Marcus Stroman is one of the most underrated starters in baseball. He has posted a 3.18 ERA and 1.261 WHIP in 18 starts this season. Stroman owns the Red Sox, going 6-3 with a 3.34 ERA in 14 career starts against them.
In fact, Stroman is 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA in his last six starts against the Red Sox, allowing just 5 earned runs in 36 2/3 innings. That includes one earned in 19 innings in his last three starts against them. Enough said. Bet the Blue Jays Thursday.

Soroka was hit by a pitch last week and seemed a little off in his last start when he gave up seven hits and two earned runs in 6 ⅓ innings against a New York Mets team that was in an offensive slump. Eflin has been Philadelphia’s best pitcher so far this season and the team has scored 19 runs in his last two starts. The Phillies have been hot against the Braves of late having won seven of the last 10 against Atlanta. The Phillies (35-27) are also a better team against RHP that the Braves (37-30). The set-up: Hamilton’s 3-0 to start the year and I think it’ll keep the foot on the gas for at least one more week. Last week Hamilton annihilated Montreal by 31 points and I expect a similar beatdown here as well. Hamilton QB Jeremiah Masoli so far has 924 yards over three games, while his favorite target Brandon Banks leads the league with 334 yards receiving. Montreal comes into this one having lost ten in a row dating to last year.
The pick: Note that the Als are just 1-5 in their last six in this series and in their five losses they’ve posted a total of only 52 points (that’s an average of 10.4 PPG.) And that’s bad news for this beleaguered Montreal defense, as Hamilton has so far posted a total of 128 points over its first three victories, which averages out to 42.6 PPG (but note, the defense for Hamilton has been even better, allowing an average of only 13.6 PPG thus far!) This one has “blowout” written all over it. Consider laying the points on Thursday night.

NEW JERSEY JOHN - Had a solid closing move in the last race, running the last quarter in less than 25 seconds. A similar effort today, and it's straight to the winner's circle. NATIONAL HONOR - Have to give this thoroughbred a good look. In recent races, has posted the best speed figures on the turf at this distance. OPT - Ribaudo brings him right back. I suggest you stick with this live gelding. Franco rode this horse for the initial time last time around the track and comes right back today. On June 9th this gelding shipped in to finish first and looks good right back. When Franco and Ribaudo are put together on animals the ROI has been terrific at +46. I like this gelding. Has the topmost earnings per start (EPS) in here today.

PLAYWRIGHT - This gelding finished outside the top 3 on March 24th and wasn't near the winner last race out either. The speed figures are going downward. RIENDO - A stretch-runner like this one needs an early speed duel to set things up and he isn't likely to get one this time out. The speed rating last race out doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the Equibase class figure of today's contest. Mark this thoroughbred as a likely underpriced contender.
