Baseball Playoffs. Time for some great action. I’m going to list exactly what I’m doing. Keep in mind there WILL be hedging going on if my SERIES ACTION starts to look like it’s going South – so make sure to return to check on any hedge bets. Remember – the FIRST GOAL is NOT TO LOSE. Bet smart – not with your heart. If you have an opportunity to cut potential losses and you don’t – go look in the mirror. Don’t blame me. Don’t blame the umpires. Don’t blame the players or managers. Don’t kick the dog. YOU manage your money. Managing your money and these plays is YOUR responsibility. I’m not here to make you a millionaire. I’m here to help keep you from going into the poor house and maybe make some side cash. Vegas was built on “LOCKS” and “GUARENTEED WINNERS” – that simply do not exist. The sooner people grasp that, the sooner they stop losing gobs of money each month. MAKE A BUDGET. HEDGE. PROTECT YOUR MONEY. And watch that bankroll slowly grow.
I am placing 3 Series bets where I think there’s value. All lines are from BetOnline.ag – but shop around for better value if you like.
ALDS – Series bet on NEW YORK YANKEES -220
NLDS – Series bet on Atlanta Braves -145
NLDS – Series bet on Los Angeles Dodgers -215
Unless you have a large bankroll, do NOT bet on Game 1 of either NLDS tonight, or the ALDS between the Yanks and Twins tomorrow. WAIT AND SEE how these series develop. The KEY is to track this and cover yourself if things start going against us. I’m not going to bet on the individual games until it’s time to HEDGE or when one team goes up in a Series 2-0 in these Best of Five matchups. If either the Nats or Cards go up 2-0 in the series, naturally I’ll be hedging and playing on them to cut my potential losses on the Series bets. But if either the Braves, Dodgers or Yankees go up 2-0, at that time I’ll put some extra action on them for the potential close out games, and ride it until they win. Of course, within my budgeted amounts. Rarely do teams that go down 0-2 come back and win 3 straight. It’s happened, and I’ve been burned a couple of times – but overall, I’ve made a LOT of money riding on the Favorites that go up 2-0 or 3-0. Elimination Games – in ALL sports with Series play – including MLB, NBA, and NHL, are an opportunity to cash in. Now, was I kicking myself back when the Cubs came back and won the World Series? Yes. But I don’t kick myself often.
So check your budget – and make a REASONABLE series bet on the Yankees, the Braves, and the Dodgers. Why am I not going in on the Astros? Because at -300 it’s just not a good value. Plus I plunked down a small amount on the Rays future to win the AL Pennant before the Wild Card game at +1400 (discussed yesterday). I’ll just ride that play until it dies or comes in.
As for the NFL tonight, if you MUST make a play – go with the LARams/Seattle Under 49.5. This will be a close game, as divisional games usually are. I don’t see the Rams defense opening up like a canyon the way they did vs Tampa Bay last week, and I also don’t see it being a game of errors like we saw on Sunday either. Expect a close, tough game. I see it as a coin flip for the side, but the Under 49.5 is the play to make. Again, this isn’t my favorite NFL play of the week, but I know the TV Tommy crowd will want to make a wager. So try and make it a smaller one as there are much better plays later in the week when we have a full slate of games to select from.
