    #2
    Brian Nadeau's Daily Picks

    Canterbury Park - Race #3
#5 Minnesota Lucky Tampa invader just wired open N2L foes in extremely fast time, and a repeat laps this group, plus he could be a Lone F here, has a huge tactical edge on the ML favorite regardless, and a bit recency one too; too tough for these.
#7 Stitzy Aforementioned ML favorite and the best of the locals would have a fighting chance if he runs back to the state-bred N2L win here last August, but he hasn't been seen since, and will be well behind the pick early; second-best.
#8 El Tizar Tricky read tries the turf for the first time, and he gets some bonus points for having a sharp comeback here earlier in the month, plus his pedigree says he can do this, though his lone route try wasn't too sharp; tabbing today.
Race Summary You won't get rich on the 5 but if you sniff that 5-2 ML play him aggressively to win and place, though you can get some added value by singling him to kick off the 10% takeout Pk5, since that's not a move the betting public likes to endorse, but this looks like the right spot for it, since 'Lucky just looks much too good for these locals.
    Canterbury Park - Race #4
#6 Lila's Lucky Lady Price player legged up against better at WRD, has a 2-for-7 local mark, and did well to draw outside, as rallying wide in the lane has proven to be effective so far at the meet; upset special.
#3 Awesome Sunset Dangerous sort exits a fine 2nd o the turf at Hou and has some good main track for to fall back on, plus he goes back to Bravo, who is 3-for-9 at the meet and knows him well; plenty scary.
#4 Wild Munny Dicey ML favorite will like the company after facing better at FG, though she pulled up in her last, so sure, her best wins this, but what you get today is a total guessing game; tread lightly.
Race Summary The price will be right on the 6, who has some positives and doesn't meet any great shakes, especially if the 4 is indeed off form, so play her in all the slots, and especially the 10% takeout Pk5 as well, since she could fall through the wagering cracks, which means a win would add plenty of value to the sequence.
    Canterbury Park - Race #7
#1 Shades of Victory Longshot will be ignored on the tote but if you dig and see his lone turf race showing was in a GIII at Del Mar last August, and he wasn't disgraced either when 6th, so at a big number, with a heavy very favorite who doesn't have to win, he could blow this up; bombs away.
#4 Chief Cicatriz Odds-on ML favorite is a GIII winner and 14-22 lifetime, so he wants to beat you, but he's also never been on turf, hasn't been out since February, and clearly is using this as a prep, not to mention he'll be about 3-5, so there are reasons to try and beat him; backwheel time.
#6 League of Shadows Pace presser did well to draw outside some of the other gas and has a big turf race showing, so while he's been doing the dirt thing he can clearly handle the grass, though dueling with the chalk throughout and holding on late won't be easy; may come unglued in the lane.
Race Summary You have to be very imaginative to come up with the 1, but he'll be off the pace and fit the race flow, the favorite has some knocks, and, as important as anything, you're getting a ton of risk-reward to take a stab, so give him a look in the win pool at 12-1 or better, and toss him in to end the 10% takeout Pk5 too, since anyone on a budget will be singling the 4, which means a win at $30 or so would really blow it up at the end of the sequence.

      #3
      Brian W. Spencer's Daily Picks

      Mountaineer - Race #1
#6 Lion Lion Doesn't meet anything at all in here, and if his turf debut last out can be taken at face value, he might be the right one tonight.
#1 Macho Mania Looks like the one to beat off the Florida turf form from last year, but the comeback run was really dull, and he'll take his share of cash here.
#10 Wallet Has never tried two turns on the turf, but his early speed will keep him in the mix from the gate, and he has stayed a route trip in the past.
Race Summary Lion Lion ran a big one in his turf debut last time out, and though the waters are deeper tonight, the price should be fair to see if he can back that run up.
      Mountaineer - Race #2
#8 Distortedatthebar Makes the turf debut here with with some solid form over the last year, and he should be able to get a really good trip near the front on the stretchout.
#7 Judah Just missed with better last time out, and he figures to spy the pace from close range in the early stages. The one to beat at a short price.
#9 No Way Never Stretches out off a decent Tampa turf sprint try, but the 0-for-8 record on the lawn is still an issue. Best stuff keeps him in the mix, but demand a fair price.
Race Summary Distortedatthebar can trip out from close range here, and if he handles the turf, his form doesn't seem far off what it might take to win here at a price.
      Mountaineer - Race #3
#3 Wolfblade Has never run a bad one on the lawn, and she should be able to get a really perfect tracking trip behind a decent set of splits. First jump gets her home?
#8 Walkin Princess Dangerous early speed on the stretchout makes her the one to beat, but she will meet some other pace in here tonight and might be vulnerable late.
#5 Nellysford Positional pace doesn't always kick home with a ton of energy, but the move back to the turf might wake her up.
Race Summary Wolfblade just finished ahead of Walkin Princess when they met going short last out, and though 'Princess is better going long, she's going to meet a touch of other speed, and Wolfblade may be able to take advantage of that from close range.

