College Football Odds Week 13: Opening Lines and Sharp Money
    Patrick Everson

Quarterback Brock Purdy has helped put Iowa State in contention for its first-ever Big 12 championship. FanDuel Sportsbook opened the Cyclones 2.5-point underdogs at Texas.

College football odds for Week 13 are on the betting board and getting action, with a few games of note. At the top of the list, perhaps surprisingly, is upstart and undefeated Indiana traveling to the Horseshoe to face fellow unbeaten Ohio State.

FanDuel Sportsbook provided insights on college football Week 13 opening lines, early line movement, sharp money and public betting for this week's matchups.

    College Football Week 13 Odds

These are the current College football Week 13 odds for the premier games on the schedule, as of November 23.

    (2) Notre Dame at (23) North Carolina Odds
    Opening line
    Notre Dame -6.5, Over/Under 63.5

    Why the line moved
This line posted early at FanDuel, going up Nov. 17, and therefore has bounced all over the place. Notre Dame opened -6.5 and got out to -9, then plummeted to -3.5 and is -4.5 Monday evening. Despite the wild swings, ticket count and money are running 9/1 on the Fighting Irish. The total went up Sunday at 63.5 and is 66.5 Monday evening, with tickets and money similarly in the 9/1 range on the Over.

    (15) Iowa State at (21) Texas Odds
    Opening line
    Texas -2.5, Over/Under 60.5

    Why the line moved
The Longhorns are down to -1.5 on interesting point-spread betting splits, with the Cyclones getting 62 percent of tickets and Texas taking 55 percent of money as of Monday evening. The total is already down to 57.5 from 60.5, with 77 percent of bets on the Over, but 56 percent of money on the Under.

    (11) Oregon at Oregon State Odds
    Opening line
    Oregon -16.5, Over/Under 61.5

    Why the line moved
This storied Pac-12 rivalry is seeing the double-digit 'dog get early attention at FanDuel, where Oregon opened -16.5, dropped to -12.5 and is at -13.5 Monday evening. The total moved from 61.5 to 64.5. However, FanDuel doesn't yet have betting splits on the spread or total.

    Kentucky at (5) Florida Odds
    Opening line
    Florida -19.5, Over/Under 59.5

    Why the line moved
The Gators sprinted to -24.5 at FanDuel by early Monday morning and are -23.5 as of Monday night, with early point-spread tickets running 4/1 and money more than 9/1 on Florida. The total is down two points to 57.5, despite early tickets and money in the 9/1 range on the Over.

    Pittsburgh at (4) Clemson Odds
    Opening line
    Clemson -26.5, Over/Under 55.5

    Why the line moved
Clemson is down three points to -23.5 at FanDuel on Monday night, although 57 percent of bets/56 percent of dollars are on the Tigers. The total opened at 55.5 and is now 54.5 on limited betting, so FanDuel doesn't yet have splits.

    (13) Northwestern at Michigan State Odds
    Opening line
    Northwestern -9.5, Over/Under 41.5

    Why the line moved
Coming off its big upset of Wisconsin, Northwestern opened -9.5 and is already up to -13.5 Monday night at FanDuel, where 85 percent of early bets and 96 percent of early dollars are on the Wildcats. The total is up a point to 42.5, with ticket count 2/1 on the Under, but money 2/1 on the Over.

    Colorado at (18) USC Odds
    Opening line
    Souther Cal -10.5, Over/Under 63.5

    Why the line moved
Southern Cal reached -13.5 Monday afternoon and is at -12.5 Monday night at FanDuel, with ticket count and money both in the 9/1 range on the Trojans. The total is up a point to 64.5 on limited betting, so splits aren't yet available.

    (3) Ohio State at Illinois Odds
    Opening line
    Ohio State -28.5, Over/Under 69.5

    Why the line moved
FanDuel has the Buckeyes down to -27.5 Monday night, a notch below the opening number, even though early action is all Ohio State, which is attracting 87 percent of bets and 96 percent of money. The total initially dropped a point to 68.5 but is up to 70.5 Monday night, with 80 percent of tickets and 70 percent of money on the Over.

    (19) Auburn at (1) Alabama Odds
    Opening line
    Alabama -21, Over/Under 60.5

    Why the line moved
Alabama is up to -24.5 Monday night at FanDuel, where 61 percent of tickets and 69 percent of dollars are landing on the Crimson Tide. The total is up two points to 62.5, with practically all the early tickets and money on the Over.

LSU at (6) Texas A&M Odds
    Opening line
    Texas A&M -14.5, Over/Under 64.5

    Why the line moved
The Aggies opened just a tick beyond two-touchdown favorites at FanDuel, then dipped to -12.5 Sunday night, but are now back up to -14.5 Monday night. Texas A&M is attracting 74 percent of early point-spread bets and 88 percent of early point-spread cash. The total fell from 64.5 to 62.5 and is back at the opener Monday night, with the ticket count dead even, but 94 percent of money on the Over.

