7 Unit Play. Take #396 Iowa State -6.5 over West Virginia (3:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5)
This will be West Virginia's first game in three weeks. The Mountaineers defense has been stout all season in allowing just 17.8 PPG. Iowa State sits atop the Big 12 standings and can see and almost touch their first conference football title in 108 years. Though the Cyclones allow 23 PPG, they have also faced a tougher schedule than West Virginia and have held opponents to 7.7 PPG below their average compared to the 'Teers at a comparable 8.3 PPG. But here is why Iowa State is the play. West Virginia on the road is 0-3 (1-2 ATS) and is scoring a 17.7 PPG, which ranks 108th nationally. The Mountaineers average 2.1 YPG on the ground and if they cannot run, Iowa State can let loose and rush their quarterback. With the 'Clones 16-5 ATS vs. teams outscoring opponents by 10+ PPG on the season, they win by at least 14 points.
