    STREAKING AND SLUMPING STARTING PITCHERS

    STREAKING

Cole Hamels, Chicago Cubs (6-2, 2.98 ERA, $465):
Hamels is another veteran who just needed a change of scenery. He has been fantastic since joining the Cubs and boy, the lefty sure is dialed in right now. Hamels hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last three starts on just 11 hits with 23 strikeouts. He and the Cubs hope to keep it rolling when they host their cross-town rivals tonight. The Cubs are currently hefty -225 favorites with a total of 8.

    SLUMPING

Jake Arrieta, Philadelphia Phillies (6-5, 4.31 ERA, $109):
The Phillies haven’t been as dominant as many expected them to be this season and starting pitching, including Arrieta, has been one of the problems.

Arrieta has been roughed up over his last three starts, pitching to a 7.47 ERA and an even uglier 2.11 WHIP, while walking nearly as many batters (10) as he has struck out (11). He has also given up five dingers over that span. The Phillies hope Arrieta gets back on track when they visit the Nationals. Philly is currently a +140 road dog with a total of 9.5.

    3 STRIKES

    SO WE MEET AGAIN

Marlins right-hander Jordan Yamamoto made his career debut last week against the Cardinals and threw seven innings of scoreless ball, allowing just three hits in the process. Not only did he impress on the mound but he also drove in a run on a bunt. Yamamoto will make his second start today, once again versus the Cardinals.

The Cards are an impressive 21-13 at home and will be starting Jack Flaherty (4-3, 4.28 ERA). The Marlins are just 2-9 in their last 11 games overall and have +190 odds to pull off the upset tonight.

    BOUNCE BACK GAME

The Dodgers had an uncommon home loss to the Giants last night, which means they've dropped two of their last three games at Dodger Stadium. Even with those two defeats they're still 21-5 in their last 26 games at home and should be in a good position to get back on track with lefty Clayton Kershaw on the mound.

Kershaw is 6-1 with a 3.13 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, and the Dodgers have won 18 of the last 19 regular season games that Kershaw has started going back to last season. San Fran is dead-last in the majors in both batting average (.224) and slugging percentage (.338) against southpaws. The Dodgers are -240 favorites for this matchup with the -1.5 run line paying out at -115.

    KEEP ON SURVIVING

User just won $25,000 in our Streak Survivor Contest and is four wins away from winning $100,000. Mctrap has won an incredible 21 games in a row and his pick for tonight is the Over 9 between the Royals and Mariners.

Currently the O/U for that game is set at 9.5 at many books but tailing the Over still makes lots of sense. Seattle has gone 50-23-3 to the Over in 2019 and will be starting Yusei Kikuchi who is 3-4 with a 4.78 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. Homer Bailey and his 5.37 ERA will take to the mound for the Royals.
