1-Unit Play. Take #702 Detroit (+6) over Northeastern (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
The Titans are just 1-9 on the season. But they have played an extremely difficult schedule. All but two of their games have come on the road. They were good enough to beat UC-Irvine, and they played competitive games against Eastern Michigan and Toledo, two teams I think are better than Northeastern. The line on this game is sinking like a stone, which is kind of a red flag, and I think that this game will be one or two possessions either way.
7-Unit Play. Take #712 Duke (-17.5) over Wofford (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
I still think that this Wofford team stinks. And they are coming off a lucky win over North Carolina on Sunday. I think that puts them in a letdown situation. Cameron Indoor will be rocking, even without the students in session. And because Wofford just beat UNC the Blue Devils won't be taking them lightly. I don't think that they will be competitive here with the Blue Devils, who have too much size and skill. I think that this is going to be a close game in the first half. I wouldn't be surprised if Duke was only up four or six points going into halftime. But then I expect the Blue Devils to settle down, put on the clamps, and run past this overmatched opponent. Again, this is the same Wofford team that got run out of the gym by Butler, Missouri and South Florida - none of whom are as good as Duke. Wofford beat a bad UNC team on Sunday because the Tar Heels were without two starters and their best player. They won't be so lucky here.
2-Unit Play. Take #715 Maryland (-6.5) over Seton Hall (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
2-Unit Play. Take 'Under' 140.5 Maryland at Seton Hall (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
The Terps are a solid team with some nice wins over quality opponents. However, they are coming off their first loss so they won't be in the mood to mess around. Seton Hall is without Myles Powell, one of the best players in the country. He wasn't a one-man gang by any stretch, but he's still a star that the Pirates will miss dearly. They are also playing without Sandro Mamukelashvili, so their two best and most experienced guys are gone. The Pirates still have size and will fight defensively. However, I don't know where the offense is going to come from and I think the Terps will wear them out.
2-Unit Play. Take #720 South Alabama (-5) over Appalachian State (8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
I think that South Alabama is the best team in the Sun Belt. This is their league opener and I expect them to win it going away. They haven't played many home games this year. But when they have been on their own court they have played well. This team is relying on a bunch of transfers and their talent level is higher than just about anyone else in the league. Appy State is solid, but they haven't been great on the road. And I don't think that they will be here.
4-Unit Play. Take #726 Houston (-12) over UTEP (8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
This is a tough spot for UTEP. They just played back-to-back games on back-to-back nights, beating North Carolina A&T and then handling UC-Irvine to win a mini-tournament. Now they are playing their third game in four days and it is on the road against a tough Houston team. Houston is coming off a home loss to Oklahoma State and they won't be in the mood to mess around. I like this UTEP team. But this is a bad situation for them.
2-Unit Play. Take #727 N.C. State (+7.5) over Auburn (9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19)
Auburn is undefeated. But I 'm still not as impressed with them. They haven't played any teams with high-end talent. And close wins over South Alabama, Furman and St. Louis were less than inspiring. N.C. State is a real team. They are just a few plays away from being undefeated and this team has won back-to-back road games against Top 100 opponents. They have exceptionally experienced guards and that is crucial to playing well on the road. I don't see them getting blown out here so I'll take the points.

Tonight at the Staples Center we will see a fantastic matchup in the Western Conference and shockingly defense will be key in this game. The Rockets come to LA off a close win against the Spurs 109-107 and the Rockets have cashed 3 out 4 'Under' tickets. Clippers won at home two nights ago beating the Suns 120-99 and that game went 'Under' the total. Clippers last 8 games 5 of them have gone 'Under' and their last 5 games they have held opponents to under 100 points. Defense will be 'Key' tonight and I see this game staying 'Under' the total. Houston is 2-10 O/U as n underdog and the Rockets are 8-20 O/U last 28 road games. Clippers are 3-9 O/U following a ATS win and the Clippers are 4-9 O/U as a home favorite.
