5* Star Betting Series: Blue Jays {A** Bet - Wow, what a series this is! On paper, this is easily at least a 7* Star betting series. Accord to the Pythagorean Betting System, the Blue Jays are currently the 2nd most undervalued team in the league, while their opponent the Braves are the most overvalued team in the league. If this series was played earlier in the season, it could easily be rated as 8* or 9* Stars. The problem is, the Blue Jays have almost zero shot to make the playoffs, while the Braves are battling for their postseason. While it is true that this fact should already be accounted for in the odds, the reality is that there is higher risk involved in taking this bet because no one knows for sure if the odds have been accounted for properly. In other words: We don't know how hard the Blue Jays will actually try, now that they have virtually no shot of making the playoffs. And while the odds for the game have accounted for that, no one really knows how accurate those odds really are. The Blue Jays might still try 100% to win every game, or they may not try that hard, who knows. Since there is greater risk involved, I will downgrade this to a 5* Star series rather than it being a 7* Star series on paper. Historically, betting systems always work best when we know that the team we're betting on will try their hardest to win. When teams have no realistic shot at the playoffs, we just don't know how hard the team will really try to win to close out the regular season, so it is best to be more conservative.
