Whew this line is wacky and I'll take the MUCH better team, great coach and underrated ranked team most bettors are likely just worried about missing Carsen Edwards.
Haarms and Easter will fill the void and stat sheet and GB with the very porous defense will basically allow it to happen!

1-Unit Play. Take #695 Wake Forest (+2.5) over Boston College (6 p.m.)

Boston College lost any hope for a respectable season when Wynston Tabbs went down for the year. They lost their two best guards, including do-it-all Ky Bowman, and what is left is a hodgepodge of young forwards. Danny Manning is not a good coach and Wake Forest is shaky as hell. But they are a little deepers and they have a little more well-rounded team than the Eagles. They have the best player on the floor in Brandon Childress and I think that they have a good shot to win this one outright.
7-Unit Play. Take #705 Notre Dame (+10.5) over North Carolina (7 p.m.)
I think that this number is out of whack. Do we really know what North Carolina is going to be this year? They lost their five best players from last year's team. Roy Williams is relying on a talented freshman class and a couple of transfers. But we have no idea how this group is going to coalesce. Notre Dame suffered through a nightmare season last year. Injuries and youth crippled them and they bumbled to a 14-win season. However, they brought back absolutely everyone from last year's team. They literally did not add a single recruit or transfer. So the same group of guys is going to run it back. They don't have the athleticism that this UNC team will have. But I think that they will make up for that with experience, cohesion and veteran savvy. The last time that Mike Brey had a losing season at Notre Dame he rebounded the next year with a 32-win team. That's overly optimistic. But I think the Irish can start out the season with a tight game here. Of their 15 ACC losses last year, 10 of them were by 10 points or less, including a six-point loss at UNC. Their three nonconference losses were all by five points or fewer as well. So 13 of their 17 losses were by 10 points or less - including against the team they are playing tonight - and it is the same team. I do not think that UNC is better this year than last. And I do think it is going to take some time for their young players to find their footing.
1-Unit Play. Take #712 Oklahoma State (-16) over Oral Roberts (8 p.m.)
Mike Boynton's teams play a really aggressive, deny-deny-deny, in your face defense on the perimeter. That can be really tough for teams to adjust to this early in the season. Oklahoma State actually lost its opener as a big favorite last year. But that was on the road. And they came home after that and beat three really solid teams by 22, 12 and 20 points. I think they are going to hit the ground running here. Last year Oral Roberts lost its opener by 34 points at Missouri State. They were also blown out by TCU (17), BYU (20), Northern Illinois (21), Missouri (16), Wichita State (21) and Florida Gulf Coast (20). Is it going to be different this year? I say no.
2-Unit Play. Take #718 Ohio State (-6) over Cincinnati (8:30 p.m.)
Cincinnati has a new coach, lost three of its four best players, and is slowly transitioning away from the outstanding teams that they had from 2016-2018. They still have Jarron Cumberland, who is a bad dude, but he has not been 100 percent healthy so far this preseason. Ohio State was a massive overachiever last year. This year they are going to be legit. They brought almost everyone back from last year's team, plus they added a point guard in FSU transfer C.J. Walker. The Buckeyes actually went on the road and beat Cincinnati in the opener last year. Now they get them in Columbus, where the Buckeyes are even better. I think they find a way to pull away late and get an 8- or 9-point win.
1-Unit Play. Take #726 UCLA (-16.5) over Long Beach State (11 p.m.)
Long Beach State always plays one of the toughest schedules in the country. They are a good mid-major program and always competitive in the Big West. However, this is a very clear rebuilding season for Dan Monson. LBSU lost all five starters and their top bench player. They are a mess. Last year's team, which was experienced, got hammered in the nonconference by teams like Arizona State (by 32), Mississippi State (by 28), Utah Valley (by 15) and Fresno State (by 21). They lost at UCLA in the opener by 11 last year. The Bruins still aren't very good. But they have a new coach and new attitude with Mick Cronin. They have some Top 100 recruits and decent size and I think that Cronin will want to make a good first impression with a blowout here tonight.
