    Wednesday, June 3, 2020
    First Post: 6:45AM ET

    Race 1: #4 Clement Legend, #1 Golden Spectrum, #3 Blastoise, #2 Vincy
Race 2: #1 Ambitious Heart, #10 Super Winner, #6 All Best Friends, #8 Travel Datuk
    Race 3: #10 Green Envy, #1 Classic Posh, #4 After Me, #8 Murray’s Partners
Race 4: #9 This Is Charisma, #4 Sprint Forward, #8 Jolly Convergence, #1 Sky Show
Race 5: #1 Right Honourable, #11 Humble Steed, #3 Big Bang Bong, #10 Courageous Dragon
Race 6: #7 Everbrave, #1 Forza Angel, #3 Daily Delight, #10 Prawn Yeah Yeah
Race 7: #5 Columbus County, #4 Super Oasis, #9 Helena Baby, #6 Reliable Team
Race 8: #5 Best Alliance, #9 Rich And Lucky, #10 Charity Wings, #3 Flash Famous
Race 9: #10 Big Fortune, #5 Island Shine, #6 Hardly Swears, #1 Fantasy

Race 1: Old Bailey Handicap (6:45AM ET)

#4 Clement Legend is a four-time course and distance winner and although he’s lost his form of late, he is a proven customer and with his best, he can win. He’s drawn to get a soft run throughout from gate four which should allow him to do next to work in the small field. #1 Golden Spectrum has shown steady improvement since his Hong Kong debut seven starts ago. Latest, grabbing third over 1800m at the Valley, coming from worse than midfield when doing so. He warrants respect against this bunch, especially as a G2 winner pre-import. #3 Blastoise steps up to 2200m for the first time. He’s consistent and though he faces the rise in trip for the first time, he rarely runs a bad race and still in this grade, he can his presence felt once again. #2 Vincy mixes his form but does have plenty of ability. Whether he can piece it all together is another question but if so, he’s going to be in the finish.

Race 2: Staunton Handicap (1st Section) (7:15AM ET)

#1 Ambitious Heart stepped back into Class 4 last start and showed significant improvement. With that run under his belt, and now a better draw, he gets conditions which should see him prove tough to beat, especially as a two-time course and distance winner. #10 Super Winner gets the services of Alfred Chan who is fresh off a Sunday double at Sha Tin. He takes seven pounds off his back here and if he can dictate terms to suit himself out in front, then he’s going to give himself a chance to pinch this. #6 All Best Friends is racing well and did score impressively three starts ago by four lengths. He’s back into Class 4 following that win but has been running well and warrants plenty of respect here. #8 Travel Datuk has drawn awkwardly but does get the services of Zac Purton. Must respect.

Race 3: Wyndham Handicap (1st Section) (7:45AM ET)

#10 Green Envy has taken to life in Hong Kong well and gets conditions to suit here. He’s drawn to get the gun run for Joao Moreira, who, from gate three should ensure he gets every possible chance up on the pace early. #1 Classic Posh remains in Class 4 following a grinding win at Sha Tin over 1400m. Zac Purton retains the ride here and with even luck, he’s going to get every chance to win his way into Class 3. #4 After Me rattled home from the tail of the field to score over this course and distance last start. He’s another who remains in the same grade following a last-start win and if he gets a race run to suit, he’s going to be thereabouts. #8 Murray’s Partners mixes his form but clearly has ability. The draw is favourable and he shouldn’t be too far away with Karis Teetan up.

Race 4: Staunton Handicap (2nd Section) (8:15AM ET)

#9 This Is Charisma has gone close on a number of occasions this season, namely three starts ago over this course and distance with Karis Teetan in the plate when the duo missed by half a length. He hops back up now and from the inside draw, rates as the one to beat. #4 Sprint Forward rarely runs a bad race and gets the services of Joao Moreira once again here. He wears the blinkers for the second time now which he should be comfortable with and from the gate he shouldn’t be too far away throughout. #8 Jolly Convergence has been nothing short of consistent all season. He once again, rates as a chance. #1 Sky Show was impressive last start, making all for a two length success over this course and distance. This is more difficult but he’ll once again, put himself in the race and give himself every chance.

