Extended rest is a hot topic today for me - especially with how it impacts overs. Overs are HUGE out the gate after an All-Star break, the lack of intensity, the inability get back into game mode right away really makes games go towards the over, not to mention both of these teams were already over teams in the first place. The Leafs have gone over in 5 of their last 6 games with 3 or more days of rest and the Preds have gone over the total in 6 of their last 8 on 3 or more days of rest.
When these teams clash tonight we'll see an incredible pace throughout the entire match-up, even though the Leafs want to play more defensive, they haven't really seemed to figure it out yet, at least not on a consistent basis. Most chances I get I'll be looking to bet the over in leafs games when it's a spot I see fit, this one here makes perfect sense.

Heat are off a home loss and the Magic are visiting South Beach following this on no rest and the Heat are 20-2 at home this season (15-7 ATS) with the only 2 losses coming against the LA superteams!
Heat average a 59-52 first half at home this season, will be extra motivated after such a rare defeat, and against in state rival Magic in the division as well...who most recently beat the Heat in Orlando by 20 points! The heat are 14-8 ATS in the first half at home and 7-3 ATS the last 10!
Jimmy Butler is on the injury report...but there is no way he ain't getting out there and honoring Kobe Bryant the best way he knows how....by going on the court and dominating on both ends! Bam should be fine to go as well as Dragic which only will add to this number that is already off what I had hoped to post as a -1.5 or -2 last night....but the line was taken down!
Heat jump all over the weary Magic and I also would go with the full game spread but don't know if that is where the best advantage is...albeit quite short at just -5 or -5.5
Magic had a nasty 6 game west coast road trip, then came back home to Florida only to get a string of OKC, Boston, LAC, now travel to Miami. They came back from the west coast and lost all 3 games in increasingly ugly fashion...with the Clippers loss being just last night as we mentioned! This is an excellent +EV spot and we shall keep our 5% streak going with our fifth win in a ROW!

There's a reason we're calling this a situational play - I don't have the stats for 2018 or 2019 but I know that in both of those years we saw high scoring games out the gate following the All-Star game, but from 2012 to 2017 the total went over 71% of the time in teams first games following the All-Star break. The St. Louis Blues are a team that you're consistently seeing a 5.5 goal total based off their outstanding defence and their great goaltender in Jordan Binnington. Although they do have great goaltending and solid defence, this is a Blues team that is still finding themselves in high scoring games, trading goals with teams for a full 60 minutes.
As we continue to see totals of 5.5 with the Blues we will look to back the over, and especially out the All-Star break where we see a lack of defensive effort and intensity for a short time. Expect a goal-fest for our 4% look here tonight.

The Ducks have cashed the 1st period over in 9 of their last 10 games. Playing against the Sharks tonight, I think it presents another great opportunity.
