Both these teams took care of business against inferior opponents in Week 1. Both step up in class here, as this is an important game for positioning in the MAC. I expect points to be harder to come by. While they gave up 31 on the road in their opener, the Bulls were excellent on defense last season and they brought back a lot of players on that side of the ball. Really, their defense was actually pretty good against the Huskies, the problem was that they had to defend some short fields, due to turnovers. Both teams are going to be running the ball. A lot. Look for that to keep the clock moving and the final combined score below the relatively generous number. Consider the Under.

Defending MAC champion Miami (Ohio) opened the league's abbreviated six-game, conference only 2020 season at home against Ball State last Wednesday, coming away with 38-31 win. Miami QB Brett Gabbert was expected to build off a 'rookie season' in which he passed for 2,411 yards with 11 TDs and eight INTs (he was named MAC freshman-of-the-year). However, he suffered an injury early in the second quarter (was 5 of 8 for 76 yards) against Ball St and was replaced by third-year sophomore quarterback A.J. Mayer. All Mayer did was complete 16 of 24 for 212 yards with three TDs and no INTs. Mayer hadn’t thrown a pass in a game before Wednesday but was named MAC East Division Co-Player of the Week on Monday. There is still a chance that Gabbert has recovered enough from the injury in time to start this Wednesday. If not, Mayer will get the call.
Either way, Miami's QB will face a Buffalo defense that just forced FIVE turnovers and returned THREE for touchdowns in last Wednesday's 49-30 win at Northern Illinois. The Bulls needed those defensive "big plays" as Buffalo's offense had a modest 14 FDs in gaining 357 yards. QB Vantrease was 11 of 17 for 175 yards with one TD and one INT with his main target being WR Nunn, who had six catches and one TD (17.0 YPC). RB Patterson ran for 137 yards on 6.8 YPC with two TDs, coming off a season in which he ran for 1,799 and 19 TDs.
Buffalo's been picked by many to win the MAC East this season and while the home team has won THREE straight in this series, I'm taking the big points with Miami-O, whether it's Gabbert or Mayer,

Tuesday CFB Free play. My selection is on the 'under' between Miami-Ohio and Buffalo at 8 pm et on Tuesday.
Both of these teams saw 'over' results in their season-openers last week but I look for a different story to unfold as they meet in Buffalo on Tuesday night. Miami-Ohio is an injury-plagued squad already, with QB Brett Gabbert among those that went down in last week's thrilling come-from-behind win over Ball State. It remains to be seen whether Gabbert is able to return on Tuesday, but regardless who is under center they will face a tough challenge against a talented and experienced Bulls defense that allowed 397 total yards and 5-of-14 third down conversions while recording three sacks in last week's win over Northern Illinois. While Buffalo did put up a whopping 49 points in last week's victory it's worth noting that three of its touchdowns came by way of fumble and interceptions returns. I'm confident the Redhawks will do a better job of taking care of the football here. Miami knows that it will need to pick up the slack defensively with a number of key cogs missing on offense. We're talking about a capable Redhawks defense that came up with a number of big plays when they needed it last week against Ball State, ultimately recording five sacks in the victory. In this early season matchup between two of the MAC's best teams, I'm not expecting a shootout. Take the under (8*).
