Scott Spreitzer 7-Unit Play: Take 144 Patriots -5 over Titans (8:15 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4)
I'm laying the points with New England on Saturday night. Yes, the Patriots underwhelmed on offense when the strength of their scheduled increased. However, the Pats are getting value at home and laying less than 7. Not only do we have value according to our power ratings but Tennessee is an unenviable wildcard spot in general. The Titans missed the playoffs last year and road teams in their first playoff game in at least two years have been awful for the bankroll, winning and covering just 2 of the last 18 going all the way back to 2007. The Titans' have been better with Ryan Tannehill at QB but since the bye week the wins came against the Jaguars, Colts, and Raiders, with the 4th win coming last week against a Houston team that didn't care about the contest. When they faced quality teams in games that mattered late in the season, Tennessee lost to the Texans in week-15 and to the Saints in week-16, allowing 62 combined points in the process. The Titan defense allowed 121 yards rushing per game on 4.2 yards per carry, along with a 70% completion rate (47 of 67) in the losses. New England has won 9 playoff home games in a row (7-2 ATS), and they have been absolute money in same season or previous season revenge under Belichick. I'm laying the points with the Patriots on Saturday night. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
