A couple of competent hurlers go head-to-head in pitcher friendly Petco on Thursday night and in my opinion, runs are going to be at a premium. San Diego blew a 5-2 lead yesterday to slip back to .500 on the season. Washington is 9-2 in its last 11. Joey Lucchesi (4-3, 3.96 ERA) starts for the Padres, while Washington counters with Patrick Corbin (5-3, 3.46). The Friars have won three of Lucchesi’s last four starts, as he’s gone 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA in that stretch. Corbin is 3-2 with a 3.13 ERA over his last five starts, which includes a complete-game shut-out.
Key Trends:
- Washington has seen the total go under in 38 of its last 58 after having won six or seven of its last eight.
- San Diego has seen the total dip under in seven of its last ten at home when the money line in the contest is set between -125 and +125.
The verdict: I think the stage is set for a classic “duel” on Friday night. Consider the under in this one!

MIXED MEDIA - Racing at a similar level as last race on May 12th at Century Mile. I think Cone has found a good spot for her, and I like her chances in this race. This filly recorded a nice speed rating of 41 in her last event. That speed figure should be high enough to score this time. This horse is tops in earnings per start. She looks sharp in today's event. BLUEBELLEJAM - This jockey and trainer have a profitable return on investment when they team up. This filly is in nice physical condition. Ran second on May 19th. Kettleson adds Lasix to this one today. I'd look for an improvement.
