The Phillies have been hitting really well recently and they have the second highest OPS in the league against lefties at .910. Kyle Hart is starting for the Red Sox and he was touched up for five runs in his debut. The Red Sox have the highest ERA in the league at 6.36 and fifth worst bullpen with a 5.89 ERA. Take the Phillies.

Jake Arrieta should give a solid outing and look for the Phillies to stay hot Wednesday against the worst team in baseball. Play the run line at the price of -105.

Boston is 0-11 SU since early this season as an underdog following a game as a dog against a team that has won at least its last two games, with every loss coming by multiple runs. Philadelphia was down 3-0 after three innings in Tuesday’s series opener but came storming back to win 13-6. This is a positive indicator for the Phillies, as they are 16-0 SU as 140-plus favorites before game 97 of the season when they are coming off a come-from-behind win by fewer than 12 runs in a non-series opener. We make Philadelphia the play.

5 Unit Play. Take #705 Over 215 Philadelphia vs Boston (6:30p.m., Wednesday August 19 TNT) Game #1 the Boston Celtics won 109-101 but fell short on the 'Over' but tonight I see more offense being produced by both. The Celtics not only won that game but lost Gordon Hayward but the C's are a deep team and offense will come from key bench players. The Sixers are 10-1 O/U following a SU loss and the Sixers are 11-2 O/U after allowing 100 points or more in their last game. The Celtics are 10-4-1 O/U as a favorite and we continue to cash NBA Playoff tickets.

Game 1 got the 228 points despite neither team hitting 35 percent of its 3-pointers and the Mavs' Kristaps Porzingis getting ejected in the third quarter. Presumably, Porzingis will play this whole game Wednesday, and considering these are among the two best shooting teams in basketball, odds are at least one of them is going to have a better night from behind the arc. The argument against the Over in any game in this series is Luka Doncic struggling against the incredible Clippers' wing defenders. He scored 42 points in Game 1. He'll have to work for his points, but he's getting them.

If the Jazz couldn't cover this spread with Donovan Mitchell scoring 57 points in Game 1, what happens when he falls back down to around 27 in Game 2? Where do the 30 points or so they're going to lose come from with Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic out? Utah would need either a monster game from someone like Jordan Clarkson or Georges Niang or unpredictably strong 3-point shooting to keep up with the Nuggets at this stage.

Pittsburgh battled the heavily favored Indians gamely on Tuesday but lost 6-3 in extra innings. The Pirates have not recovered well from close games, as they are 0-17 SU as underdogs of more than 120 after a contest that was tied at the end of the sixth inning and is not a series opener. The Indians are a focused 7-0 SU as road favorites following a game as a favorite in which they played extra innings, scoring 70 runs in those seven contests. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Pittsburgh is 0-9 SU in franchise history as an underdog of more than 130 with Steven Brault when it lost his previous start. The Indians are the play.

The Athletics were thoroughly embarrassed by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, and this is a positive indicator. Oakland is 13-0 SU as a home 140-plus favorite after a game in which it did not score after the third inning. Also, the A’s are 16-0 SU as 130-plus favorites before their 90th contest of the season when they are coming off a game as road favorites in which they had six or fewer hits, winning by an average of 5.19 runs. Yes, Merrill Kelly has been excellent of late, but Arizona is 0-7 SU as a road underdog when it won its starter's last two outings. We make Oakland the play.

Since last September, the Dodgers are 16-0 SU as visitors when the home opponent's starter has an ERA higher than 3.30. Also, Los Angeles is 14-0 SU as a 200-plus favorite following a home game in which it scored in no more than two separate innings. The Mariners have adopted a defeatist attitude in this situation, going 0-17 SU as 140-plus underdogs after a non-series opener as dogs against a team that has won at least its last three contests, losing by an average of 4.53 runs. Lay the big price.

The Raptors dominated Game 1 of this series wire to wire and, barring a letdown, there's no reason to expect anything else against a short-handed and outgunned Nets team. Lay the points again Wednesday.

The Nets showed me something in Game 1, and even though they lost (and more importantly, didn’t cover), they fought. I think they still are delusional enough to think they can compete against Toronto. The Raptors can’t shoot as well from 3-point range again, can they? I’m betting they can't. No sleep 'til Brooklyn brings home the cash.

Dallas was going to win the series opener if Kristaps Porziņģis would have remained in the game. He got tossed, and that changed everything. The Mavericks scored only 13 points in the third quarter and failed to cover, too. I was shocked to see that the Clippers had no answers for Luka Dončić. The points are the difference.

I think Donovan Mitchell just scored again! He was unreal in Game 1 and the Jazz still lost (and didn’t cover). How can you possibly expect that kind of performance again? Look for the Nuggets to double-team him more often in Game 2, especially on pick-and-rolls, and make the other members of the Jazz beat them. Go Nuggets!
