8-Unit Play: Take 237 Iowa State +3.5 over Notre Dame (12 p.m., Sat. Dec. 28)

I'm taking the points with Iowa State in a game I believe they'll win outright. The Cyclones lost 5 games this season and 4 of the losses came by a grand total of 11 points. They actually played the tougher schedule in this matchup and play a base defense that Irish QB Ian Book and the Notre Dame offense haven't faced. I'm not the first to point this out -- but ISU plays a lot of rush 3, drop 8, and I expect a little confusion from the Irish offense. Making matters tougher on the Dame offense is the fact they fired their OC a few weeks ago. HC Brian Kelly has been a bankroll burner in the bowls, losing all 4 ATS when favored, while covering 3 of 11 overall. ISU QB Brock Purdy is a dual-threat and gives the Irish defense a lot to worry about. And finally, let's not forget the Cyclones came a missed 2-point conversion from upsetting playoff-bound Oklahoma. I'm taking the points with Iowa State on Saturday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

2-Unit Play: Take 241 Oklahoma +13.5 over LSU (4 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28)

Peach Bowl

I'm taking the points with Oklahoma on Saturday. LSU opened a 9.5-point favorite and the line shot up in no time. The value is certainly on the side of the Sooners as is dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts. The Sooner signal caller should give the LSU defense plenty of problems and we've seen the Tigers struggle against dual-threat QBs this season and Hurts is the best they'll have faced. There are some missing parts in this one with a couple OU star defenders sidelined by suspension, while LSU RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is listed as questionable (hamstring). But the Sooners are all about value in this one and even if they fall behind the backdoor cover could come into play with Hurts firing the ball throughout. 2-Unit Play: Take 244 Ohio St. +2 over Clemson (8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28)

Fiesta Bowl

I'm taking the points with Ohio State on Saturday night. The Buckeyes have been money as an underdog, covering 15 of their last 17, while winning 7 of those games outright. They've played the tougher schedule yet own the better scoring margin. Yes, Dabo Swiney has been terrific as a postseason HC and QB Trevor Lawrence has been terrific over the second half of the season. But Clemson hasn't come close to facing anyone of Ohio State's caliber and the backfield of Fields and Dobbins is going to be a tough out -- too tough for Clemson in our betting opinion. Ohio State is being undervalued as far as we're concerned and I'm taking the points with the Buckeyes. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

COTTON BOWL -- Maybe It’s a plus for Memphis that coach Mike Norvell did not stick around after taking the Florida State job, given that he went 0-3 in bowls. But he puts successor Ryan Silverfield in a tough spot against more talented Penn State. The favorites allow just 14.1 points per game, seventh fewest in the nation, which should partly negate the Tigers’ potent offense. James Franklin stands at 5-3 ATS in bowls as coach of Penn State and Vanderbilt. Take the Nittany Lions.

Memphis isn't used to facing defenses and front sevens like the one it will see in Penn State. Plus, Mike Norvell is gone to Florida State. Then there's a Penn State team that has been inefficient on offense nearly all season long, and lost its offensive coordinator to Old Dominion.

It'll be up to the Nittany Lions edge and alley defenders to make plays consistently. I don't expect Penn State to sleepwalk into this matchup, as Memphis will treat it like a playoff game. I like this contest to be a tight one.

Yet the Fighting Irish rank 13th in scoring offense and 14th in scoring defense, a combination that points to clear superiority over the Cyclones. The Domers enter with momentum, having covered in four straight, while Iowa State flatlined late in its season. Most of Kelly’s ATS defeats came against ranked opponents; Iowa State cannot be found in the Top 25. Take Notre Dame.

CAMPING WORLD BOWL -- Notre Dame is riding a five-game winning streak and getting great play from its defense. QB Ian Book is playing well and the Fighting Irish look like a solid all around. I like how the Cyclones play defensively, and they'll be able to keep this one close, which is why the spread is low. However, I don't trust their offense to move the ball with consistency against Notre Dame, which explains why I'm going with the Irish.

Trust Book to help the Irish pull away late.

If you look at Oklahoma and LSU statistically, the Sooners and Tigers are almost identical on both sides of the ball. But after LSU beat Alabama and blew out Georgia in the SEC title game, coupled with the Sooners going 1-5 ATS in their last six, we’ve got a rating shuffle that produces such a large number here. But I like the Sooners to make this a tight game with a good chance of winning. Joe Burrow has the traditional Heisman burden, while Jalen Hurts has been in this spot before. Oklahoma to win outright is a strong possibility, but I took the points.

PEACH BOWL -- There will be a lot made of the suspension of Oklahoma's Ronnie Perkins, as he's the team's best pass-rusher. I don't think it's a huge deal, though, because LSU's offense gets the ball out too quickly. While I expect LSU to win, Oklahoma's offense is too explosive to get blown out without multiple turnovers. Even after Alabama jumped out to a 28-0 lead on the Sooners in last year's semi, they battled back within 11. I don't think they ever fall that far behind in this one.

I know the Sooners' defense isn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but neither is LSU's. Now, the Tigers are much better in that area than Oklahoma, but not 13.5 points better when facing a dynamic QB like Hurts.

Analysis:
Not a lot to say here but the facts are in. Clemson has the BEST Coach in this match-up. He has been to the Natty before (Often) and he knows the drill. His QB is absolutely the best, 20 TD's and ZERO Int's in the last 6 games. This is less than a field goal and even though I know that Ohio State is a very good team, Clemson is simply better. One of the key's in the Clemson offensive line which perhaps the best in the country at protecting the QB. If Lawrence has time this will be easy. If he does not his mobility will kick in. We su‘spect that he will have time and Clemson should outscore Ohio State even though we think the Buckeyes will have some success as well and because of that lean to the OVER. Let's lay the small number here..

How many people are going to look and see the Name Notre Dame only -3.5 against Iowa St and immediately think this is Free Money. Notre Dame is the Big Name at 10-2 while Iowa St is just 7-5. Don’t fall into the trap here. Where is Notre Dame’s motivation to be playing in the Camping World Bowl. For Iowa St playing Notre Dame is a big deal even if this is one of the smaller Bowl Games. Teams are always motivated to play the history rich Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Iowa St HC Matt Campbell is one of the up and coming coaches in College Football. Notre Dame has the 11th ranked defense while Iowa St has the 37th ranked defense but remember Iowa St plays in the Big 12 where most of the offenses put up big numbers. The Iowa St defense only allowed 3 teams to score 30 or more points all year and that’s playing in the explosive Big 12. Bowl Games are as much about motivation as there about Talent. Iowa St is the motivated team here and I have them pulling the Upset. TAKE IOWA ST +3.5 as my 5% MAJOR WAGER.
