Marc Lawrence NFL Wild Card Game Of The Year!
Play - Philadelphia Eagles (Game 148).
Edges - Eagles: 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS at home when coming off consecutive wins under Doug Peterson, including 5-0 SUATS when playing with revenge; and home dogs in the NFL playoff Wild Card round home dogs seeking same season loss revenge are 9-1-1 ATS since 1980, including 9-0-1 ATS if they won three or more games last season … Seahawks: 2-12 SU and 5-9 ATS away in the playoffs since 1984, including 1-6 SUATS versus avenging foes … We cement the call with these three powerful angles for our database, as it notes 1) NFL playoff home dogs are 5-1 SU and 6-0 ATS all-time since 1980 when facing an opponent coming off a loss; and 2) NFL playoff road favorites who were an underdog in their previous game are 3-10-1 ATS, including 0-6-1 ATS in the Wild Card round; and 3) NFL playoff favorites who were a division dog in their previous game are 0-15-1 ATS since 2007 when facing a foe that was a favorite in its previous game. With that we recommend a strong 4* play on Philadelphia. Thank you and good luck as always.

Yes, the Eagles enter the playoffs about as injured as a team can be that still has its starting QB. The Seahawks also have the massive strength of schedule advantage, which isn't a trend I typically like to fade. But these Eagles prove year in and year out how resilient they are at this time of the year, as they're 5-0 ATS as playoff underdogs over the last two years. Home underdogs are 16-7-1 ATS in the wild-card round all-time, and I think the formula is there to exploit a Seahawks team that's not as good as its record. This should be a close game, but I like Doug Pederson to make the right game decisions and squeak out a win.

The Saints are the better team, but this is too many points to give a quality Minnesota squad that has lost by more than seven on the road just once all year. The Vikings are comparable to the Saints in yards per play, net yards per pass attempt on offense and defense and in other key metrics, and while the Saints have looked dominant lately against mediocre teams, their defense has looked mediocre against good teams like the Titans and 49ers over the second half as well. The Vikings can ride their second-ranked red zone defense to a closer game than people expect, while the Minnesota offense is also capable of covering through the back door if needed.

The Saints' offense is on its best roll of the season, scoring at least 34 points in six of the last seven games. New Orleans won six of those contests, including each of the last three, and five went Over the total. The Vikings have gone Over in six of their last eight games and should be able to contribute enough to get this one Over as well.

It's Kirk Cousins on the road in a playoff game, and not just any road playoff game, but one in New Orleans. So why in the hell would I take the Vikings? Well, terrifying as it might be, this spread is too large. No other reason than that, honestly. The Vikings have looked bad the last couple of weeks without Dalvin Cook, but he'll be back for this game, and Adam Thielen could be ready to be more than just a decoy. The Saints will win, but the Vikings will cover.

The Eagles are incredibly banged up and have been an average team for most of the season. The Seahawks are 11-5, but guess what? They're just as banged up as the Eagles, and their 11-5 record isn't nearly as good as it might suggest. In fact, the Eagles have a better point differential on the season than Seattle does. The wrong team is favored, I don't care what Philly's win-loss record is. It's the same team as Seattle.

This game will come down to Russell Wilson, who is 4-0 all-time against the Philadelphia, and Carson Wentz, who is 0-3 all-time against Seattle. The Eagles come into this game banged up at key positions. Meanwhile the Seahawks' addition of Marshawn Lynch is only going to take pressure of Wilson and help the running game. Seattle has played well on the road, winning seven of eight, and is 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings and 4-0 ATS in Philly. Although the Eagles are dangerous at home, this is Wilson's time. Seattle money line (-129) is the play.

I love Seattle. Russell Wilson played well last week, almost pulled them through. He'll have a great game against that Philly secondary. Marshawn Lynch has a game under his belt and the rookie Travis Homer played well. He's got a lot of speed. The Seahawks are better on the road anyway. The Eagles are so banged up and could be missing the right side of their offensive line. Philly was tied with the Giants entering the fourth quarter, and the GIants' defense is lousy. Carson Wentz didn't play that great. Philly was lucky to be in a terrible division, but this team is just too beat-up right now.

The Eagles have had to overcome so much to get here. That will catch up with them here against a Seattle team that manhandled them earlier this season in Philadelphia.

Minnesota's offense hasn't looked the same lately, while the Saints' attack has hit its stride. It's simply hard to trust Kirk Cousins in this pressure-packed game against a defense that finds ways to harass quarterbacks. Lay the points.

Philadelphia beat the Giants to muscle into the playoffs without its Pro Bowl tight end and its three main wide receivers, plus its primary two running backs and starting right tackle. Afterward, G Brandon Brooks (shoulder) was ruled out for the season. Seattle has been battered by injuries, too, but nowhere to the degree of the Eagles. The Seahawks went 5-0 straight-up in the Eastern time zone, including once in Philly, and will be bent on flushing Sunday’s stunning loss to San Francisco from their system.
