The St. Louis Cardinals have been playing great since the All Star Game and they're looking to keep their winning ways going tonight as they take on the Pirates at PNC Park.
Adam Wainwright takes the hill for the Cards and he's got a 4.50 ERA but has been just horrible on the road this year with a 7.16 ERA.
The Pirates are countering with Jordan Lyles who began the 2019 season just 31-52 in his career, while posting a 5.28 ERA. He enters this game with an even worse recent record than Wainwright with an 0-6 record in his last seven outings and a high 8.74 ERA in his last eight starts.
When you look at these two pitchers the thing that strikes me most is that they could both be out of the game by the time the 4th inning rolls around. The Over is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in Pittsburgh as well as 21-8-5 in Wainwrights last 34 starts vs. Pirates.
I'm expecting it to rain RUNS in this game from both sides. I know that the Pirates have struggled at the plate recently but the Cards have been in a great groove and have averaged 5.1 runs in their last ten games plus have averaged 5.6 runs against the Pirates this year alone.
Also, the over is 6-1 in their last seven games in Pittsburgh and Wainwright's career ERA at PNC Park is 5.69 and was lit up for seven runs in his previous start here.
