Odorizzi vs. Tuesday in Detroit isn't as effective as his surface numbers might suggest but his start versus the Tigers is equal to a plus-pitch. Odorizzi is 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA against the Tigers this season. And as I outlined in the intro to this game analysis his regression has dripped to the degree that in September the Twins right-hander has not completed six innings in any of his three turns. Versus a Detroit lineup that strikes out more than any other big league lineup expect Jake to strike out 10-plus in the six to seven innings he throws tonight.

Odorizzi has increased his K-rate this season which has helped him survive the juiced ball era. The righty's K% has increased from 22.8% to 25.1%, which has gotten him over the 9 K/9 hump. His peripherals point to an ERA in the low 4.00s, depending on how many HR he’ll allow. He’s allowing just 1.03 HR/9, vs. 1.88 in 2017 with the Rays.

Turnbull has not earned a "Dub" in Detroit this season. Turnbull has a final opportunity in 2019 and will attempt to garner his first victory at Comerica virus the slugging Twins. Turnbull is 0-10 with a 5.08 ERA in 15 starts at home this year, including a six-run outing over 4 2/3 innings against the Twins.

My newspaper contact at the Free Press all believe in the young Tigers right-hander. And to a man they claim that Turnbull has been pitching through some minor, albeit nagging, injuries.

There isn't much more or organize better in words than the Cleveland Plain Dealer crew that cover the Tribe. "Mike Clevinger will start and José Ramírez plans to return Tuesday as the Indians fight for the Wild Card. If the Indians make the American League Wild Card game, Clevinger has given his coaching staff a lot to consider when choosing that game's starter. Since the beginning of July, he has gone 11-1 with a 1.89 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 95 innings."

Santiago is learning on the job. He is experimenting with new arm angles and introducing new pitches to this battery mate. Santiago will take the hill in the first inning. Behind him expect to be Joakim Soria tonight, as well, even though the While Sox are unlikely to be in a close situation.

Game 2 of this series and we are following up a contest which featured: -5 and a half hours of baseball at the Rogers Centre -15 grueling innings between 2 division foes with little play for - 10 pitchers used by each team - 21 runs, 29 hits, and 10 HR with the 10th of which was a walk off home run ending the madness after midnight on the east coast - Dan Iassogna was behind the plate last night and he is a solid Over play for the AL with 10-5 record and slightly favors the home team as well...both of which came through Last night was the 17th matchup on the season of the 19 total times these division rivals will play and the 4th straight for the Jays...solidifying a season series victory after having fallen behind 6-7 to the much worse O's on the season. The matchup today also features a rematch of Bundy v. Kay from last week where both pitched minimal innings, but well, and the Jays came out with the W Dylan Bundy has had a woeful year record and ERA wise, but as most of you know this is not where I look to analyze much...and his numbers again the Jays this season are excellent with a 1-0 record and 2.12 ERA in his previous 3 starts facing the Jays. The O's have been one of the best offensive lineups facing LHP on the second half of the season and while having dropped off a bit more recently they are still easy to back in such a spot today, facing a lefty they just saw and with a starter on the mound who can last without needing the pen...something that is not common for Kay...and if either team needs any bullpen use it will be trouble with all the usage from last night. 2 major factors pushing this into the 5% range after already having liked the play a good bit. We have a very uncommon 70/70 situation which is something we always love to back....meaning there is a steady flow of anti-O's backers causing 7 out of 10 tickets (70%) to be on the Jays even tonight as a short home favorite- but 7 of 10 dollars (70%) on the O's tonight! Secondly, the home plate umpire tonight is the BEST guy going to back a road team...up over 12 units all by his lonesome behind the plate...proving Jansen Visconti is the kind who likes to make sure he is extra "fair" backing road teams in 21 of his 33 games...for a away team 21-12 record. He is also a pro to the Under, which helps us with Dylan Bundy side...who I also find easy to back despite having "terrible" stats. Better team with better record (missing Gurriel and Bichette AT LEAST - and Chris Davis kills it at Rogers) after a win at home in extra innings....yet the line is shorter than it was in game 1 and is rapidly moving toward a pickem? Ooops spot for Vegas...but we love this spot for the exact reason...they sure as hell don't care about such a game in the MLB following a huge take of a football weekend!

While Milwaukee is hot, Sonny Gray is hotter who take the hill for the Reds. Brewers should do well in this series and are in place for the post season but I like the home team here with Grey tonight against Houser (6.75 ERA his last 3). Just a mound mis-match on a pickem number. 16 games today, 14 of them have lines of higher than the fav laying -150, and game here smells like an upset of sorts for sure. Gray has an ERA since August of 1.46, and has an ERA against the Brewers of 1.78 his last 5 starts against them. Brew Crew hitting .208 as a team against right handers the last 5 games and Gray is a good one. Lots of the public will be all over the Brewers, I will be on the Reds.
