My 1000♦ Winner is on the WASHINGTON NATIONALS in their National League East clash against the Philadelphia Phillies. As of 6 am pacific, the line I see is Nationals -105. Be sure to list Sanchez and Arrieta.
Today's Analysis
The Washington Nationals will snag this series finale tonight, and in this one be sure you're listing the scheduled starting pitchers Anibal Sanchez and Jake Arrieta.
The Nationals are sitting in second place, and boast a record of 27-17 against National League East foes. Their offense is heating up at the right time, with an on-base percentage of .325, which ranks fourth in the league, led by Juan Soto, who has a team-high OBP of .403.
After yesterday's 4-3 road win, the momentum is in Washington's favor, as I think Soto will be able to get to Arrieta, after he went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in yesterday's win.
And there's more bad news for Arrieta, who also must contend with the power of Anthony Rendon, who leads the Nationals with 20 home runs home runs and is slugging .606, and also Adam Eaton, who has stroked 13 hits and is batting .351 over the last 10 games for them.
The Nationals have won 8 of 10 and over that time frame has outscored opponents by 16 runs, and now they look to tee off on Arrieta, who is dealing with bone spur issues in his right elbow. The problem has already affected his pitching for much of this season, which is why he has an elevated ERA, at 4.67.
I'd rather back the Nationals, who are also getting production from their staff, which has produced a 2.18 ERA during this 10-game run. Which is where Sanchez comes in. The right-hander starts in place of Max Scherzer, who was pulled from this start because of back tightness.
Sanchez will be just fine, as he's pitched well of late, going 5-0 with a 2.11 ERA in his last eight starts. He's also pitched six innings in six of his last seven outings. He'll neutralize the Phillies lineup and keep the Nationals in this game.
Just six games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves, the Nationals will ride their four-game win streak into this one and continue with a wealth of momentum.
I'm on the opposite Side Big By the Way!

Anibal Sanchez is 5-6 with a 3.66 ERA this season but he is 5-0 with a 2.11 ERA in his last eight starts. Jake Arrieta is 8-7 with a 4.67 ERA this season but he has given up 14 runs in his last three games and he is pitching through a bone spur in his elbow. The Nationals have won 17 of their last 21 and they are 9-4 against the Phillies this season. The Phillies are 9-23 as the underdog and 0-4 as the home underdog. Take the value in the Nationals.

Reynaldo Lopez is 4-8 with a 6.34 ERA this season and 1-4 with a 6.59 ERA on the road. Brett Anderson is 9-5 with a 3.86 ERA and he has thrown five quality starts in his last six outings. The Athletics have won nine of their last 11 games and the White Sox are 17-26 on the road. Lay the home favorite.

Jacob Degrom is 4-7 with a 3.27 ERA this season, but he has one win in his last 10 starts despite a 3.27 ERA in that span. Sandy Alcantara is 4-8 with a 3.82 ERA but he has thrown a shutout against the Marlins this season. Degrom has faced the Marlins three times this season but the most recent outing he gave up six earned runs in five innings. The Mets are 18-32 on the road and 7-9 as the road favorite. The Mets are 5-13 when Degrom starts. Take the value in the Marlins.

Mike Soroka is 9-1 with a 2.42 ERA this season and 5-0 with a 1.29 ERA on the road. Cal Quantrill is 2-2 with a 4.83 ERA and he is 1-1 with a 4.98 ERA at home including four starts. In Soroka’s outing against the Padres this season, he gave up one run in six innings pitched. The Braves are 14-5 as the road favorite and 12-3 when Soroka starts. Take the value in the Braves.

The Diamondbacks have the pitching edge, with All-Star Zack Greinke (10-3, 2.73 ERA) facing Adam Wainwright (5-7, 4.31), who had his start pushed back from Friday because of back spasms. And Arizona has won four of five while St. Louis has lost three of four. My model says the D-backs win well over 50 percent of the time, so you're getting great value with Arizona at this price. Take the D-backs.

My model says the A's win this game almost 80 percent of the time, so you're getting excellent value even at this price. Oakland has won nine of 11, the White Sox have lost four of five and Chicago starter Reynaldo Lopez has one win in nine road starts. Lay it.

I realize the Marlins are facing reigning Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom, who has recorded seven straight quality starts. But in his last start against Miami, on May 17, the Marlins punished him for six earned runs on nine hits in 5.0 innings. And even if deGrom is vintage deGrom, do you trust the Mets bullpen to close out the game? This price on the Marlins is too good. Roll the dice with Miami.

Mariners +1.5 runs over Angels -125
Kikuchi/Suarez Right off the bat the Angels should not be huge favorites like this with Suarez on the mound. The fact that we also get to bat 9 times opposed to possibly the Angels only needing to bat 8 times is big too. This team has looked really good since their teammate passed away and I give them a lot of credit, but sooner or later they will crash back down to earth. This game comes down to the starting pitching and I believe the Mariners finally will put together a nice offensive showing. Take the Mariners +1.5 runs
