The Fighting Illini have several returning starters, including Brandon Peters, who has plenty of weapons, plus four returning offensive linemen. Illinois ranked eighth in the country with 2.2 takeaways per game. The Fighting Illini finished the season playing tremendous defense, allowing just over 20 points per game. The Badgers come into this game with a lot of questions and holes to fill. They are without their starting QB, lost Jonathan Taylor and several pieces up front.

UL Lafayette comes in here having already played a week day game last week so that experience last week will help them this week here. They also get a couple extra days to prepare as last week they played on Wednesday while UAB played a conference game on Saturday and recorded a big win over conference rival W. Kentucky. Note UAB has a Big Conference game up next against La Tech who is right behind them in 2nd in the Conference USA standings. It also must be noted that UL Lafayette hadn’t played in almost 3 weeks when they took the field for that Wednesday Night Game against Coastal Carolina who I might add believe it or not is ranked in the Top 25. UAB is a good team at home, but Louisiana-Lafayette checks all the boxes here as they have a -7 point edge in my simulations, and very strong betting signals from the market data I have access to. Lafayette beat Iowa State 31-14 at +11.5 road dogs earlier this season, and I think they pick up another road win tonight against UAB. Lay it.
