2-Unit Play. Take #817 Davidson (+3.5) over Duquesne (2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5)

The Dukes got off to a great start to the season, winning their first 10 games. However, a big reason for that was their soft schedule. They've lost two of their last three games and Davidson represents the best team they have faced all season. The Wildcats have gotten off to a bad start this year. However, I think that this veteran team will right the ship now that conference play is here. This team has tested itself against a challenging schedule. And coming off a road loss at Vanderbilt I think that this team will be motivated to bounce back. We have the better team getting points in this one.

3-Unit Play. Take #826 Rider (-4.5) over Siena (2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5)
It's kind of now or never for the Broncs. This same group of guys has been together for several years. They have a trio of three-year starters an Tyere Marshall is a fourth guy that's been a major contributor for three years. They won 22 games two years ago and then flopped last season, finishing 16-15 and missing the postseason. I think that they have a chance to win the Metro this year and an early win over their top competition, Siena, would go a long way. Siena has been terrible on the road this year, losing all five road games. And after a comeback win over Monmouth on Friday I think that they are going to be a little flat here in Jersey. I'll go with the home team.

3-Unit Play. Take #846 Illinois (-2) over Purdue (8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5)

The Boilermakers are a completely different team at home than they are on the road. Purdue is coming off a lucky double-OT win over Minnesota at home and this is a clear letdown spot. Illinois has been a major disappointment so far this season. However, they do have some undeniable talent. And they were good enough to beat Michigan at home earlier this season. The Illini has more than enough size to counter Purdue's big men and I think that the Illini will shoot the ball better on their home court. This is a must-win situation for the Illini and I think that they will get it.

  Of all the Playoffs teams this year is there a uglier looking team than the Philadelphia Eagles? Last week Philadelphia had to go on the road and beat the Giants to secure the division title. This week they are at home playing the Seahawks who resemble more of a MASH unit than a Football team and they opened a slight Home Underdog even though Seattle just played a heavyweight bout against the 49ers coming up a few inches short. No one believes in the Eagles as they are banged up as well and won a division that let's be honest was the worst in te NFL. Seattle came into Philly 6 weeks ago and won 17-9 and that was when Seattle was healthy. Seattle benefitted from 5 Philly TO's (if you get 5 TO's you should be able to score more than 17 points. Lost here is how well Philly's defense has played this year as Philly has held 7 of it's last 9 opponents to 17 points or less. I'll admit that Russell Wilson over Carson Wentz looks like a no brainer but here's the intriging part we haven't seen Wentz in a Playoff game yet not because he couldn't lead his team to the playoffs but rather because he was hurt. This will be Wentz' first playoff game so for him he has something to prove and as good as Russell Wilson is, over the Last 5 years he is just 4-4 SU in the playoffs and this is by far the least talented team he's had in the Playoffs. The Seattle defense is not what it once was as it ranked 29th this year allowing 6.2 YPP. One of the things that saved this Seattle defense this year was TO's especially Fumbles as they led the league in Fumble recoveries (16). Fumble recoveries to me are the one stat that is pure random luck. Yes it takes skill and good tackling techniques to force fumbles but once the ball hits the ground it's pure luck who falls on it. Philly is on a 4 Game winning streak and yes 3 of the 4 games came against the Giants twice and Washington but they also had a dominating win in their Home Game against Dallas to win the division. This is a tough spot for Seattle to travel east after such a gruelling game against San Francisco. Another factor to consider Rookie RB Homer had a monster game for Seattle out of nowhere last week. Do you think after watching last weeks game film Philly isn't going to be surprised by him this week the way the 49ers were last week. My Numbers have Philadelphia Winning 24-17 as my 5% NFL Wildcard Major Wager.