          NCAA-B | Bradley vs Xavier
Play on: Xavier -9 -110 at Buckeye

          PICK - Xavier -9
          RATING: 30*
          ROT#: 034
I'm going to lay the 9-points with Xavier, as they take on Bradley after absolutely kicking the shit out of Oakland on Wednesday. The Musketeers beat the Grizzlies 101-49 and had a 53-12 edge at the half.
Keep in mind that game opened at Xavier -21 and was bet down as low as -14.5 at some books. I just think people are sleeping on this Musketeers team. Head coach Travis Steele changed up the offense this year to a more free-flowing position-less look. I know it's one game, but they did assist on 34 of 43 made baskets, while shooting 60% from the field. I mean they scored 100 points with only 2 made free throws.
Sophomore Zach Freemantle led the Musketeers with 21 points (also had 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks). Steele was quote saying this about Freemantle in the offseason. "People are going to be shocked at what he looks like this year."
The other big thing in that win was the effort Xavier showed defensively. Oakland shot just 16 of 69 (23.2%) from the field and the Musketeers as a team had 9 steels and 9 blocks.
I don't know that they can beat Bradley by 50+, but I don't think it's asking much for them to win here by double-digits. The Braves won on a last second shot against Toledo by a final of 61-59.
It's worth noting Bradley scored almost all their points inside (only 5 made 3-pointers). It's also worth noting they lost their leading scorer and point guard Darrell Brown. I just don't think they have what it takes to make a game of it against what to me looks like a very skilled and motivated Xavier team. Give me the Musketeers -9!

              NFL | Texans vs Lions
Play on: Texans -2½ -110 at William Hill

Deshaun Watson is reason enough to back the Texans here. Watson is one of the five best QB's in the NFL right now. But the Lions are worth a fade all by themselves.

The Lions have lost their last three Thanksgiving games. Their best player is punter Jack Fox.

The Lions were missing their two best wide receivers, Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola, plus their top running back, D'Andre Swift, this past Sunday. Matthew Stafford is dealing with a thumb injury. The result was a 20-0 loss to the Panthers, who were missing starting QB Teddy Bridgewater, star RB Christian McCaffrey and have a mediocre defense. The Lions managed just 185 yards and 3.4 yards per play. This being a short week for Detroit doesn't bode well for those key skill position players returning.

The Lions have never bought into Matt Patricia. The Lions have a long and sad history of bad coaches. Patricia can proudly take his place among them. He makes Jim Caldwell look like Vince Lombardi. Patricia would have to win 23 games in a row to match Caldwell's winning percentage. That's how bad Patricia is.

Detroit has failed to cover 15 of its last 21 games and is 4-11 ATS the past 15 times as a 'dog. There's the possibility the Lions fire Patricia if Detroit loses this nationally televised game, their lone prime time game of the year. Lions players probably wouldn't mind that happening. So Detroit motivation could be lacking.

Houston is a highly flawed team. But the Texans remain dangerous - as the Patriots found out - because of Watson. The Texans' 3-7 record is misleading due to the brutal schedule they've played with six of their defeats coming to the Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers, Titans, Packers and Browns. Those six opponents have a combined record of 46-14. Watson should be in line for a huge game. The Lions are 28th in scoring defense. They had just one sack and one QB hit in last week's game against an inexperienced backup QB who dropped back 34 times.

The Texans have stepped up their game and improved morale since the egregious Bill O'Brien was canned. I trust Watson and the Texans far more than Patricia and Detroit especially during a short week with the Lions so banged-up.

                NFL | Texans vs Lions
Play on: Texans -2½ -121 at pinnacle

Thursday NFL Free play. My selection is on Houston minus the points over Detroit at 12:30 pm et on Thursday.
While this line has flipped since opening, I still believe there's some value backing the Texans as they head to the Motor City to face the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Houston has actually looked like a respectable football team since kicking head coach Bill O'Brien to the curb earlier in the season. Here, it draws another favorable matchup against a Lions squad that probably isn't quite as good as its four-win record indicates. Detroit doesn't get after opposing quarterbacks with any semblance of a pass rush and that spells trouble as it tries to contain QB DeShaun Watson and an improving Texans offense. Meanwhile, Lions QB Matt Stafford will continue to play without his favorite target in WR Kenny Golladay. Coming off a shutout loss on the road against Carolina, Detroit should be in line for a bounce back here but its track record on Thanksgiving Day certainly isn't favorable. I believe the oddsmakers have got it right installing the Texans as the short road favorite. Take Houston (8*).

Auburn is talented but every inexperienced. St. Joseph's is more experienced. Knowing that they have Kansas and Villanova on deck, the Hawks would really like to win this one. Look for them to give the young Tigers all they can handle. Consider grabbing the points.

I like the St. Joseph's Hawks to keep this matchup with the Auburn Tigers relatively close. Auburn is coming off a 25-6 season, but it has lost more or less its entire starting five from a year ago.
Additionally, the Tigers have self-imposed a postseason ban in response to an NCAA investigation for corruption and fraud, so how focused are the players, and can they motivate themselves knowing they won't be competing in any type of postseason tournament?
Sure, St. Joseph’s was only 6-26 last season, but it returns most of its starters, among them senior Ryan Daly, who was the leading scorer in the A-10 last season. The Hawks experience should come well handy here, and I like them to cover the number.
                          Free pick on St. Josephs.

NFL | Washington Football Team vs Cowboys
Play on: Cowboys -165 at William Hill

The set-up: If you don't mind laying the price, I think that Dallas on the "money-line" is worth a second look on Thursday afternoon. This is a revenge spot after a poor setback in Washington earlier in the year. It's a huge game as far as the standings are concerned in the NL "L-East." The Cowboys enter off a big win over Minnesota and there's no reason not to think they can't carry that momentum over here at home.
The picks: The short week favors the home side as well. The Washington Football team beat the Bengals 20-9 at home. Alex Smith earned an important victory, but Washington is still 0-4 against the spread on the road this year. As mentioned off the top, I think the Cowboys on the money-line is worth a second look on Thursday afternoon.
This is a 1* FREE PLAY on the COWBOYS MONEY-LINE.
