Tulane -6 over Southeastern Louisiana
Tulane was not a good basketball team last year and in fact lost this matchup to Southeastern Louisiana at the buzzer last year. Tulane has lost 7 of their top 8 starters from last year and have a brand new coach so logically you would think it’s going to be another bad year, but the transfers have been really kind to this program. If a team like SE Louisiana got a player like KJ Lawson they would win the Southland Title. Tulane picked up 4 or 5 excellent transfers that are just so much better than anybody in the Southland Conference. I think this Green Wave team will struggle once they get to some bigger conference games because they have not played together, but against a team like this they should win. The Lions lost their top 2 scorers from last year which accounts for ½ of their offense. Once again, it takes time to rebuild in bad conferences. Big time scorers just don’t roll in season after season. Tulane has some extra motivation knowing that this team did beat them last year so they will not fool around. Ron Hunter is a top notch coach that will turn this program around. This is a game in which talent will take over. Take Tulane.

Look for the Raptors to continue their strong play as they attempt to take advantage of a Kings team that lacks quality depth in the paint after losing Marvin Bagley early and seeing Willie Cauley-Stein bolt via free agency. Richaun Holmes has been a strong finisher but can't really be counted on for quality rim protection, which should hurt the visiting Kings here. De'Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield are going to try and push tempo, so count on a high-scoring game. Ride the over, guaranteed.

  I’m a huge fan of Ohio St coach Chris Holtmann as he got the Buckeyes to 25 wins 2 years ago but even more impressively got an OSU team that lost NBA talent with only 2 returning starters to 20 wins last season. The Buckeye do have to replace two starters incl their PG but it’s not bad when you have 4th yr Junior who was a 5* recruit and took Florida St in the Elite 8 before transferring here. Cincy is playing its first season in 14 years without coach Conin who left for UCLA. While very talented with one og the top played in the country (Jarron Cumberland) changing the schemes and tempo from what the Bearcats did will take some time. Better team at home with very favorable line.

  Stanford is a program that has won 14, 19 & 15 games in Jerod Haas’s’ first three seasons so there is no looking past a team you should beat, especially at in the season opener. Every 4 years teams are allowed to do a “trip” and Stanford spent 10 days in Europe scrimmaging this summer which is a boost to a team’s cohesiveness. Montana on the flip side has different goals as they won the Big Sly last season and were picked #2 this year so they use the non-conference portion of the season to prepare for conference play. Montana returned 4 starters last season yet only went 2-8 ATS in non-conf action. This year the Grizzlies return only one starter and not all lost starters are equal. Losing a couple of players that were one-year starters is much easier than what Montana has to replace in two players that depart as All-time top 7 scorers in school history as well as a third starter who set the record for most career games played.

  Lundqvist had an extended rest both due to a smidge of underperformance as well as excellent ones from backup Georgiev. Well this ended rather abruptly and emphatically with his last trip between the pipes. HL's return tonight will almost certainly be short lived, as the Rangers will be heading to Charlotte for a back to back tomorrow night.
  Two fold uses for this info....the.Hurricanes are a wildly different challenge than the slumping Red Wings not even worrying of venue...but Lundqvist will do all he can to stand on his head tonight to prove he is still worthy of being THE MAN in MSG night in and night out!
  Teams in this home/road B2B spot are 29-14.
  The Wings are....rough to say the least. They finished October with a nice 3-1 W, had a couple days off...then brought in November with a whimper...arriving in NY tonight on the heels of 3 straight gruesome losses, 2 road and 1 home...being outscored 17-4 with the closest margin 4 goals in any of the 3 games...
  Howard goes tonight and also started 2 of the 3 previous losses....needing replaced by Bernier in both his starts after allowing 4 then 5 goals in 7-3 and 6-1 defeats. The Rangers aren't a light it on fire offense...but Howard SIMPLY doesn't require such needs.
  Rangers PL and in regulation line are BOTH highly in consideration tonight as additional plays...but with a small slate just playing it safe in case the Wings catch a little lightning in a bottle....Rangers certainly will not be defeated.

8 TDs in this game tonight? 1 full TD for the Redhawks on the road in Peden where the Bobcats haven't covered since 11/14 of last season?!
Miami had a NASTY non conference and sandwiched between bad losses to Iowa and UC was a 75-6 slaughter at the hands of the in state Buckeyes...where they actually led 6-0. Aside from this, in MAC play, the Hawks lead the league and rightfully so...doing it with defense mostly...and an opportunistic offense aided by TOs etc.
The market takes the whole picture into account and thus we sit with this line & total. While dog or pass is the only way I could go here we are focusing in on the 56 points tonight. This is off by quite a bit, understandably so....stand alone game garners TONS more wagers than any normal game or night. Additionally, more bets ( of course) are on the Over... This is a great number and spot in a game I see 24-20

This number is not as good as it would have been had we jumped on it earlier....but I still think it's the right side. Everything about the "look" of these teams and the fact it's the first game and the fact it's ACC conference play in game one SCREAMS! the Under is the play....but I see the Over looking right. FSU with Leonard Hamilton has the ability to go along with the opponent, and Pitt actually is one of the few teams who is returning a bulk of last season's point scorers (almost a relic nowadays!) and they also upset FSU last season despite barely winning a single ACC contest. Capel and Hamilton will both want to start off right in this game and I think it makes the defense a little out of whack for each team.
The Seminoles are a more normal 2020 type college hoops squad returning little of last season's Sweet 16 team, but they still will be ready to avenge a bad loss last season to the hapless Panthers and score every bit of 70 points in doing so. Vegas is telling us the first one to 70 will capture this W, I think it's more likely the first one to 80 can prevail...and love the value at anything less than 145 personally...I did buy the hook to get to a flat 143, and obviously like it even more in a teaser back below the opening number!
