Carolina came in well for us Sunday, as we knew the wrong team was favored. Chicago coming off a TNF primetime win against a banged up and discombobulated TB. The Bears played a bit better than expected, but they really still could be a winless team this year. They are not a garbage team, by any means, but they have been getting some breaks this year. They should be on cloud 9, wondering how long it lasts. Carolina comes into the game with different energy. 0-2 and star player gets sidelined for much of the season, ugh. The new coach whipped this team into shape, and they have are now tied with TB for divisional lead at 3-2. They are coming together as a team, and there is nothing better than to be able to back teams with the energy of overcoming obstacles. Carolina comes home and it makes no sense to my metrics why this game isnt over a FG. Moneyline wager is in order because the Bears seem to make a habit of odd scoring and current ML is value. Carolina is a top 6-7 offensive team, if you can believe that. Both of these teams rate identical defensively, while we know the Bears have had troubles every game that fields an intact secondary. Expecting Carolina to cash for us again this week.

You probably think I'm insane for betting the 49ers after their awful performance last week, but this line number is discounting San Francisco a little too much as I make this a true pick'em. I'm excited to see this 49ers offense at full strength with Garoppolo, Mostert, Kittle, and Samuel all healthy and ready to play. Don't sleep on Brandon Aiyuk's ability to bust a big play anytime he touches the football. Take the points.

Baker Mayfield is tough, but the question marks around the rib injury significantly increases the probability of the Browns having to go to a backup QB at any point. My model makes the Steelers -3.3 on a neutral field and -4.9 in a 2020 "home game". When you account for the injury concerns for Mayfield, it's a pretty easy decision to trust the model and lay the number with the Steelers at home.
