7-Unit Play. #602. Take VCU -2.5 over LSU (Wednesday @ 6pm est)
Note, this is an early game as it goes off at 6pm. Will Wade makes it back to his stomping grounds where he was an assistant coach for 4 years and head coach for 2 years before moving on to LSU. Note, we are on a 5-1 start to the CBB Season and perfect 3-0 with College Ball Step-Outs so hopefully that will continue here. Per this game, LSU comes off a nice win over Bowling Green State as the game went over but I think this will be a tough game for them. LSU is riddled with young players with limited experience but this VCU team has plenty of experience including several juniors and seniors on this team including Evans, Jenkins, Santos-Silva and Vann. This team has a great coach in Mike Rhoads and went to the NCAA Tournament last year and this is a squad that fears no one as they went into Virginia last year and lost 49-57 (which is more than most ACC elite teams can say). This team beat Texas by 1 last year on the road, beat Wichita State by 16 at home and they lost to UCF in the NCAA Tournament who lost to Duke by just 1 point in the Tourney. So, you have a VCU team that is experienced, even better this year, has good coaching and faces a young LSU team and I think that sets up for a good VCU opportunity here. Note, we are also +2000 in the NBA to start the year and have a great 4* Today and oru goal is +15,000 in NBA/CBB this year and we are well on our way. Also, great 10-3 NHL Run and we continue to keep rolling. Full Football Research on Video tomorrow.
3-Unit Play. #577. Take Under 204.5 Philadelphia vs. Orlando (Wednesday @ 7:05pm est)
We roll with the Under here as Orlando has a habit of always getting up to face Philadelphia. The Magic beat them by 20 last time and have beat them the last 21 of 29 times in Orlando and an indirect way of taking Orlando is the Under - as they are on of the rare teams when they are an active dog they go Under. Philadelphia is supsect right now with Tobias Harris just going 0/11 from 3 point land last game and really struggling and they had to hold the Cavs scoreless the last 3.5 minutes just to win that game by a bucket. Orlando can be very good at home and they come off a tight game against Indiana as they fell short but as Steve Clifford talks about, this team is really committed on the defensive side of the ball and they have great size which likely neutralizes Embiid here with Gordon and Isaac. This is a Magic team that nearly knocked off Denver at home, they are very familiar with the Sixers and what they run and given that the Sixers are also competent on the defensive end for the most part, we like this game to likely go Under the posted total here. Note, we have a 7*CBB Selection today as we are 5-1 out of the gates in CBB for +2150 and a perfect 3-0 in CBB Top Plays and we can't wait for the 7* Selection today to move to 6-1 on the year for around +2800.
6-Unit Play. Take #602 VCU (-2.5) over LSU (6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
I love VCU in this spot. This one is all about experience versus talent. LSU is really, really young. They only play eight guys and seven of them are freshmen or sophomores. Several of them have not been in an environment like this before and they are going to be facing a very focused, motivated and hungry VCU team. The Rams have a great home court edge and they play balls to the wall for 40 minutes. This game means a ton to them. And with a chance to knock off a Top 25 opponent (LSU should not be in the Top 25) on the line I think that LSU is going to take VCU's best shot.
1-Unit Play. Take #614 Iona (-5) over Ohio (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
Iona is coming off a loss.
1-Unit Play. Take #615 Miami, OH (-2.5) over Fort Wayne (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
Miami, OH has beaten Fort Wayne each of the last two years. And those were better Fort Wayne teams than this year's rebuilt squad. Miami, OH has the two best players on the court and they are favored here for a reason. Better team, better conference.
1-Unit Play. Take #621 Ball State (-4.5) over Illinois-Chicago (8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
This is one of the tough things about handicapping college basketball. It is tough to get reliable information on player status. I am not 100 percent if Tarkus Ferguson, UI-C's best player, is still going to be held out of this game like he was in Memphis. If he is, then Ball State should roll here. The line movement - it opened at 2.5 and is now at 5.0 - makes me think no Tarkus. We will have to proceed with caution, but if you get wind that he is not playing then up this bet to a 2-Unit Play.
1-Unit Play. Take #626 St. Louis (-8) over Eastern Washington (8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
7-Unit Play. Take #634 Marquette (-1.5) over Purdue (9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
The Golden Eagles have Markus Howard and Purdue doesn't. Period. End of sentence. Now that Myles Powell is injured, Howard is the undisputed most explosive guard in America. He scored 38 points in Marquette's opener and I think that he is going to put on a show against the Boilermakers here. Purdue is coming off a loss at home to a shaky Texas squad (in a game we cashed in on Saturday with Texas and the points). If Purdue can lose to Texas, they can lose to Marquette. That is to say nothing of Marquette's solid home court edge or the fact that the Golden Eagles crowd is going to be very, very up for this game. Purdue is not the same team on the road, as indicated by their 2-5 ATS mark in their last seven road games. They are also in a bit of a letdown spot after taking that home loss on Saturday. A much better Purdue team lost its first three true road games last year. They are not the same team this year. Sure, they are solid. But you don't just lose a guy like Carsen Edwards (and Ryan Cline for that matter) and still be fine. Marquette will miss the Hauser brothers. But Koby McEwen is solid and experienced, and the Golden Eagles actually have some decent post play from their assortment of experienced 6-8 and 6-9 forwards. I think they will hold their own on the glass tonight and Howard will do the rest.
4-Unit Play. Take #641 Oklahoma State (-4) over Charleston (9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
I like Charleston. And they are going to be fired up about this game and having a shot to beat a Big 12 opponent in this mini-tournament. However, they aren't going to beat Oklahoma State. OSU is going to move up the ranks in the Big 12 this year and they have all five starters back from last year's overachieving squad. They also added a key piece in Jonathan Laurent, a double-digit scorer at UMass. This is one of the few teams that Oklahoma State is actually bigger than. And I think OSU's guards are going to be able to put too much pressure on Charleston's backcourt for them to hold up for 40 minutes. I love Grant Riller. He's a great player. But he's not enough.
2-Unit Play. Take #644 Colorado State (-6) over Omaha (9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
Omaha has gone through a roller coaster over the last three years. They went from one of the best teams in the Summit, to one of the worst, back to one of the best last season. They only have two of their five starters back this year. They lost two All-Summit First Team performers to graduation and right now they are without their three-year starting point guard, who is suspended. Colorado State has a nice home court edge and they have Nico Caravacho, who is a beast. I don't think Omaha will have enough answers.
1-Unit Play. Take #645 Providence (-8) over Northwestern (9 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13)
This is a massive rebuilding year for Northwestern. They are young and they are not good at all. The Wildcats lost to Merrimack - a team that has been D-I for about 15 minutes - by 10 points in their home opener. Providence has some top tier talent and they will be one of the best teams in the Big East this year. They have strong guard play and a load of experience I think that they can pour it on Northwestern in this spot.
1-Unit Play. TEASER: Take #626 St. Louis (-3) over Eastern Washington (8 p.m.) AND Take #620 Northern Iowa (-5) over Cal-Bakersfield (8 p.m.)
2-Unit Play. TEASER: Take #645 Providence (-3) over Northwestern (9 p.m.) AND Take #650 San Diego State (-6) over Grand Canyon (10 p.m.)
1-Unit Play. TEASER: Take #645 Providence (-3) over Northwestern (9 p.m.) AND Take #7360 Syracuse (-5.5) over Colgate (7 p.m.)
I also have leans on USC-Upstate over Virginia Tech and UT-Martin over Western Illinois.
