1-Unit Play. Take #688 Massachusetts (-6.5) over Rider (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)

1-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 146.0 Rider at Massachusetts (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
As I have said before, I actually like this Rider team and I think that they are the most talented group in the Metro. But there is no doubting that they just struggle to get things going early in the year. It happened in 2017. It happened last year. And they haven't played well in two of their three games this season. UMass is going the other way. They have looked pretty sharp in three of their four games and they are have won all four. The Minutemen have six guys averaging at least 10 points per game and they have a lot of options. Rider can get allergic to defense and I don't think that they can score enough to keep up in a shootout.

1-Unit Play. Take #695 Georgia Tech (+5.5) over Georgia (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
I love the Yellowjackets here and I think that they are going to get this win. This team was good enough to go on the road and beat North Carolina State in the season opener. And that N.C. State team is better than this UGA squad. The Bulldogs have an extremely talented freshman in Anthony Edwards. And veterans Rayshaun Hammonds and Tyree Crump have been solid to begin the year. The Bulldogs have been playing fast and they are off to a 3-0 start with two blowouts. However, they have played three just horrible teams. And they almost lost to one of them, holding just a two-point lead with three minutes left against Citadel. Tech has only played two games. But they have had nine days to get ready for this game and I think that this one means more to them Tech than it does to the Bulldogs, with Georgia Tech having lost four straight in this series. The fly in the ointment in this game is the status of Jose Alvarado, GT's stud point guard. If he doesn't play, then the Jackets are going to get hammered. If he does, then I think that the Jackets are absolutely the better team in this game. I think that Alvarado, who has had two weeks to rest his ankle, will be OK. And I think we'll get an upset here.

1-Unit Play. Take #725 BYU (Pk) over Boise State (10 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
Boise State has been shaky as hell to start the season. They got demolished by Oregon and lost at home to UC-Irvine. I don't see them beating this Cougars squad. BYU went on the road and handled a pretty tough Houston team, winning their last time out. They have two outstanding guards in Jake Toolson and T.J. Haws, and this BYU team has gotten off to a hot shooting start to the season. Boise is not at all a good defensive team and I don't think that they can win a shootout.

7-Unit Play. Take #734 St. Mary's (-8.5) over Fresno State (11 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
Last year Fresno State head coach Justin Hutson benefitted from a lot of leftover talent and experience. This year really marks the first step in his attempt to rebuild - or, more accurately, sustain - Fresno's success. They are starting three freshmen. And one of them, leading scorer Jarred Hyder, is hurt (hip flexor) and might not play. We still don't know what this team's floor is .And losses to Oregon and San Diego, as well as nearly losing at home to Winthrop, reinforces my thought that this team just isn't that good this year. St. Mary's doesn't care though. And they aren't going to take it easy on Fresno State. St. Mary's is a legit Top 25 team. They are very experienced, they are very disciplined, and they are very talented. They already went on a neutral court and beat Wisconsin and they are going to be much more ready to play this game. I see two teams heading in a different direction and I think St. Mary's is going to wipe them out.

3-Unit Play. Take #735 San Diego State (-7.5) over San Diego (11 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
I know that San Diego has the home court advantage. But I think that they are going to get run here. This team has already taken three losses on the season, including a home loss to UC-Irvine. SDSU is the best team that the Toreros have faced yet this season and the Aztecs also have a solid revenge motivation in this game. The Aztecs were blown out at home last year by their rivals. But all the key players from that San Diego team - including the guys that scored 65 of their 73 points last season - are gone. This is a rebuilding season for San Diego and it is going to take some time. San Diego State has some new pieces as well. But they are much more talented than what San Diego is packing. SDSU already has an impressive road win, going to BYU and beating the Cougars. If they can win there, they will win against a significantly weaker Toreros team.

2-Unit Play. Take #7629 Delaware State (+32) over Virginia Tech (7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20)
I don't think that there is any doubt that Virginia Tech is looking ahead to its trip to Hawaii this weekend. This game is just a nuisance.

2-Unit Play. Take #7637 Florida Atlantic (-3.5) over Florida-Gulf Coast (7:30 p.m.)
UF-GC isn't Dunk City anymore. They are 0-4 to start the season and they have some really bad losses. Florida Atlantic doesn't have a lot to hang its hat on. But they are a really deep team. And they demolished Gulf Coast in the meeting last year. Gulf Coast has nine new players this year. Only four guys that they brought back actually played last year. And they didn't play well. Gulf Coast only went 14-18 last season and their prospects could be even grimmer this season. FAU actually beat Central Florida, Illinois and Old Dominion last year. They have a few guys that can do some things and they certainly have more firepower than UF-GC.

2-Unit Play. TEASER: Take #734 St. Mary's (-3.5) over Fresno State (11 p.m.) AND Take #735 San Diego State (-2.5) over San Diego (11 p.m.)
