Ton of value on the OVER in Thursday's WCC action that has Pepperdine hosting Loyola Marymount. The Waves are playing at the fastest tempo of any team in the WCC during conference play and after facing a couple of stiff defenses in their first two league games, they exploited San Diego's bad defense in a 85-78 win that cruised bast the total of 143.5.
That game was on the road and now they get an equally bad defense at home in the Lions. Key here is that Loyola Marymount should be able to get their offense going. Lions have struggled to score early on, but have faced the league's top two defenses in their last two games in Gonzaga and BYU.
Loyola-Marymount ranks in the Top 40 in the country in 2-point field goal percentage and defending the paint is not exactly a strength of the Waves.
Another thing is the Waves might not be as invested defensively knowing they have a much bigger game on deck Saturday against St. Mary's.
OVER is also 49-29 in Pepperdine's last 78 home games if the previous game was on the road and 20-6 in their last 26 if they are 15+ games into the season and facing a bad but not really bad team (WP between 40% and 49%). Take the OVER!

The Bears are winless on the road which is why this line is so high. But we like California's ability to strike from the permiter. Shooting 34.6% from long range always keeps this team within ear shot of the opposition.
USC ranks 297th in the country in free throw shooting, which makes them a difficult lay in this price range. Sandwiched between UCLA and Stanford, the Trojans may be a bit overconfident here.

I'll take my chances here with the OVER 215.5 in Thursday's late night action between the Clippers and Magic. I think we are seeing a little lower total than we should because of the perception of this Magic team as this slow-paced defensive team. I just don't see the defensive effort being there tonight, as Orlando will be playing on 0 days rest after a massive upset last night in LA over LeBron and the Lakers.
That game flew past the total of 209.5, finishing with a combined 237 points. OVER is now 7-2 in the Magic's last 9 road games and if they don't bring it defensively the Clippers are capable of throwing up 130+ on them. LA is averaging 117.5 ppg at home this season and the OVER is 31-18 over the last 2 seasons when they are a home favorite. It's also 24-9 in their last 33 at home after a game where they scored 115 or more.
As for the Clippers defense, it's really been hit or miss of late and they have a tendency of not bringing it on that side of the ball against inferior teams. We saw that earlier this month when they gave up 140 at home the Grizzlies and the next night allowed 132 at home to the Knicks. I just don't think it's asking a lot for these two to hit 220. Give me the OVER 215.5!
