Arizona State is gaining NCAA Tournament consideration. The Sun Devils have won four in a row, three of those by five or fewer points. The win streak has coincided with a surge by sixth man Alonzo Verge. He's averaging 20 points during the streak and that kind of production should continue against Cal. Grab ASU.

Iowa has one of the toughest remaining schedules in college basketball. Sunday’s opponent, Minnesota, is 4-1 at home during Big Ten play. The Golden Gophers have defended their home court by limiting teams to an average of 65 points. Look for Minnesota to take the Hawkeyes out of their offensive rhythm, and lay it.

                SAN DIEGO ST @ BOISE ST. | 2/16 | 4:00 PM EST
Both teams have a plus-3 record on Overs, and San Diego State has hurdled the total in five of its last six games - away and overall. The Broncos average 77.7 points, 33rd-most in Division I, and a rabid home crowd could help them navigate the Aztecs’ league-best defense. An approximation of the scoring in last month’s meeting - 148 points - will do the trick.

The Huskies are playing their best basketball of the season, winning three of their last five and covering the spread in six of their last eight games. Connecticut's strength is its defense, and it owns an 8-4-1 ATS record at home. Memphis is 4-1 ATS in its last five games, the last four without F D.J. Jeffries (knee). I'm expecting Connecticut to grab an early lead, making Memphis play catch-up. The Tigers are 3-4 SU in their last seven games and 5-5 SU over their last 10.

The pressure continues to build for San Diego State as its winning streak is now at 25 games. The Aztecs clinched the Mountain West title with their last win at home, with the fans charging the court and the players cutting down the nets. But there are more games to be played, and this could be the toughest opponent left on their schedule. Boise State has been very successful at home, going 13-3 ATS in its last 16 games. The Broncos blew out San Diego State at home, 88-64, last season. This purely is a situational play for me, fading San Diego State after a big celebration.

The Under is 13-5 in the Sun Devils' last 18 games as a favorite. Arizona State ranks 25th on defense and just 150th on offense, but it does like to run. The Sun Devils shoot just 49 percent overall, 31.8 percent from 3-point range and 68 percent from the free-throw line, which are all below average. California will control the pace with its methodical offense and solid transition defense, especially at home.

Iowa plays fast, ranking 42nd in the nation with the fourth-most efficient offense. However, its defense is 112th. The Hawkeyes' last three games finished with 166, 168 and 172 points. Six of their last eight have gone over this number. Minnesota plays slow with a Top 30 offense that average 76.2 points at home. Its defense ranks 60th, giving us two teams that are far better on offense.

The season has been up and down for the Owls under first-year coach Aaron McKie. Temple's defense has been the strength of the team, ranking 41st in the nation, while the squad is outscoring opponents at home 75.5-68.1. Temple is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four games, while Villanova is 1-3 SU and 0-3-1 ATS. Take the underdog with the better defense in this intense rivalry.

The Aztecs are coming off an 82-59 win over New Mexico in which they held the Lobos to 35 percent shooting. San Diego State has a remarkable O/U performance dichotomy based on its opponents' shooting percentage in its last game. The Under is 16-0 when the Aztecs are a road favorite following a home game in which their opponent shot under 40 percent and the Over is 9-1 when they are a road favorite following a home game in which their opponent shot over 40 percent. The former qualifies here, so we are on the Under.

The Greyhounds, who are coming off an 81-76 loss at American, are getting five points here. This is relevant because the Over is 18-0 when they are an underdog by fewer than 25 points following a road loss, eclipsing the total by an average of 14.5 points. We make the play the Over.

The Maple Leafs are 11-4 SU as a road favorite this season against a team that is scoring on average less per game than they are. Road favorites playing back-to-back games vs. a conference rival that they beat in their last matchup and is coming off at least one day of rest are 12-1 SU. Toronto is in this position here. The Sabres are 6-16 SU as an underdog against an opponent scoring more on average than them. We are on the Maple Leafs.

East Carolina is 0-11 ATS following a loss by at least eight points in which it had more turnovers than assists. The Bearcats have a nice dichotomy based on their opponent’s interior defense. They are 0-7 ATS when visiting a team that averages more than four blocks but 6-0 ATS vs. a team that averages fewer than four. The Pirates have averaged only 3.12 this season. Lay the points.

                            3-Unit Play. Take #834 Illinois-Chicago (+9.5) over Northern Kentucky (2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16)
Northern Kentucky is wrapping up a four-game homestand. They have blown out their last two weak sister opponents and now have to get up for a game against a team that they already blasted by 19 points on the road this year. However, Northern Kentucky had to play without leading scorer and rebounder Dantez Walton on Friday and they were shaky early, falling behind 28-16 to a bad IUPUI team. He may be out again, and if he is then I think UI-C can take advantage. The Flames have some talent and some experience and I definitely think that they can cause Northern Kentucky some problems. I still think that Illinois-Chicago is a little undervalued and I look for them to keep this one competitive.

                            2-Unit Play. Take #840 Connecticut (-4) over Memphis (3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16)
This is not a good spot for the Tigers. This is a young team that is dealing with some injuries. They are coming off a total collapse in Cincinnati in an OT loss to the Bearcats. Now they have to complete their road trip in Storrs against a Huskies team that gets a big boost from the home crowd. Connecticut has won each of its last two home games and their only losses at home in league play were in overtime. The Huskies have revenge for a seven-point loss at Memphis on Feb. 1. Connecticut actually had a lead late in that game but couldn't hold on. I think they are in the right place at the right time today and they should get this win.

                            2-Unit Play. Take #850 Rider (-7.5) over Quinnipiac (4 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16)
Rider is a bunch of idiots. This team should be much better than it is. But that's been the case for three seasons now. That said, this senior class is running out of time and running out of home games. They only have three more games at home and I think they are going to use this one to make a statement. The Broncs are off a sloppy loss at Siena on Friday. But now they are facing a bad Quinnipiac team that already blew them out by 19 points back on Jan. 7. Rider is actually in the thick of the Metro race right now. There are four teams all stuck at the top of the standings, and it wouldn't stun me for this team to break out and win the league title. But this is a must-win game and I think that this group will find a way to get a rare blowout.

                            7-Unit Play. Take #853 Arizona State (-5) over California (6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16)
The Sun Devils are hot. They are looking for their first road sweep under head coach Bobby Hurley and I think that they will get it here. ASU has won four straight games - another first under Hurley - and they have really stepped up their offensive and defensive efficiency as they have clawed their way into the Pac-12 race. This is a veteran team with very experienced guards going up against a wholly inexperienced Cal team. This is Mark Fox's first season with the Bears and it is actually going better than expected. But this is a bad team and he hasn't had a chance to clear the decks and get his own guys in there. They have gotten pasted in each of their last two games and have lost six of their last eight overall. This team has lost at home to teams like Harvard and Boston College, so I think they can fall to a red hot Sun Devils squad here.

                            2-Unit Play. Take #855 N.C. State (-4) over Boston College (6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16)
The Wolfpack are off back-to-back road wins. That's a good sign for a team that needs wins, quickly. The Wolfpack have underachieved for a large portion of this season, but there is still a lot of potential in this group. They have one of the most experienced backcourts in the nation and they finally have all of their guards healthy at the same time. Boston College has been beat up and gotten slapped around for much of this season. And other than sweeping Virginia Tech, they really haven't done much of anything over the past couple months.

                            1-Unit Play. 5-POINT TEASER: Take #820 Michigan (-3) over Indiana (1 p.m.) AND Take #850 Rider (-2.5) over Quinnipiac (4 p.m.)
