Patriots will show no mercy off B2B2B losses. Expect them to blitz Flacco often.

Best bets for Monday Night Football: Patriots at Jets

The New England Patriots (2-5) have lost four straight games, but now head to the Meadowlands to take on the winless New York Jets (0-8) as big favorites (and the line keeps climbing).

ESPN betting experts Joe Fortenbaugh and Anita Marks, ESPN analytics' Seth Walder and Football Outsiders' Aaron Schatz have teamed to offer their best bets.

Odds courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill as of Sunday (unless otherwise indicated).

New England Patriots (-9.5, 41) at New York Jets

        Patriots -9.5
Marks: Joe Flacco is expected to start, working with a healthy wide receivers group, but that still won't be enough. Cam Newton looked better last week, as if the COVID-19 funk is over. The Patriots should win their ninth straight against the Jets, a team whose focus is more on the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes than winning their first game of the season.

        EDITOR'S PICKS

        Under 41
Fortenbaugh: The Jets haven't scored more than 10 points in any of their past four games. In fact, they've eclipsed that meager total only three times in eight games. And then there's the Patriots, losing five of their past six, and scoring a grand total of 49 points in their previous four games. Look for the Pats to implement a run-heavy attack (third in NFL in rushing attempts per game, 31.6), controlling the tempo and grinding the clock.

Frank Gore over 9.5 rushing attempts
Schatz: Gore has 10 or more carries in six of eight games this season, and the Jets will want to run with Flacco starting at quarterback. Also, the Patriots have a bunch of injuries across their defense, which could keep this game closer than expected and encourage the Jets to run the ball.

Chase Winovich under 0.5 sacks (-134 at DraftKings)
Walder: Winovich has been an absolute darling of our win rate metrics this season, and just a few weeks ago I identified him as a breakout candidate based on both his pass-rushing and run-stopping metrics. But then ... he stopped playing? In Mike Reiss' notebook Sunday, he noted that Winovich has played just 40 snaps the past three weeks, and "it doesn't add up for pure football reasons." Given Winovich's stellar play when he has been on the field, this line is probably around what we might expect if we knew he was getting a full workload. But we certainly can't be sure of that.

And just like Magic – and from an old episode of “I dream of Jennie” the hot girl with the winning lotery ticket appears in a puff of smoke. And you, being NFL and financially savvy use your only wish to know the exact score of one game on the Sunday schedule… and with that, you turn it into a gold mine.
The Jets are back to sitting Darnold and starting the conservative Joe Flacco at quarterback
Flacco has thrown one TD pass and one interception this season in the three games and two starts he has made. He has a QBR of 15.5, 69.7, and 17.3 in that trio of contests.
The Patriots are not going to change their colors nor are they going to attempt to change boats in the middle of the stream.
Neither of these two teams is going to light up the scoreboard and neither have reliable options at receiver and'or quarterback.
            UNDER the TOTAL of 42

My model says the Patriots cover in almost 60 percent of the simulations, so you're getting good value with them at this number. New England has won eight straight meetings, the last five by double digits. This will be its first time facing the Jets with Cam Newton, who won both of his previous career contests against New York. Each of the 0-8 Jets' losses have been by at least eight points, and they are 1-7 against the spread. Expect the Patriots to end their four-game slide in this one.

Patriots QB Cam Newton played much better last week versus Buffalo, up until the unfortunate fumble that cost them the game. The fact that we saw glimpses of him getting back to his pre-Covid self was a good sign for this Patriots offense. Defensively, they figure to make things extremely difficult for the New York Jets, who seem to find new and creative ways to stay in their own way on game day.

                        Rob V: Comp Play

Monday night Football headlines our AFC East Total of the Year. Comp Play below.

The Comp play for Monday will be a totals play in SEC Action at noon eastern on Saturday in the Vanderbilt at Kentucky game. This game fits a nice long term system that has gone under 320-197 which is a nice sample size. The last 4 here in the series have gone under and Kentucky is 18 of 22 under in conference games and 4 of 4 with rest. Vandy has played under 11 of 12 after allowing 275 or less yards and 7 of 10 vs losing teams. Kentucky has a solid defense but are inept on offense. Vandy has gone under in the last 3 and has scored 21 or less points in all games this year. Look for this game to go under,On Monday night football we have the AFC East Total of the Year with 2 different long term systems. See us on facebook to jump on. For the early look comp play. Take Kentucky and Vanderbilt to go under. Rob V- GC Sports
