It’s important for the Philadelphia Phillies to bounce back from their loss to the Pirates yesterday as they try and chase down a wild card spot in the National League. The Pirates are just 12-31 since the All-Star Break.
Vincent Velasquez certainly hasn’t lit it up this season for the Phillies. However, he is still the better starter in this contest, and he has a 4.71 ERA and 1.186 WHIP in six home starts this season.
This play is a fade of Mitch Keller as much as anything. Keller is 1-2 with a. 7.24 ERA and 1.829 WHIP in six starts this season, including 1-2 with a 10.47 ERA and 2.266 WHIP in four road starts.
Philadelphia is 22-7 when revenging a one-run loss over the last two seasons. The Phillies are 40-18 in their last 58 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. I like the price we are getting on the Toronto Blue Jays today as underdogs to the Atlanta Braves. Jacob Waguespack has pitched very well for the Blue Jays this season at 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA in seven starts. He just tossed seven shutout innings at the Dodgers in his last turn, which is no small feat. Mike Foltynewicz is 4-5 with a 5.68 ERA in 15 starts for the Braves. Folty has a 5.68 ERA in two previous starts against the Blue Jays as well. Give me Waguespack and the Blue Jays.Comment

The White Sox simply couldn't get anything going and have now totaled a mere 3 runs in their last 3 games combined. Hard to see them snapping out of that funk against Minnesota's Jake Odorizzi.
