              Chase’s 8* NFL Monday Night

Cleveland vs. NY Jets, 09/16/2019 20:15 EDT

              Point Spread: -3/-105 Cleveland

This game features the 0-1 Browns at the 0-1 Jets. Both teams off crushing losses week 1 but for the Browns who came in as super bowl contenders this week 2 game is a must win. More talent up and down the roster look for this game to get ugly early and stay ugly throughout as Browns cover the number for an 8* Winner.

Let's look Under the total in this Washington-St. Louis showdown as Stephen Strasburg and Dakota Hudson keep the lineups in check this Monday night.

Strasburg comes into this start having allowed 2 runs or less in 4 of his last 5 starts, and the Under has banked in each of his last 3 starts, and in 4 of those 5 starts overall.

Hudson has allowed 2 runs or fewer in 6 of his last 7 starts, and the Under in that span is 5-2.

This will be the second time this season Strasburg and Hudson have matched pitches, the first coming back on May 2nd in a 2-1 final won by the Nationals. That was the last series meeting of 4 in D.C., and 3 of the 4 in that series did hold Under the total.

The Nats have played 7 of their last 10 overall Under the total, while the Cards have held Under in 4 of their last 7 games overall.

I would be surprised if this game sees much more than 6 combined runs the way these pitchers have consistently dominated this season.

Go Under in Washington and St. Louis.

                2* WASHINGTON-ST. LOUIS UNDER

Tough loss last night at home to the Dodgers, as the Mets postseason chances took a hit with the 3-2 loss to L.A. New York dropped 2 of the 3 to the N.L. West champs, and they will need to make up some ground over these last 13 games, as they now trail the Cubs by 4 games for the second Wild Card spot.

Even though they played last night and had to travel west, I am going to look for the Metropolitans to come up with a 2 runs or better win tonight as they play at Colorado for the last time this season.

The task will not be an easy one, as the Rockies have a little late season run brewing with wins in 3 straight and 5 of their first 6 on this home stand.

New York will send Steven Matz to the bump to face Antonio Senzatela in the series opener. Matz comes into this one having turned in 7 straight starts in which he has allowed 2 earned runs or less to cross the plate. Overall, 13 of his last 14 starts have seen just 2 or fewer score, so chances he goes out there tonight and slows down the hot-hitting Rockies appear good, especially since he earned his first career win over them earlier this season at home when he pitched 6 complete innings with 3 runs - 2 of them earned - allowed, and a season-high 10 K's.

As for Senzatela, he did record a solid win over the Cardinals in his last start, allowing only one run in 6 innings, but had lost his 4 previous starts and he had also allowed a whopping 38 runs to score in his previous 20 plus innings pitched. He does own a win this season over the Mets from back in June when he allowed just a run in his 6 innings pitched, but I believe the Mets will get to him in tonight's assignment.

New York is on a 6-2 run their last 8 on the road, and I will back them on the Run Line to up that mark to 7-2 with the victory tonight.

                  3* N.Y. METS -1 1/2 RUNS

QUARTER HORSE 400Y, A FUTURITY TRIAL FOR NOMINATED TWO YEAR OLDS, SEEKING TO QUALIFY TO THE FINAL, CONTESTED ON MON, OCT 7/19

                        # 6 A LONE HAND 5/2

                        # 5 ROWDY AND BODACIOUS 7/2
A LONE HAND is tough to overlook as the bet in here. Is tough not to consider based on Speed Figures which have been quite good - 62 avg - of late. Has been running admirably lately and ought to be up on the front end early on. Ought to be given a shot based on the decent Equibase Speed Fig garnered in the last affair. SWEET NIGHT FEVER - Strong gamble today with second time Lasix. Had one of the best Equibase Speed Figs of this field in his last competition. ROWDY AND BODACIOUS - Going in a short race gives this gelding a strong shot. No strangers to the winner's circle, Reid and Jeschke should have this gelding breaking away from the field.

                          Belterra Park - Race #7 - Post: 3:35pm - Maiden Special - 8.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $16,900 Class Rating: 67

                          Rating:

                          #6 SHE'S FLASHY (ML=6/1)

SHE'S FLASHY - In this race here, this thoroughbred has clearly shown signs that she likes the turf. Her speed figures are the highest in the field for this distance-surface. The 51 last race speed rating looks sound in black and white. A definite class advantage goes to this horse. That indicates to me she will be very competitive in this race on the turf.

                          Vulnerable Contenders: #7 MARINE CORPS (ML=3/1), #1 BEE BUG (ML=4/1), #1A GINGER KITTY (ML=4/1),

MARINE CORPS - Not the right 'placement' in this race. BEE BUG - This horse will in all probability be at the back of the pack as this group crosses the finish line. GINGER KITTY - I'm predicting a less than stellar go of it out of her this time around.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SHE'S FLASHY - This is an automatic bet for me. This filly is the top TM Power-rated thoroughbred and her rating towers over the rest.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #6 SHE'S FLASHY on the nose if you can get odds of 1/1 or more

                            # 2 TEXMAGEDDON 12/1
                            # 5 ATREYU 1/1
                            # 9 INDURATE 6/1
TEXMAGEDDON is my selection and the potential return justifies the dangerous nature of the long odds. He looks decent in this slot and I expect will be on the front end or close at the midpoint. Tough to pass on this gelding with Quinones in the irons. Have to sense that this entrant will run well following the quick turnaround. ATREYU - Has been racing well and has among the strongest speed in the race for today's distance. Earned a respectable speed fig last time out. INDURATE - With a nice class fig average of 79, has one of the top class advantages in this group. Profitable jockey and handler team, with a +18 return on investment.

                              Thistledown - Race #6 - Post: 4:10pm - Allowance - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $34,200 Class Rating: 80

                              Rating:

                              #2 CAPT BILLY BUD (ML=8/1)
                              #5 HORSERADISH (ML=6/1)
                              #3 LUNAR HEAT (ML=7/2)

CAPT BILLY BUD - Stalking speed. My associates and I like this animal. HORSERADISH - This thoroughbred coming off a solid performance in the last 30 days is a win candidate in my opinion. LUNAR HEAT - Murillo Rodriguez enters this horse in a spot where he should fit well based on his last two Equibase speed figures. The jockey/trainer pair of Bracho and Murillo Rodriguez has a strong ROI together.

                              Vulnerable Contenders: #6 BIG OHIO (ML=3/1), #7 PRIVATE DRIVE (ML=7/2), #8 TYPOTHETAE (ML=6/1),

BIG OHIO - The morning-line choice is shaky here with the lack of morning blow outs. PRIVATE DRIVE - Have to put a question mark next to the recent speed figure since it was garnered in the mud. A strong entrant that's been running well, but he's been off the track in the mornings of late. Won't be easy for this thoroughbred to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Improbable to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's class rating, so put him on the likely underlays list. TYPOTHETAE - When checking today's Equibase class figure, he will have to notch a better speed figure than in the last race to compete in this dirt route. The good effort in the last race may knock this gelding off stride this time out.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - HORSERADISH - Advancing each step of the way, this mount has recorded significant increases in his speed figures over his last two affairs.
