VELVET CRUSH - The morning line odds on this filly are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of trainer Brisset. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins. This horse has recorded the best recent turf speed figure at the distance/surface. This is a fairly classic handicapping angle. Play a racer that finished runner-up in a maiden race last time out but finished well in front of the show horse. This filly is in the top spot in (EPS) earnings per start. Check out this horse in the saddling enclosure. Last out at Churchill Downs this horse finished ahead of today's morning line favorite. Potential play if the public follows the oddsmaker's morning line. THREE FLAMINGOS - It looks like Jaramillo had to know this filly on November 3rd when riding her for the first time. Back on board again today. This horse is for real on the turf. TrackMaster turf fig in last race at Gulfstream Park West was tops in this group. Came home in fast time in the last race. A positive sign.

She shouldn't improve and will likely lose today running that rating. HEY KITTEN - This mount ran a substandard speed fig last time out. She shouldn't show signs of improvement and will probably lose in today's race running that rating.

Could best this group based on the speed figure - 76 - of her last contest.

HAVE NO FEAR - Faces state bred foes today after finishing sixth versus 'open' company on Nov 6th. The Nov 6th race at Churchill Downs was at a class level of (82). Dropping down the class scale considerably, so she should be in a good position to win. MY MADELYNS ON - I like to play horses that faced open company in their last race and drop into state bred races. This mare fits the bill. This mare is most likely the strongest stretch runner in the field. Trainer, Leger, has been deliberate with this mare off the layoff. Look for a solid effort today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 LAGNIAPPE (ML=9/5), #6 AUNT BAE BAE (ML=9/2), #4 MY PLEDGER (ML=5/1),

LAGNIAPPE - I usually try to beat these types of chalks off the extended vacation. Didn't meet expectations when backed as the favorite twice in a row. AUNT BAE BAE - No good results for this horse in a sprint event over the last couple months tells me that this filly is in a thorny spot hard to play at 9/2 odds after the last two showings. MY PLEDGER - Doesn't seem inspiring to me after the lack of any type of closing ability on Oct 17th. Should be difficult for this thoroughbred to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Not likely to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's class figure, so put her on the possibly overvalued contestants list.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Hal - HAVE NO FEAR - At Churchill Downs on Nov 6th this filly posted a speed figure of 63 in her last race. She has the best last figure in the field.
