Northern Illinois is a team that offers incredible value as they are 0-4 SU but covered their last two games by 8.5 and 15.5 points. The Huskies have played the #81 schedule compared to Toledo who is 2-2 having played the #114 schedule. Northern Illinois has outgained Buffalo by 40 yards & Western Michigan by 25 yards!

Clemson is now on a mission, and last weekend vs. Pitt showed it. Everybody focused on Trevor Lawrence’s return, but the play of the secondary and the defensive stars that it got back up front are far more important. I find it difficult to create a scenario how Virginia Tech comes close to keeping up.

Breakdown


- Alabama is a team on an absolute mission right now, as the Crimson Tide rank 1st in the nation on scheduled adjusted points per game (48.5 ppg), 1st in the adjusted margin of victory (30.0 asd), and 1st in overall total offense (adjusted for strength of schedule) at 7.8 net yards per play on the season. That number improved even further last week to a colossal 8.1 ypp against Auburn, a team that hung an L on Alabama last year, as the Tide ran roughshod over the Tigers, blowing them out early 35-6 over the first three quarters in a statement win and covering the spread in the process.


- The glaring problem for LSU in this one is their matchup problems on defense. DeVonta Smith was absolutely electric for the Tide in last week's win over Auburn, blitzing the Tigers defense for 171 receiving yards and 2 TD's. And Auburn's defense is far superior to LSU's. The Baton Rouge Tigers rank an unbelievable 124th in the country on opponent yards per pass attempt through the air, giving up 9.3 yppa on the season. But this number gets even worse at home. In Louisiana, the Tigers have given up an average of 10.3 yppa at home against Mississippi State and South Carolina respectively, teams far far inferior to what they're going to run into here on Saturday against this buzzsaw Alabama offense.


- While Auburn beat Alabama last year, that was in the final game of the regular season, they'd already previously suffered a loss, effectively knocking them out of the CFB Playoff picture, and their #1 QB Tua Tagovailoa was out for the season. The real burning loss last year happened against LSU in Week 9. At that point of the season, the Tide were 8-0 and ranked number one in the country, had a fully fit roster and were six-point home favorites against LSU in Tuscaloosa. Then Joe Burrow did what he did to pretty much every opponent he faced last year, he torched this Bama defense. LSU ran out to an embarrassing 33-13 lead at the half, effectively ending the contest, and Burrow hung 393 yards on the Tide's defense in a statement win. Nick Saban's previous loss to LSU back in 2011 was a very low scoring nip and tuck type of affair that LSU eventually won in OT, and the Tide responded in 2012 with a shutout victory against their rivals. Last season's loss was a lot more humbling however and Alabama have no doubt had this game circled all year in what's sure to be a massive statement game for the Roll Tide faithful here on Saturday.


LSU is nowhere near the type of powerhouse that they were last year, returning just 8 starters from the previous season and are of course without their talisman Heisman winning QB Joe Burrow, who's since moved over to the NFL. Our numbers have this game lined at a raw -36, so there's plenty of value at the current number of -28.5 here. With the added revenge factor for Alabama on top, we like the Tide to do what they do best and absolutely 'Roll' here in a massive statement win against LSU in Baton Rouge on Saturday.

Coastal to their credit is playing an also undefeated BYU team after their big game with Liberty was canceled. Coastal is 6-1 ats off a win of 20 or more and 9-1 ats after allowing 20 or less. BYU just 1-5 ats in December games. Coastal Carolina will be more motivated as a 10 point dog in this game than they would have been as a 10 point favorite over Liberty.
