Pittsburgh just played a 4-game series at home against the Nationals and scored a grand total of 6 runs. They managed to score 1 or fewer in 3 of the 4 and have scored 1 or fewer in 5 of their last 6. Pirates starter Mitch Keller has a 8.86 ERA and 2.016 WHIP in 5 starts. One of those starts was against these Reds earlier this season and he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings of a 8-1 Cincinnati win. Give me the Reds +110!

The wrong team is favored in this game Friday. The Pirates are just 8-30 since the All-Star Break and don’t deserve to be favorites with that kind of play. The Reds continue to battle, and I like the fact that they had yesterday off while the Pirates played the Nationals, so they have the rest advantage.
Anthony Desclafini is having a solid season for the Reds, going 8-7 with a 4.40 ERA in 24 starts with 127 K’s in 122 2/3 innings. He should have his way with a light hitting Pirates lineup that has scored a combined 7 runs during a 1-5 stretch while averaging just 1.2 runs per game.
Mitch Keller is among the top prospects for the Pirates, but he has been a huge disappointment in the big leagues thus far. Keller is 1-2 with an 8.86 ERA and 2.016 WHIP in five starts this season. One of those starts came against the Reds on May 27th as he allowed 6 runs in 4 innings of a 1-8 loss. Bet the Reds Friday.
