During their 7-game losing skid, Philadelphia could only muster a total of 15 runs. Over the past 2 night's, the Phillies have busted out in a big way, as they have scored a total of 20 runs - 13 on Monday, and another 7 more last night. They have also allowed 12 runs to be scored on them, and a total of 23 runs in their last 4 games played.
It's no shock that 3 of the 4 have played Over the total, and I am looking for tonight's meeting with Jason Vargas and Nick Pivetta to also play Over the total.
The Mets enter this game on a 6-2-1 Over run for their last 9 games, and they are on an 8-2-1 Over run their last 11 on the road. Starter Jason Vargas has worked just under 15 innings over his last 3 starts and has seen 10 runs cross - 7 of the runs earned - on 12 hits. He will be making his second start of the season versus Philly, as he allowed just one run in just under 5 innings back on April 24th against the Phils.
As for Pivetta, he has been serving them up of late, as his last pair of starts show 10 runs on 15 hits in just 12 innings worked. Both of those starts have played Over the total, and while he stands at 4-1 at Citizens Bank Park this season, his home ERA of 5.85 shows that he has been getting plenty of run support in those victories. For the year, 6 of Pivetta's 9 starts have landed in the Over column, including a 14-3 final back on April 16th in his first start this season against New York.
No sense in looking calling for an Under in tonight's meeting, as the bats on both sides have been making plenty of noise.
Go with the Mets and the Phillies to play their third straight Over tonight at the Bank.

My free play for tonight is from the premier matchup on the card, as I like the Minnesota Twins over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Be sure you're listing Jake Odorizzi over Charlie Morton, too, as I think the home pitcher is the right side when it comes down to it.
Odorizzi is in after allowing three runs in the first inning last Thursday at Kansas City, and then saw his 10-game winning streak come to an abrupt halt. He's been one of the most consistent and best pitchers in the majors all season, and he'll be out to avenge last week, when he lost for the first time since April 10 against the Mets.
The Rays' lineup is good, but it's been inconsistent. The Twins, on the other hand, have been a model of consistency all season, and will shine against Morton.
I get it, Morton is the American League ERA leader at 2.31, but he's also been relying on one pitch more than any other. And the Twins have smart enough hitters who will wait on the curve, and force him to expose his hand.
Take the Twins.

My free play is on the Houston Astros on the Run Line, over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Since every MLB wager on a run line or total auto-lists pitchers, I want you to be sure the two pitchers on your ticket, when making this play, are Dario Agrazal an Framber Valdez. If they are not the pitchers of record when making your play, disregard this play.
Since opening the season with 14 relief appearances, Valdez has made three straight starts, and is 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA in those outings. He should have no trouble nabbing his second victory of the season in his fourth start, as he'll be motivated to rebound from a five-run outing on Thursday at Yankee Stadium.
The Pirates' lineup isn't that tough to solve, and being this one is highly humid Houston, Valdez has the major edge.
As for Agrazal, he's back in the same humidity he struggled in during his big league debut on June 15 at Miami. The young righty took a no-decision after yielding three runs in four innings. It's tough in Houston for pitchers who aren't used to the humidity, as the grip on the ball isn't the same.
Look for Houston to light things up offensively, and Valdez to pitch a gem.