Race 5: Wyndham Handicap (2nd Section) (8:45AM ET)

#1 Right Honourable’s last run in Class 4 yielded a win and since then he has been relatively competitive up in grade. He steps back in class now and with Chad Schofield hopping up again, he shapes as the leading player. #11 Humble Steed is searching for his third consecutive win. Slight concern about the draw and step up in grade but he is racing well, and with the right run, can take this contest out. #3 Big Bang Bong is a grand campaigner having won four times from 63 outings. He has race experience on his side and does also get Zac Purton aboard for the first time, which alone, warrants plenty of respect. #10 Courageous Dragon is a horse on the up. He’s drawn well and should be able to get a soft run on the speed which will give him every opportunity.

Race 6: Shelley Handicap (9:15AM ET)

#7 Everbrave kept on strongly over this course and distance last start and now, breaking from a good gate, should ensure that he gets a better chance than last time. His sole win came over the 1000m at the Valley and with the right run, he can double that tally on Wednesday. #1 Forza Angel gets the services of Zac Purton for the first time this season. He’s been racing well and this looks a suitable contest for him. #3 Daily Delight scooted up the rail to score handsomely last time out. He rattled home from well back that day and though he will need favours from the wide gate, he does still appear to have a number of ratings points in hand. #10 Prawn Yeah Yeah is next best in a competitive contest.

Race 7: Cochrane Handicap (9:45AM ET)

#5 Columbus County tallied three consecutive runner-up efforts earlier this term before finishing down the track in the BMW Hong Kong Derby. He’s worth forgiving for that run as his form prior at Class 2 level was excellent and if he can recapture that here, then he is the one to beat. #4 Super Oasis narrowly missed at his first run for Ricky Yiu last start. He’s racing well and he is going to be a threat again with that performance under his belt. #9 Helena Baby turned his form around last start to grab third. If he can hold his form out of that run then he’s a leading player among a competitive field of 10. #6 Reliable Team is next best.

Race 8: Lyndhurst Handicap (10:15AM ET)

#5 Best Alliance is a solid galloper on his day though can be quite hard to catch at times. Still, he finished a close-up second last start and off that performance rates strongly to go one better here. The inside gate suits him and the strong riding capabilities of Antoine Hamelin will also favour him. #9 Rich And Lucky is a lightly raced talent on the up. He’s looking for his third win this season, each time with Zac Purton, who once again takes the reins here for his Class 3 debut. He appears up to this grade. #10 Charity Wings is nothing short of consistent all the time and the light weight on his back should favour him here. #3 Flash Famous is a four-time course and distance. He’s drawn a touch awkward but he can make his presence felt with the right run.

Race 9: Graham Handicap (10:50AM ET)

#10 Big Fortune closed impressively at a big price last start and if he can repeat that here, then he might be worth taking a chance on. Ben So sticks aboard again and from the good gate this galloper is going to get his chance. #5 Island Shine is in form for leading trainer Ricky Yiu. He’s still racing well and the inside gate here, combined with the booking of Antoine Hamelin, and should ensure that he gets his opportunity. #6 Hardly Swears mixes his form but his blistering best is very good. He gets his chance to recapture it here and if he can, he is a leading contender, especially as he returns to the city circuit where he is a three-time winner. #1 Fantasy has the tough draw but does have the wins on the board. He’ll be in the finish.

