in his first start of the season went 5 innings allowing just 2 runs. That was Milone’s first start since August of last year so I expect him to be even sharper today in this quick revenge game as these two pitchers hooked up last week in Texas when Lance Lynn went 7 innings allowing just 2 runs while striking out 11. My concern with Lance Lynn here is he threw 120 pitches in that start the most of any start this season so I don’t expect him to be as sharp today. Texas is just 8-17 on the road this year and 6-9 vs lefties. Note in his career when Tom Milone starts at night his team is 51-36. My numbers have Seattle winning 5-3.

7-Unit Play. Take Over Milwaukee at Minnesota 7:10 p.m.
This is a matchup of two of the best offenses in all of baseball and I think their will be plenty of fireworks in this one. Michael Pineda will be on the bump for the Twins and he is still trying to round into form as he enters the game with a 4-3 record with a 5.43 ERA. Christian Yelich hit his major league leading 21st home run last night and I expect the Brewers offense to hit a couple homers off of Pineda. Gio Gonzalez has been mostly good for Milwaukee but he was shaky in his last start and I think he will have a tough time navigating the Minnesota lineup that has hit the most home runs and scored the most runs in the majors. I expect a lot of runs in this one and for this game to go over.