        Frank Carulli's Daily Picks

        Hoosier Park - Race #1
#2 MOSCATO Unwound too late behind well-meant winner, galloped out in front.
#3 SWEET TALKIN GYPSY Showed pulse in the morning for seasonal debut.
#6 ALWAYS A DIVA Chased loose leader and gave way in useful first start.
Race Summary Moscato should live up to favoritism in this field. She paced evenly until the stretch last week from a ground-saving spot, then angled out and closed with a flourish in the final sixteenth to finish second. Play 2-3 and 2-6 exactas.
        Woodbine-Mohawk Park - Race #8
#6 CASIMIR RUMRUNNER Latest second-place finish appears better than prior ones.
#10 ROCKIN WIZARD Classy 10-year-old won off the claim but draws outside.
#7 AMERICAN WIGGLE Rallied for third, set pace and ran second in last two starts out of town.
Race Summary Casimir Rumrunner, a 21-time runner-up, showed signs of a breakthrough when he finished behind the 2-to-5 favorite through after a :55.4 back half. He gets second-time Lasix and gets the nod at a decent price.
        Northfield Park - Race #11
#3 ARTISTIC DANCE Bounced back from second-tier starting spot, burst late at odds-on winner.
#5 PRINCESS ROCKETTE Scioto Downs invader seeks third victory in 13 days, gets Wrenn.
#4 MR JUDGE Controlled throughout in comeback win as the favorite.
Race Summary Artistic Dance steps up in class but is worth a play at 7-1 on the morning line. The 3-year-old filly rebounded from a dull effort and surged late at the 1-to-5 winner to finish second last week. Play 3-4 and 3-5 exactas.

          Jerry Shottenkirk's Daily Picks

          Indiana Grand - Race #4
#1 Bribe Gets Joe Talamo aboard for her 1st of the year; ended 2019 with a 6 3-4-length win over N2L Indy-breds and can handle the next steps up in conditions.
#4 Copper Nickel Was a pace factor vs. optional claimers at Oaklawn and won 2 of 3 at Indiana Grand last year, including the Ms Indiana Stakes.
#6 Shacklelackalacka Was an easy winner vs. N2L state-breds to end 2019 and has some good works for her return.
Race Summary Bribe crushed rivals in her last and might not get as much support as she deserves; her last four main-track tries over this strip were good.
          Indiana Grand - Race #8
#2 Silver N Lai Perfect in two Indiana turf appearances and loves being on the front end; Amoss charge is the one to catch.
#1 Memory Bank Has been in some tough spots in his career and was claimed for $40K by the Manley barn; tried stakes foes in a couple after that and fits here.
#9 Applicator Was outrun at Belmont to end 2019 and has plenty of good starts to his career, including many in the upper-claiming ranks.
Race Summary Silver N Lai loves the local turf, can get to the front end and should be difficult to collar.
          Indiana Grand - Race #0
#3 Old Sot Came off a 1.5-year layoff and was badly beaten at Churchill; his debut in November 2018 produced a good 3rd, also in Louisville, and can benefit from this severe drop in class.
#11 Nod to Persia Ran in maiden special races at Delta and had two 2nds and a 3rd in those events; takes a drop in class and can be a factor throughout.
#10 Atlas Moon Has performed well in some races that as much better than this, and a big effort would not be a surprise.
Race Summary Old Sot drops down after he was waxed in a maiden special race at Churchill; fits much better and can recover in this spot.

                Race 4 - Allowance - 5.5f on the Dirt. Purse: $36500 Class Rating: 76

FOR REGISTERED INDIANA BREDS FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON THREE RACES. THREE YEAR OLDS, 118 LBS.; OLDER, 122 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE SINCE MAY 23 ALLOWED 2 LBS.

                RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                # 4 COPPER NICKEL 2/1
                # 6 SHACKLELACKALACKA 9/5
                # 5 MINTCHOCOLATECHIP 10/1
I lean toward COPPER NICKEL here. Looks competitive versus this group and will almost certainly be one of the early speedsters. Has run admirably when moving a dirt sprint race. The average Equibase class rating of 65 makes this entrant difficult to beat. SHACKLELACKALACKA - Will probably go to the front end and may never look back. Sharp jock with handler figures make this horse a very solid pick. MINTCHOCOLATECHIP - This filly obviously likes the distance, going 2 out of 6 in her races recently. Should expect a strong outing with the class drop.

Race 1 - Maiden Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $4800 Class Rating: 66

FOR MAIDENS, THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 120 LBS.; OLDER, 124 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000.

                  RECOMMENDED CHOICES
                  # 6 MONTANA JACK 7/2
                  # 7 STRYKER'S DREAM 6/1
                  # 1 TRE 8/1
I think MONTANA JACK is a very strong choice. Could best this field based on the speed figure - 60 - of his last effort. Is tough not to look at given the company run in lately. Has run admirably when moving a dirt sprint race. STRYKER'S DREAM - He should be given a shot given the respectable speed figures. Gleason has him trained admirably to break quickly out of the starting gate. TRE - If you gander closely, this one has some longshot possibilities. Looks formidable for the conditions of this contest today, showing solid numbers in dirt sprint races as of late.

                    Thistledown - Race #2 - Post: 1:20pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $9,300 Class Rating: 82

                    Rating:

                    #7 ISTILLGOTIT (ML=3/1)

ISTILLGOTIT - Last workout was the second fastest of the day. Definitely on edge for a good one today. The ROI when Machado and Puhl team up is terrific. Looking at today's class figure, this horse is up against an easier bunch than last out at Oaklawn Park.

                    Vulnerable Contenders: #1 PALTARREVENGE (ML=5/2), #6 CHASING THE STARS (ML=7/2), #8 FATHER DENNIS (ML=6/1),

PALTARREVENGE - Just can't play any questionable contender right back after he doesn't hit the board after any long vacation. CHASING THE STARS - This horse just hasn't looked ready recently. Don't feel this runner will make an impact in today's event. That last speed rating was most unsatisfactory when compared with today's class figure. FATHER DENNIS - One should normally not wager on a steed in the next race after finishing off the board following a long turnout. Hard to play at 6/1 odds after the last two showings.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #7 ISTILLGOTIT on the nose if you can get odds of 1/1 or more

                      Belterra Park - Race #4 - Post: 2:02pm - Allowance - 5.0 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $15,200 Class Rating: 93

                      Rating:

                      #9 MISS PINKERTON (ML=5/1)
                      #14 TIZ RED WINE (ML=6/1)
                      #13 SILENCIA (ML=20/1)

MISS PINKERTON - Taking this jockey/conditioner combination is a good choice. If you review the PP's for this entrant, you'll see she has recorded the top Equibase speed figure at the distance and surface. A repeat race right here in this race and this horse has a superb chance to win. Lezcano and his horse make quite a duet. Together they've been winning at a clip of 100 percent. TIZ RED WINE - I certainly see favorable signs for this mount right here. SILENCIA - This mare runs very well off of a vacation. I have to figure that this shorter trip should help this mare.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 DISTINCTIVE FLOWER (ML=3/1), #10 EDGE OF NIGHT (ML=4/1), #1 LUCKY AT JUSTICE (ML=8/1),

DISTINCTIVE FLOWER - This entrant hasn't been on the track since May 30th. Not even any morning activity. EDGE OF NIGHT - This filly hasn't had any recent accomplishments in sprint events. Difficult to play her in this contest. Have to put a question mark next to the recent speed figure since it was attained on a sloppy track. LUCKY AT JUSTICE - 8/1 is not offering enough value for any thoroughbred in a sprint of 5 furlongs that hasn't finished in the money in a sprint event of late. This mare didn't do too much last time. Don't feel this mount will make an impact in today's race. That last speed rating was mediocre when compared with today's class rating.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #9 MISS PINKERTON to win at post-time odds of 7/2 or better

Another scratch for us with Puerto Varas and Americano came in 3rd in the first but Honor This did nothing in the 5th at Tampa. Today I have three races capped from Lone Star. Goodluck.
