They gave up just 280.8 yards per game and 4.35 yards per play in November and are riding a five-game winning streak. The combination of a stifling defense and newfound confidence in quarterback Jarrett Guarantano will lead the Vols to the win. The fact that a field goal cashes makes this one easy money. Take Tennessee.

2-Unit Play. Take #602 Florida International (-2) over UTEP (Noon, Thursday, Jan. 2)
I like this UTEP team. We've played them this year and we'll use them again. However, I think that this is a bad matchup for them. FIU likes to press and trap and push tempo for the full 40. And if UTEP has a weakness it is depth. I think the home team can wear down the Miners here.

2-Unit Play. Take #603 James Madison (-3) over UNC-Wilmington (6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
UNC-Wilmington stinks. And they are beat up. And the fact that they are home underdogs to a middling James Madison team here speaks volumes. I think that Madison will bounce back from a poor shooting effort against Northeastern and get in the win column here.

1-Unit Play. Take #611 UT-San Antonio (+3.5) over Florida Atlantic (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)

We've seen Purdue do this 100 times. They go bonkers on teams in their home gym and Minnesota is not a good road team at all. I think that the Gophers are going to get body slammed here.

1-Unit Play. Take #630 Western Kentucky (-3) over North Texas (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)

1-Unit Play. Take #634 Hofstra (-6.5) over William & Mary (7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
After a hot ATS start to the season, William & Mary is coming back to earth. This team lost as much as any in the CAA this past offseason and it was only a matter of time before they hit the wall. Hofstra plays really well on its home floor and they won't be taking this Tribe team lightly.

1-Unit Play. Take #636 Arkansas State (+3) over UT-Arlington (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
I just don't know why Arlington is favored over anyone. This is a bad team and they are going to be fighting for the Sun Belt basement. I just think that the wrong team is favored in this one and I like ASU to get this win outright.

1-Unit Play. Take #647 UT-Martin (+12.5) over Murray State (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
This Murray State team is not up to par with the ones we've seen the past four or five years. I think that they are going to be overrated in league play and I think that this Martin team is capable of trading blows with them. This tema is better than its record suggests.
1-Unit Play. Take #651 South Alabama (-3) over UL-Lafayette (8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
I think that South Alabama is the most talented team in the Sun Belt. UL-L is always tricky at home. But this looks like a rebuilding year for them. Lafayette is going to blow some teams out and win some games that they shouldn't. And this could be one of them. But they are also going to be inconsistent throughout league play and I don't know that they can execute well enough down the stretch to get this win against an experienced opponent.

4-Unit Play. Take #656 Utah (-2) over Oregon State (8:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
Utah is a young and erratic team. But I'm playing the home court advantage in this one. This team has wins over Minnesota and BYU here, two teams I think are better than Oregon State. They also beat Kentucky and I think that this group will be ready to play. Oregon State has not played anyone - I mean anyone. The yhave the best player on the floor, but that's all they have going for them. I'll take a stab with the Utes.

2-Unit Play. Take #665 Western Illinois (+12.5) over North Dakota State (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
NDSU is one of the best teams in the Summit this year. And they have an excellent home court advantage. But they always seem to play up or down to their level of competition. Western Illinois is bad team. But they can put the ball in the hole and they play fast. If they hit some shots they can put a little but of pressure on NDSU. The Bison only have two wins of 13 or more this year and I don't think that they will get one here.

1-Unit Play. Take #668 Colorado (+1.5) over Oregon (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
I don't like betting against the Ducks, pretty much ever. But Colorado has a nice home court advantage. And any time a Top 10 team is either an underdog or this small of a favorite it makes me sit up and take notice. I actually think that Oregon has played over its head a bit and they could slip up here.

1-Unit Play. Take #669 SE Missouri State (+9.5) over Austin Peay (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
SEMS is one of the worst teams in the OVC. But I don't know that Austin Peay is that much better than them. The Govs got rocked by Georgia earlier this week and I don't know how motivated they will be for this game. AP doesn't play any defense. So the backdoor should be open for this whole game.

1-Unit Play. Take #675 Oral Roberts (+2) over South Dakota State (9 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
Oral Roberts is obviously better than I thought. They've played well over the last couple of weeks and they are on a 3-0 ATS run. South Dakota State hasn't impressed me at all and this team is not nearly as good as last year's squad. They do have a great home edge and are undefeated on their home court. But they haven't beaten a Top 200 team yet this year so until I see I won't believe it.

1-Unit Play. Take #682 Pepperdine (-3) over Pacific (10 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)

5-Unit Play. Take #689 USC (-3.5) over Washington State (10:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
The Cougars are improving. And I like Kyle Smith as a coach. But Washington State hasn't played anyone. I mean, they haven't played anyone. Their schedule is ranked No. 350 and they have some bad losses to teams a hell of a lot worse than USC. The Trojans are back to full strength as leading scorer Onyeka Okongwu is coming back from an ankle injury. The Trojans have a nice blend of talent, size and experience and I don't think that Washington State is going to be able to get enough stops to get this win.

5-Unit Play. Take #693 St. Mary's (-3) over San Francisco (11 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2)
I just think St. Mary's is the better team. San Francisco is still really good. And they are an underrated mid-major program, nationally. But I think that this Gaels team is legit. And I think that they will end up going stride for stride with Gonzaga and BYU at the top of the WCC as the Gaels play their way into the NCAA Tournament. This St. Mary's team has actually tested itself in nonconference play, taking on teams like Wisconsin, Dayton, Utah State and Arizona State. They have played away from home a bit and that scheduling should start to pay dividends here in league play. St. Marys has lost here each of the past two seasons. I think that they will snap that streak with a win here.
