Friday comp play in the NBA is the Pacers as the home chalk over the Hawks.
Atlanta enters this road game with 8 straight losses on their ledger. While the Hawks did cover in their last game - at home - against Milwaukee in the underdog role, they have failed in 5 of those 8 losses against the spread.
To make matters worse, Atlanta is just 2-7 straight up on the road and a not-much-better 3-6 against the spread in those road games.
Indiana comes into this home affair having won 4 straight and 8 of their past 10. They have also covered in 3 of their last 4. The Pacers allow just under 104 points per game this year, while the Hawks are allowing nearly 118 points per game to be scored on them this season. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Indiana is going to run away with this game tonight on their home court.
Lay away with the Pacers who have each of the past 5 season series meetings versus the Hawks and 9 of the last 10 series meetings overall. Indiana has also covered in 7 of the past 10 series showdowns and will cover here.
When you simply do not play defense, then it does not give you a chance to stay in games in the NBA.
Pacers to pound the Hawks on Friday night.

My free play for Friday in college football is No. 22 Appalachian State at Troy.
The Appalachian State defense just held Texas State to 208 total yards, the fourth time they’ve held a Sun Belt opponent to less than 260 yards this season. I know the Mountaineers were dealt a blow on Sunday regarding their best receiver from the last two seasons, as Corey Sutton tore his ACL, but they're going to be fine.
There is motivation to win this game, so the Mountaineers have to be fine.
If Appalachian State beats Troy on Friday, the conference title game will be in Boone, North Carolina. But an Appalachian State loss and a Louisiana win versus UL Monroe would shift the game in Lafayette because Louisiana would have the best conference win percentage.
The Mountaineers, who won the inaugural Sun Belt title game last year with a 30-19 victory, normally would have their hands full with Troy. But the Trojans are having an off year, and while they need one more win to become bowl eligible, I don't see them being able to slow the Mountaineers.
Troy is giving up 33.5 points on 426.2 yards per game. At home, it's not any better, as the Trojans allow 30.4 points and 386.8 yards per contest. And over their last three games, the Trojans have given up 36 points per game on 449 yards.
Last week the Trojans were outscored 53-3 at Lafayette, and the nation's 89th-ranked defense is getting better overnight.
Lay the points here, as App State closed out the regular season with a blowout win.
