The Knicks were blasted last night against the Lakers and expect more of the same here. The Jazz have won seven straight games and 11 of their last 12 overall and they have won seven of the last 10 meetings against the Knicks, including averaging a robust 133 points in sweeping the season series last year. The Knicks are 0-3 on this four-game road trip and once again playing shorthanded tonight. The Knicks are an amazing 23-5 ATS the last 28 meetings and 14-3 ATS the last 17 in Utah, which are hard trends to ignore, but expect the Jazz to win big.

Some see this as a letdown spot for the Badgers after their big win over the Buckeyes, however they have won 15 consecutive meetings against Illinois. Illinois comes into this game off a dominant game against Purdue and feeling good about this matchup. The Badgers have won all seven home games by double figures and they lead the Big Ten in free-throw shooting. The Badgers are allowing just over 60 points per game overall. Illinois is just 1-4 on the road.

This game has all the makings for a low-scoring defensive game for a few reasons. The Heels are a banged-up group and they are struggling shooting the rock from everywhere on the court. That figures to be a struggle against a Panthers' defense that allows just 60 points per game. The problem for the Panthers is they also struggle shooting the rock, averaging just 66 points per game, 300th in the nation. They're 328th in the nation from beyond the arc and both teams are shooting 40 percent from the floor, ranking 283 and 323 respectively. The Heels are shooting just 65 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bearcats are struggling right now, having dropped four of their last six games overall. It begins with their lack of offense and a lot of turnovers. The Bearcats have struggled from beyond the arc and they face a Tulsa team that is playing well defensively the past few games. The Bearcats are allowing just over 68 points per game, while Tulsa allows just over 66. Despite the Over cashing in five straight meetings, look for a low scoring, defensive battle this time out.

1-Unit Play. Take #782 Georgetown (-4) over St. John's (6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Georgetown was flying high and went on a rush after they kicked four guys off the team in late November. However, they have come back to earth with back-to-back blowout losses. That said, I think a lot of that was circumstance. Both games were on the road and both games were against top-tier opponents in Providence and Seton Hall. Also, they didn't have star guard Mac McClung for one of the games and he wasn't fully healthy for the other. I think the team has had time to regroup and I think that they will get back on the winning track. I think that St. John's played over its head in the nonconference. They played a relatively feeble nonconference schedule and their wins over WVU and Arizona were by a combined five points.
1-Unit Play. Take #799 Mississippi State (+3.5) over Alabama (7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Here are two teams that just haven't beaten anyone or done anything yet this season. However, I think that the Bulldogs are the more talented team. They have a slight edge in experience and a major edge on the interior. They should be able to control the paint and that will give them a significant advantage. Also, the Crimson Tide are still getting used to new head coach Nate Oats and the Bulldogs are a little more settled in their system. Throw in the points and I'll bite.
1-Unit Play. Take #805 Marist (+11.5) over Fairfield (7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
1-Unit Play. Take #812 Samford (+5.5) over Wofford (7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
I just don't think that Wofford is as good as they have played. They also play slow and are more of a defensive team than an offensively explosive one. After back-to-back big games against East Tennessee State and UNC-Greensboro I think that they could have a letdown in this game. Samford is better than it has played. I think that they will step up their game here and bring this one down to the wire.
2-Unit Play. Take #815 Kansas (-4.5) over Iowa State (8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Normally this would be an extremely difficult game for the Jayhawks. They never play well in Ames. To be fair, it is one of the toughest venues in college basketball to get a win. The problem is that the Cyclones aren't that good this year. They have no bench and their starting five lacks the top-end talent that they've had in past seasons. I'm sure Iowa State is going to play over its head tonight. But this is still the same team that lost to Florida A&M and has dumped three of its last four games. Kansas has two losses. They dropped their opener to Duke by two points and lost a road game at Villanova - a game in which they blew a significant lead - by one point. They should be able to absolutely destroy the Cyclones in the paint and this one just doesn't feel like the typical Kansas-goes-to-Iowa-State-and-

loses scenario.
1-Unit Play. Take #823 UCF (+8) over SMU (8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
I don't like this Central Florida team in the long term. However, I think that this is a solid spot for them. SMU has played a pathetic schedule this season, and hasn't been all that impressive while doing it. They've lost to the only Top 100 teams they've faced and they have narrow wins over third-tier squads like Vanderbilt, UNLV and Evansville. I don't know that they are set to lay the wood to a Knights team that can defend and boasts good size.
3-Unit Play. Take #825 Seton Hall (+3) over Xavier (8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
The wrong team is favored in this game. I know Xavier is 12-3 and that they have a decent home court advantage. But no. They are not better than the Pirates and I think that this is a terrible matchup for the Musketeers. Xavier plays hard and is a big effort team. However, they don't shoot the ball that well and they aren't going to bully this massive Seton Hall frontcourt in the paint. The Pirates are massive on the inside, with three guys taller than 6-10. They also have Myles Powell, and Xavier doesn't have anyone that can match him on the perimeter. The Pirates haven't been great on the road, but I think that this is a good spot and a great matchup for them to get another win.
2-Unit Play. Take #828 Wisconsin (-4.5) over Illinois (9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Wisconsin is actually starting to play like a real college basketball team. They have gotten things going lately and they will take advantage of their massive home court edge to get this one. The Badgers are going to get all the calls in this game against a bigger, stronger, more athletic Illinois team. The Illini have not been very good away from home and they haven't been consistent at all. I think they will come back to earth after their blowout win over Purdue and Wisconsin should pick up another home W.
1-Unit Play. Take #832 Georgia Tech (+12) over Duke (9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Duke has obviously gotten things going. They've figured some things out offensively and they have won four straight games by 20+. However, they've played a soft schedule and have played the bottom tier of the ACC to this point. Tech isn't anything to write home about. However, they are coming off a blowout win over North Carolina on the road. And they were a lot closer to Florida State (on the road) than that 70-58 final suggests. Tech is an excellent defensive team and I think they can keep this one competitive.
5-Unit Play. Take #836 Boise State (-6) over UNLV (9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
UNLV has won four straight games. But all four have been at home and all four have come against sagging competition. Boise State has a solid home court advantage and they are a different team on their home court. They've won four of five, but are coming off an ugly road blowout at Nevada, losing 83-66. Boise State got swept by the Rebels last year so they have some pent up revenge. Prior to that the Broncos had won seven of eight against the Rebels. UNLV is just 15-33 ATS in its last 48 road games. Boise State is 7-2 ATS as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in its last eight home games. The Broncos are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 and I like them to get it here.
2-Unit Play. Take #839 Vanderbilt (+14.5) over Auburn (9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
Auburn came to play and was able to pull away from Mississippi State last weekend. But I don't know that they are going to have the same level of focus and motivation for this game. Vanderbilt stinks. But they have some guys that can make some shots and they play hard. I think they can make this number hold up.
1-Unit Play. Take #846 San Jose State (+10) over Nevada (10 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8)
I don't think that Nevada should be favored by this much on the road against anyone in the Mountain West. This team isn't as bad as I thought they were going to be. But they are still far from a powerhouse. Nevada is coming off a blowout win over Boise State and they have a date at Utah State this weekend. I think that they will be looking past the Spartans in this game and the reverse line movement on this game is a bit of a red flat. I'll take the points.
