Race 8 - Maiden Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $14000 Class Rating: 59

FOR MAIDENS, TWO YEARS OLD. WEIGHT, 121 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $10,000. NEW MEXICO BRED CLAIMING PRICE $12,500.

        RECOMMENDED CHOICES
        # 10 POLITICAL LOOPHOLE 7/2
        # 5 ROCKY BAR SIX 8/1
        # 3 ARROGANT BEAST 3/2
I think POLITICAL LOOPHOLE is a very good choice. Has run soundly when running a dirt sprint race. I expect a respectable performance from this equine whose trainer has one of the top ROI percentages with horses running at this distance and surface. ARROGANT BEAST - There is a competitive possibility of an increase in speed as this gelding changes blinkers (off) for the first time. Has to be considered a key contender on earnings per start at the distance/surface alone.

          Turf Paradise - Race #3 - Post: 1:40pm - Claiming - 6.5 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $7,000 Class Rating: 78

          Rating:

          #8 SYNNIN (ML=4/1)

SYNNIN - Nice winning pct this rider and trainer duo have been putting together. He got a decent speed fig the last time he tried this distance.

Vulnerable Contenders: #4 NEVER GIVE IN (ML=3/1), #2 SUPERB MOMENT (ML=7/2), #3 PRINCE OF PARIS (ML=9/2),

NEVER GIVE IN - I find it hard to wager on this vulnerable equine this time around. Make him show you something in a sprint affair before you wager on him in a race of 6 1/2 furlongs. This horse hasn't been close in either of his last couple of races. SUPERB MOMENT - Doesn't look to have enough positive qualities to bear out the value. PRINCE OF PARIS - A 'bounce' is likely to happen for this horse today. May rebound next time.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SYNNIN - I'm betting on this one today. An easier group is going to make a big difference. Will be strong today.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #8 SYNNIN to win if we can get at least 1/1 odds

            Parx Racing - Race #4 - Post: 1:46pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $21,500 Class Rating: 72

            Rating:

            #10 CIAO LUNA (ML=8/1)
            #12 LEMON CRUSH (ML=12/1)
            #9 VERRAZANO VITTORIA (ML=2/1)

CIAO LUNA - It looks like Adorno had to know this filly on November 24th when riding her for the initial time. Back aloft again today. Last time out, finished fourth in the slop at Parx Racing. Should do much better in this event. Looking over this filly's PPs I see that the last time she tried this trip she got a rating that would be good enough to win today's contest. LEMON CRUSH - Trainer Farro gave this filly a good stiff morning drill. Last one was 2nd fastest of the day. VERRAZANO VITTORIA - The jockey and trainer combination here have a high win percent when they join forces. This filly is in first-rate form right now. Ran second last time out and comes back rapidly. She has the highest EPS (earnings per start). Take a good look at this horse.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 DOUBLE THE BET (ML=5/2), #1 ENIGMATICA (ML=9/2),

DOUBLE THE BET - One should normally not bet on a steed in the next run after finishing off the board following a long turnout. Couldn't make up any ground whatsoever on November 26th. Hard to wager on this time at the expected odds. ENIGMATICA - Tough to put any money on this mare on the front end. Likes to finish in the money though.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Have to go with #10 CIAO LUNA on the win end if we get at least 7/2 odds
            EXACTA WAGERS: Box [9,10,12]

            TRIFECTA WAGERS:
            Box [9,10,12] Total Cost: $6

              # 4 ACCLIMATED SONG 15/1
I lean toward PAPA'S MELODY here. Has run very well when travelling a dirt sprint race. She has been running admirably and the speed figures are among the most respectable in this field. BONITA BALLARD - Bettors should note that this equine runs with second time Lasix today. ACCLIMATED SONG - Has been running admirably and has among the most competitive speed in the race for today's distance. This animal could upset this lot at a decent number.

Tuesday night comp play is a revenge angle winner on Eastern Michigan in their near pick'em game versus visiting Northeastern.

Last December in Boston, the Huskies of the CAA won an 81-67 decision over the Eagles of the MAC in a game they were favored by 7 points.

Turnabout is fair play tonight in Ypsilanti as Eastern Michigan enters this game having last played on the 7th in a 55-51 road win at Detroit. The Eagles have allowed a paltry 57.3 points per game this season while scoring almost 71 points per game!

The Huskies come in allowing 68 points per game while scoring 73 points per game. My guess is Northeastern will have a difficult time getting to their season average since the EMU defense has been so stingy in compiling their 8-1 mark that has seen them win all 5 on their home court, while covering their lone lined home game to date.

Eastern Michigan features a balanced attack that sees 6 players average between 8-13 points per game, and on their home court tonight they will be able to avenge their loss at Northeastern last December.

Take EMU to run their mark to 9-1 with the Tuesday night non-conference victory over the Huskies.

                2* EASTERN MICHIGAN

Tuesday night comp play will be on the Pacers to make a stand at home tonight against the L.A. Lakers as Indiana cools off the Lake Show and their current 7-game winning streak.

Los Angeles has won all 3 on their current 5 game road trip, as their road winning streak stands at 14 in a row which is now 2 shy of the all-time franchise record set all the way back in 1971-72.

The Pacers are no pushovers, and Nate McMillan's club does boast a rock-solid 11-3 straight up mark at home this season. LA barely got past Atlanta in their last outing, beating the lowly Hawks by just 5 points and they will conclude this road trip on Thursday night against the best team in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks. Can you say "look-ahead"???

Indiana comes into this game having won and covered each of their last 3 games, and they have also won outright the past 6 times they have hosted Los Angeles in Indianapolis. The Lakers last win over the Pacers in Indiana comes back in 2013 when Frank Vogel was actually the head coach of the Pacers!

The Lakers committed 22 turnovers in their win over Atlanta and they also got just 42 points from players not named James or Davis. The Pacers saw their bench come up with 55 points in their last game versus Charlotte, as Indiana continues to get solid team play while they wait for star guard Victor Oladipo to get back on the court in the near future.

Indiana with an excellent shot at ending the Lakers winning streak tonight.

                  Take the Pacers on Tuesday.

                  3* INDIANA

                    Stephen DeAngelo

For Tuesday’s freebie, we’ll head to Madison Square Garden and play the Hawks as a slight underdog against the Knicks.

Both these teams are equally dreadful. They’re each 6-21 overall, including 3-10 at home and 3-11 on the road. The only real difference between the squads is New York (14-13 ATS) has been slightly better at the betting window (12-15 ATS) than Atlanta. But the Hawks are a perfect 3-0 ATS when catching less than three points, while New York is 0-for-2 when laying less than 4½ points, losing both games outright in the Garden.

More than anything, this game sets up better schedule-wise for Atlanta than it does the Knicks. The Hawks are off consecutive home games against the Pacers (110-100 loss as a 6-point underdog) and Lakers (101-96 loss, but covering as a 12-point pup), and this is just their fourth game in the last week.

Conversely, the Knicks had a somewhat successful West Coast road trip (2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS), but they’re playing their fifth game in eight days. And their last six games were played in six different cities (home against Indiana, at Portland, at Golden State, at Sacramento, at Denver and now back home against Atlanta.

Another reason to like the Hawks: They’ll have the best player on the court tonight in Trae Young who averages 27.8 points per game and leads an offense putting up 109.4 points per contest. By comparison, since scoring 111 and 109 points in their first two games of the season, the Knicks have tallied 103 points or fewer 16 times; between 104-106 points seven times; and more than 106 points just twice!

Give me the best player with the superior offense and the line value, and I’ll take my chances—especially against a Knicks squad that’s really not good enough to be favored against anyone.
