A big total of 9.5 has been set by the oddsmakers in this one, but it’s well justified considering the inconsistent talent on the mound this evening. The Pirates go with the erratic Joe Musgrove (4-6, 4.44 ERA), who has actually been better on the road than at home this year, but who is still a poor 3-6 with a pedestrian 4.99 ERA in all “night” contests.
The Braves go with the volatile Kevin Gausman (2-5, 6.15) who has been poor both on the road (1-3, 6.35) and at home this year (1-2, 5.97).
The verdict: Pittsburgh has seen the total eclipse the posted number in seven of its last nine National League road games as a road dog in the +120 to +155 range and I expect that strong trend to continue here. Consider the over in this one!

My pick for this event is CHERUBIM. Batista has been sizzling the last month, winning at a nifty 20 percent clip. Ought to go to the lead and should never look back. The speed fig of 90 from his last race looks very good in here. DRAGSTER - Ran a strong last race. This gelding with Ramgeet in the saddle makes him a key contender. CLICKJAB - Solid average speed figures in dirt sprint races make this equine a key contender. Win percentage under similar conditions may be the key for this gelding.

WAKEETA - Gorham brings her back again. I propose you stick with this live filly. Have to like the way Gorham has raced this filly back into shape off the layoff. Horse is well spotted in this sprint and I think she'll run well today. SASSY MISS MARGIE - A good sign that DaCosta tries blinkers today and this thoroughbred in her morning prep started from the gate. Should improve. This filly is the longer price of the 'split' entry from the barn of DaCosta.

KIFFLE - April 19th is the last time we've seen this filly around. Have to be a little bit leery. This filly notched a speed fig in her last event which probably isn't good enough in today's event. MADAME EVIL - This bunch is a whole lot tougher than the ones she met in the last affair. Looked good on May 21st, finishing first, but no workouts since is a bit troublesome. SHOW ME SOME SASS - The very long layoff will probably be the downfall for this entrant.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - SASSY MISS MARGIE - Watch out for this thoroughbred. My data would suggest that she will sit chilly off the pace for most of the race, then with a slight urging from Quinones, will take the lead turning for the finish line.

I expect a respectable performance from this animal whose conditioner has one of the most favorable ROI percentages with horses running at this distance and surface.
