ALMOST A STORM - With a solid rider who has won at a formidable 17 percent clip over the last month. This has to be one of the top choices. My choice in this race is WHY NOT LIVE and could score at a price in here. Should go to the lead and might never look back. The average Equibase class rating alone makes this one a definite contender. With a strong 79 average Equibase Speed Figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's competition. CAPTAIN WILL - The average Equibase class figure of 75 makes this entrant hard to beat. Has a very strong record at the distance and surface, which makes me like this gelding. YEAR OF THE MA - Handler has solid win rate (38 percent) at this distance and surface. Has been close up at the wire most every time lately.

Strong return on investment for this jockey and conditioner twosome. Ranks number one in EPS (earnings per start). A solid outing in this event can augment the lifetime earnings.

Followed it up with another lackluster performance. TWIRLING AROUND - Hasn't been coming close at all lately. Didn't come through as the favorite the last two times. Probably won't gain a top finish today either. STORMY DEPENCIER - Finished fourth in her most recent race with a common speed figure. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to win after that in this field.

MASTER RYAN - This gelding should find these state breds easier than what he faced in his last affair on June 14th. This gelding has impressed last two times out posting solid speed ratings. With a repeat performance, he'll probably be victorious. Have to give this beautiful animal a long hard look. In recent races, has posted the best speed ratings on the turf at this distance. Look for this one to go all the way home at some decent odds in this race. Ran fourth in last race, but not more than 5 from the lead at the wire. This horse has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 84 to 90 to 94 in a row. LIL RICHARDS BELLO - When this rider and conditioner team up you have to take a look. Prat and Eurton have been fabulous together. I expect a big race from this gelding today. He ran a huge race at big odds when he made his debut on May 24th. COUNT ALEXEI - Based on this colt's recent efforts, he should benefit from this race's shorter distance. This pony coming off a nice effort in the last 30 days is a serious competitor in my book. CAL'S GEM - This mount is racing on the turf for the first time. He should be tough, coming off a second place finish in his race on May 31st on a sluggish track. This jock and conditioner's horses have been generating a positive ROI. Colt was in versus 'open company' on June 16th and should find this group easier to deal with. He has the highest (EPS) earnings per start. Take a long look at this animal. I normally play back maiden winners who were taken down.
