Jacksonville - Can the Jaguars overcome distractions and get back on the winning track at home against the short-handed Saints this weekend? Absolutely! Offensively, running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 108 yards and a score, while emerging wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. added eight catches for 164 yards and two scores for the Jaguar last week. And then the Jags have the mustache in Gardner Minshew. Minshew’s 374-yard performance was his highest total of the season and the first 300-yard passing game of his career. The sixth-round pick now has seven touchdowns and zero interceptions in four starts this year. As an added boost, star corner Jalen Ramsey is back playing this week for the Jaguars. The biggest surprise in the Saints offense is not Todd Bridgewater’s performance; he’s been very good. Alvin Kamara hasn’t topped 69 rushing yards in any of the last four games and that should be their biggest concern. His counterpart Leonard Fournette has rushed for 512 yards on 5.4 yards per carry this season which offers great balance for Jacksonville’s win. —— Cleveland + WOW! The public really overreacted to the Browns performance last Monday Night. It went from Cleveland-2.5 to now +1. We are all aware the Seahawks offense has consistently put up points all season with a balanced attack. But their defensive secondary is their Achilles Heel. In their most recent game, they surrendered 395 passing yards against the Rams and their pass defense ranks 26th in the NFL as a result. Odell and Landry should chalk up the yardage. Baker Mayfield was awful last week, completing only 8 of 22 passes for 100 yards with two interceptions and should play much differently at home. Nick Chubb has been a bright spot in the Browns offense. Chubb was able to accumulate 165 rushing yards in week four against a strong Ravens rush defense, and 87 yards on 16 carries against the 49ers who have allowed the same amount of rushing yards per game as the Seahawks. Defensively, Russell Wilson could have some problems. The Browns are seventh in passing yards allowed per game which is especially significant as they have played three games without top corners Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams. This is a small spread as the oddsmakers clearly expect the Browns to bounce back after Monday’s disastrous performance.