      #3
      Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

      Belmont Park - Race #1
#3 Watch the Dip Cal-bred heads East after running decent enough in a trio of live MSWs for state breds, while showing some speed too, so in a race where the favorites don't inspire, he won't have to freak to play with a group like this; upset special.
#4 Star of the West Rodriguez charge hasn't been out since July so he could need this, but there are several encouraging works showing, first-time blinkers is a stiff 31% move for the barn, and there's a world of upside off just that one start too; very scary.
#5 Vero Sun Uninspiring ML favorite takes the MSW plunge, which won't hurt, and he's been in some key races of late too, but 5-2 is way too low on a horse who has never been close of late, not to mention hails from smaller circuits; tread lightly.
Race Summary Welcome back Belmont! Big Sandy returns and the opener is a race there for the taking, littered with potentially vulnerable favorites off layoffs, and while the pick fits the latter, the price will be worth the risk-reward, and he does take the MSW drop, so give him a look in all the slots, and especially to kick of the early Pk5 as well, since a win in the 10-1 range would go a long way in blowing things up right off the bat.
      Belmont Park - Race #4
#8 Blue Belt Veteran has been in good form for an extended period of time and now goes off the Chris Englehart claim, which is a big 27% angle, and in a race loaded with speed, his stalking/closing gear will come in mighty handy; call to post the mild surprise.
#3 Business Cycle The chalk just-missed while 2nd in his last two, and three overall, and is a Gullo re-claim, which is always a great sign, especially when the barn is 22% overall off the claim, and this is another who will be stalking what looks like a hot pace; big chance.
#13 Javelin Stretch runner has been coming up short without threatening, though he now goes off the Atras claim (26%) and has Irad, so there's some intent here, but he'll also be overbet and hasn't run fast enough to win this in a while; using underneath, if at all.
Race Summary The price will be right on the 8, who has every reason to have a big say today, not only for his new barn who can move them up, but with a race flow that will be perfect for his style too, so play him in all the slots, and especially the early Pk5/Pk4 as well, since he could fall through the wagering cracks, which means a win in the $15 range could play a lot longer in both sequences, especially since we're talking about an overflow 14-horse field.
      Belmont Park - Race #8
#5 Arthur Kitt Price player caught a loaded field off the long break at GP yet ran well to be 2nd, should get a sharp pace to close into, and goes for a Clement barn that's having a banner year; look out.
#10 Value Proposition Expected favorite hasn't been out since July for Brown, which is almost a good thing for this barn, and with just three starts-and two wins-the upside here is scary; clearly the one to beat.
#12 Cross Border Classy sort for Maker just-missed when 2nd in a GP GIII last time, though that was in January going longer, which means this sharp 1m tilt could be a bit short and a prep; tabbing today.
Race Summary That 8-1 ML on the pick seems very inviting off his return, especially since the (unmentioned) ML favorite #11 Hidden Scroll is trying turf and always disappoints, and the 10 is off a long break and the 12 might be prepping, so give him a look in all the slots, and especially the late Pk5/Pk4 as well, since he looks poised for a breakthrough run, and yet won't even have to run much faster than last time to have a big say.

        #4
        Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

        Lone Star - Race #7
#8 Rizzi's Honors Has enough speed to be in the mix early, but she has a mild rating gear that should serve her well in a spot with a couple of serious early burners.
#3 Cherished Might prove best of the pace, but there are some other serious forward players in here that will complicate the trip for him. Not impossible if he outlasts the other pace.
#9 Final Form Looks like the one to beat and can get a pretty nice pressing trip from the outside, but the price is going to be short off a fairly modest local effort last time out, and there are a couple others in here capable of jumping up with a big enough race to land this one.
Race Summary Rizzi's Honors might get a decent run of things from just off the pace, and if she's able to relax just a touch while the other players have at it on the engine, she might get first jump turning for home.
        Lone Star - Race #8
#2 Quebec Won't get much of a price here, but she brings solid recent running lines and some versatility with her to this. Tough from close range today.
#8 Classy Act Shouldn't be too far off the splits in the early going, and but most of her big efforts have come on the main track going short, so this mile trip will offer a test.
#7 Cowgirls Like Us Tactical type might get a first-jump kind of trip with these, but she probably needs just a bit softer group to make a serious claim on the top spot. Would limit underneath today.
Race Summary Quebec doesn't have to have the front end but figures for a good trip right near the splits. Her best recent efforts are better than what the rest in here can offer, and she looks like a logical single in the late-card multi-race plays.
        Lone Star - Race #5
#2 Handsome Honey Might be outclassed a touch with this kind, but the turf form is pretty reliable in a spot where there is one clear horse to beat and then a scramble behind that one.
#9 Caribbean Will likely offer a short number as the chalk here, and though he's the one to beat off recent form, his overall dirt form is superior to his turf form, so if he's beatable in this spot, it's on the turf.
#3 Papa's Boy Leaves LA-bred company, but his tactical style will have him in the mix from the break, and he tends to finish his races with a bit of energy, too.
Race Summary Handsome Honey is an intriguing price player if he's offering double digits on the board, as he steps up off a nice win with softer while moving into the Pish barn.

          Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

          Scioto Downs - Race #1
#1 ROCK THE BABY Has speed, moves outside in, could return quick claim dividend.
#8 IMA JEAN ROCKS Has 23 wins but breaking habit surfaced earlier this year.
#7 ALWAYS WOGGY Caught by pair of longshots, driver’s choice on a triple call.
Race Summary Rock The Baby raced close-up through a 1:24 third-quarter split in comeback try, now she moves from post 8 to the rail in a softer spot. Play 1-7 and 1-8 exactas.
          Scioto Downs - Race #2
#3 WF EEYORE No threat in fast heat, no excuse in this field with better post.
#5 WILL E FINN Blew clear stretch lead at odds-on, gets second-time Lasix.
#2 MATTY WILL Third behind Always Woggy (see 1st race) in final tune-up for this.
Race Summary WF Eeyore was outrun from post 8 in 1:55.2 but will have no excuses in here with a recent race under his belt and several suspect first-time starters in the field. Page chose to drive on a triple call, so play 3-2 and 3-5 exactas.
          Northfield Park - Race #1
#6 BELLESVICTORYSONG Looms forward factor throughout, good value play.
#5 SEAL SNIPER No factor in return, gets serious on class drop.
#3 COWBOY COUNTRY Followed move of winner, ran third after two of faves broke stride.
Race Summary Bellesvictorysong takes on the boys, but she should show speed after time away and hold a tactical advantage. She was a twice-beaten favorite for this 20-percent barn off the claim but will be a much better price today. Play a 5-6 exacta box.

            Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

            Gulfstream Park - Race #0
#3 Maine Pressed rapid fractions last time and should get to the front end vs. these; Vasquez has been riding well and can nurse this American Pharoah colt through a moderate pace. Chance for a decent price.
#6 Mystery Bank Likely to be in a stalking position vs. these and has been 3rd in three of five races; big threat.
#9 Joe Benjamin Stalked the leader, took a slim advantage in the stretch and then was caught near the wire; has had solid efforts in his last four.
Race Summary Maine probably won't have to go as fast to get and maintain the lead and likely will show courage when he turns for home in front.
            Gulfstream Park - Race #4
#4 Aguas Coloradas Has been a consistent closer lately and was 3rd over this course after shipping from Tampa; can stay in range today and will be tough for them to handle late.
#2 Champagne Horizon Was outrun in tough starter allowances in her last two but was 2nd three back and won two right before that; can make a run here.
#11 Breakfast Pond Was a solid 2nd at Fair Grounds last out and horses that have come off the New Orleans turf have been tough wherever they've resurfaced.
Race Summary Aquas Coloradas can carve out a good trip from just off the pace and Zayas can have her rolling in the closing yards.
            Gulfstream Park - Race #7
#1 New Year Hard to knock anything with him as he's won three straight and a much better horse as a 4-year-old; has climbed the class ladder and fits for this price.
#9 Patriot Drive Has been in some very strong races on the turf and can make a late run at this level.
#11 Battle of Blemheim Won three of his last four was claimed by Braddy last out; will be in the mix from the start.
Race Summary New Year is on a roll with three straight wins and will show another eye-catching late kick.

