1-Unit Play. Take #717 Miami (+8.5) over Illinois (7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2)
The Illini may be a bit overrated. Yes, they are 6-1 and they have some gaudy numbers. But their schedule has been a joke. They've played just one team in the top half of college basketball - and they lost by 21. This team has serious potential. But I don't know that they should be this big of a favorite. Miami looked like trash in their holiday tournament. But Jim Larranaga has had a full week to get these guys back on the same page. I like Illinois to win, but I don't know that this one will be a blowout.

2-Unit Play. Take #723 North Texas (+6) over UT-Arlington (8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2)
I actually think that North Texas is the better team in this game. Yes, they are just 2-5 on the season and they have lost five of six. However, they have played a real schedule, with four of those losses coming against Top 100 opponents and three against Top 40 teams. Arlington is 4-4, but two of those wins came against D-II squads and one came against a weak Elon team. This team is pretty mediocre. North Texas plays a slow, grinding style. This game could end up in the 50's or the low 60's, so I'll take the points and look for a one- or two-possession game.
