The defending Stanley Cup champs are off a much slower start entering this game on an 0-2-2 slide. They've struggled on the defensive end of the ice which could spell trouble here against an Avs team that put a 6-2 beating on the Lightning at Tampa Bay a couple of days ago.
Avalanche are 6-0 in their last 6 games as an underdog. Blues are 1-4 in their last 5 games as a home favorite.

The Stars are better than how they have started out the season. Dallas enters at 2-7-1 and only 3 teams have fewer points than their 5. One of those is the team they are playing. The Senators are 1-5-1 and own a league-worst 3-points. This is the perfect team for Dallas to get back on track against and why I got no problem paying the big juice with the Stars.
Dallas did when last time out, beating Philadelphia 4-1 on the road, so they do have some momentum going in their favor. Senators have lost 3 straight and are really struggling to find the back of the net.
Ottawa is 9-36 last 45 road games after 2 straight games where they allowed 3 or more goals. Stars are 20-9 last 29 after losing 4/5 of their last 6. Take Dallas!

JUMP THE TRACKS is my choice. Shows evidence of the look of a lucrative play, averaging a solid 80 speed fig which is one of the best in this group. The winning percentage shown by horses entered by Silva running at this distance are the best in this group. This gelding is a definite contender based on his earnings per start in dirt route races. FOREVER THE CHIEF - With one of the best riders in terms of profits at the window, don't count this gelding out. With a quite good 80 speed fig last time out, will unquestionably be a factor in this affair. I B EZ - Lopez will almost certainly be able to get this gelding to break out early in here. Ran a strong last race.

COMIC HOT ROD - This steed has been letting down the bettors as the favorite time and time again. Today's event is 6 furlongs. Hasn't finished in the money in a sprint event in the last couple months. Not the greatest of signs. HOT CHARLIE - No value on this entrant at the probable odds of 3/1. WOW THE CROWD - Never really did much at all in the last race on August 7th. Hard to bet on today. Notched a pedestrian speed rating in the last race in a Maiden Special race on August 7th. Not likely to see an improved performance off of that figure.

RARIFIED AIR - With a big class drop in class figure points from his Oct 8th race at Mountaineer Park. Based on that info, I will give this one the edge. This gelding is in nice form, having run a nice race on Oct 8th, finishing second. It looks like Fadlovich had to learn about this gelding on Oct 8th when riding him for the initial time. Back on board again today. The last figure of 73 is the top last race speed figure in the field. PEP THE CHAMP - I think this gelding is very sharp right now. I like the fact that Inirio brings him back to a race so quickly. A thoroughbred coming back this quickly after a strong effort is a good signal. Horse didn't end up on the board in last race, but did beat half the field, and made up ground in the lane. A slight improvement and this horse should be right there at the wire.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 HEAT ROAD (ML=7/2), #4 RED ALE (ML=9/2), #3 SHAMROCK ROAD (ML=5/1),

HEAT ROAD - Tough to like the downward spiraling flow (62/56/51) of speed figs. Difficult to bet on any horse in a short distance race at 7/2 when he hasn't shown any on the board results in sprints in the last couple of months. RED ALE - Don't think this vulnerable equine will do much running in today's race. That last speed rating was disappointing when compared with today's Equibase class figure. Tough to recommend since I think a 'bounce' is in the works in today's event. SHAMROCK ROAD - Hard to put any cash on this gelding on the top end. Likes to end up on the board though.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - RARIFIED AIR - I start with the class in the field then work my way down. This one's got the top earnings per start. No need to look further.

IN EQUALITY - Looks solid for the conditions of this outing today, showing solid figs in turf route races lately. Like the finishing positions in the last few events.