                  # 5 TEJAS TWISTER 12/1
My selection for this event is MORE THAN STATURE. Should be given a chance - I like the figs from the last outing. Gourneau is very serious with this one, wheeling him back almost immediately. TRUE KOMMANDO - He has earned quite good numbers under today's conditions and ought to fare well against this field. Competitive try today now going off Lasix. TEJAS TWISTER - Respectable try today on Lasix. Has competitive early pace and will almost certainly fare admirably versus this field.

                    Belmont Park - Race #7 - Post: 4:32pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $33,000 Class Rating: 75

                    Rating:

                    #15 J'S WARRIOR (ML=9/2)
                    #11 FOREST SPIRIT (ML=5/1)

J'S WARRIOR - Not much pace in this race other than this pony. I like to play horses that faced open company in their last race and drop into state bred races. This gelding fits the bill. This gelding gets a weight break of -5 pounds from last race. Could be helpful in this race. FOREST SPIRIT - Gelding has shown some pace. This shorter trip should be better for him. This gelding surprised everybody by finishing third Feb 29th. This racer brings in a lot of cash per start. I believe he will add to that bankroll today.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #10 INSIDE INFO (ML=4/1), #9 LORENZEN (ML=6/1), #16 STREET DANCE (ML=8/1),

INSIDE INFO - Unlikely that this steed will be at his best today off the extended rest time. Maybe next out. Quite unimpressive speed fig last out at Finger Lakes at 6 furlongs. Don't believe this pony will improve too much today. LORENZEN - This gelding finished out of the money on Sep 20th and wasn't close to victory last race out either. STREET DANCE - Would have to get more than the morning line odds of 8/1 to play this thoroughbred.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Go with #15 J'S WARRIOR on top if we're getting at least 3/1 odds

                        Gulfstream Park - Race #8 - Post: 3:41pm - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $31,000 Class Rating: 88

                        Rating:

                        #4 COUNTRY SINGER (ML=7/2)
                        #3 BOLD ENVOY (ML=6/1)
                        #2 LUDINGTON (ML=8/1)

COUNTRY SINGER - As the only speed freak in the race, I expect this colt to be long gone. BOLD ENVOY - Horse's last race was at Gulfstream Park in a race with a class number of 97. Dropping a significant amount in class rating this time around puts him in a solid position today. I'm optimistic this gelding will run well today. Last work was 2nd fastest of the day, which tells me he's sharp right now. In the last race, finished ninth in the slop at Gulfstream Park. Will do better in this event. LUDINGTON - Numerous positive 'sensations' connected with this thoroughbred and his barn.

                        Vulnerable Contenders: #1 QUIJOTE (ML=7/5), #6 POSEIDEN (ML=9/2), #5 ASSERTIKO (ML=5/1),

QUIJOTE - This mount hasn't been on the track since May 10th. Not even any workouts. POSEIDEN - Caution must be used since front bandages were new equipment on April 18th. The speed rating in the last race doesn't fit very well in this contest when I look at the class rating of today's event. Mark this animal as a possibly overvalued equine. ASSERTIKO - Tough for this closer equine to get up today. Without a hot pace to stir things up, the lone pace is going to make it awfully hard to get the job done.

                          # 1 ZOOMIN MOONFLASH 8/1
POSITIVE ENERGY looks very good to best this field. Must be worth a bet based on the sire's (Favorite Cartel) offspring formidable win rate - 18 percent. The Lasix change (on Lasix) may spark a return to the track for this filly. Her handler has done soundly with entries going to the post for the first time. HES COUNTRY - Has to be given a chance against this field based solely on pedigree figures. Gutierrez is trying to prove victorious with this horse by bringing him back so quickly. Has longshot potential and could score at high odds. ZOOMIN MOONFLASH - Change in Lasix (on Lasix) may be the recipe to a major improvement. Erickson has a reliable winning percentage of 25 in baby races.
