I give my vote to WAKE UP JOE here. With one of the top jockeys in terms of profits at the window, don't count this gelding out. Will probably compete strongly in the early speed clash which bodes well with this group of horses. He has been racing very well recently while recording strong Equibase Speed Figures. SAMURAI MIKE - His 80 average has this gelding with among the strongest speed figures here. Well above average win rate at this distance/surface. SPLASH FOR GOLD - Could best this group of animals based on the speed rating - 85 - of his last contest. One of the top win percentages between this jock and handler make this gelding dangerous.

JOE DON LOONEY - Always beware of the longer priced animal when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. That recent bullet 101.6 work shows that this gelding is ready for a top effort today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 SHIMMER ME TIMBERS (ML=2/1), #8 CRASH CORRIGAN (ML=5/2), #3 DETECTIVE BERNARDO (ML=5/1),

SHIMMER ME TIMBERS - Don't believe this mount will do much running in today's event. That last speed figure was quite unimpressive when compared with today's Equibase class figure. CRASH CORRIGAN - Very long layoff, then came back and finished fourth. Hard to expect much better in today's event. Tough to wager on at 5/2 odds after the two most recent outings. DETECTIVE BERNARDO - This colt registered a speed rating in his last event which probably isn't good enough in today's race.

My choice for this event is YOUNG FLINT. Shows strong Speed Figures on average overall when measured up against the rest of this group. Recorded a very strong speed figure last time out. Last time out, this colt was up against a stronger field. THE KUKRI - In fine fettle, and coming back quickly again this time around. Maker has this colt racing well and is a strong selection based on the competitive Equibase Speed Figures posted in route races lately. CONGRATS AGAIN - I think having Vasquez ride this gelding is a smart move. I would back this gelding on the jockey and conditioner numbers alone.

SI MAMACITA - Strong return on investment for this jock and conditioner pair. Dropping down in class figure points from her Oct 1st race at Pimlico. Based on that valuable data, I will give this horse the edge. ORBITING THE SKY - Winless in her last three starts, this filly did win on June 16th at Fort Erie versus tougher competition. A little change in scenery has got to do this horse well. Reading the recent past performance lines, it seems like she likes to visit the winner's circle on different tracks. Rodriguez and Sullivan perform well when they join forces. It's hard to beat a +132 ROI for a jockey and trainer. Ranked at the very top in earnings per race. Another notice that this horse outclasses this field. KISSMEONEMORETIME - I like that most recent race on November 8th at Mountaineer Park where she finished first. Filly shipped to this track and won; now goes for back-to-back wins. That 82 fig this filly garnered in her last race tells me she's a chief player today.

MERENGUE - Finished third in her most recent performance with a substandard fig. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this field. GOLDEN DESIRE - Today's event is 6 furlongs. Hasn't finished in the money in a sprint race in the last 60 days. Not the best of indicators. PLAYFUL UNION - This come from behinder will probably be rolling down the lane much too late to make an impact in this event. A 'performance bounce' is likely to happen for this horse in today's event. May rebound next time.
