        CHARGERS-RAIDERS TOP TICKET

        Double Dime Play: Over 53.5

I'm expecting an entertaining shootout in this matchup. The Chargers' defense hasn't lived up to expectations. LA ranks 26th in scoring defense giving up 27.8 points. Losing star safety Derwin James before the season was a cruel blow to the Chargers' secondary, which hasn't been helped by cornerback Casey Hayward having a terrible season.

Derek Carr finally has gotten comfortable in Jon Gruden's complicated offense producing his finest season. The Raiders have an above average offense. They have scored at least 31 points in more than half of their games. This includes a 31-26 victory against the Chargers on Nov. 8. That game produced 57 points and came close to putting up a combined 63 points because a 4-yard Chargers TD pass on the final play was reversed on replay.

The Raiders' offensive line is healthy again. Tackle Trent Brown can keep Joey Bosa from bothering Carr.

Rod Marinelli is the Raiders' new defensive coordinator after Gruden fired Paul Guenther Sunday night. I like Marinelli more as a defensive line coach rather than coordinator. He catches a bad break that his first game as coordinator falls on a short week and the Raiders will be down four defensive starters - strong safety Johnathan Abram, linebacker Nicholas Morrow, lineman Clelin Ferrell and cornerback Damon Arnette. Morrow has been the Raiders' best defensive player the past few weeks. Abram is a far-ranging safety and an emotional leader.

Only two teams permit more points per game than the Raiders, who surrender 30.1. Las Vegas ranks 25th in total defense and has only 15 sacks in 13 games.

Justin Herbert should be able to do a lot of damage with a clean pocket and passing against an extremely banged-up secondary that also is missing starting safety Jeff Heath. He went on injured reserve last week due to a concussion.

I expect Keenan Allen and Austi Ekeler to play. Their injuries are not serious. Herbert has the talent, weapons and weak opposing defense to have a huge game.

                          3-Unit Play: Take 783 Creighton -7.5 over St. John's (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

The Blue Jays blew one at home in a loss to Marquette but Creighton should be a Final Four contender in March. Creighton has seen a couple teams attempt to slow their desired pace and because of it they don't rank highly in this category but they won't likely have to worry about that as SJU will attempt to play at Creighton's pace and that spells trouble for the Red Storm. CU's true shooting percentage is in the low 60s (24th in the nation), while SJU has a weak TSP of 54%. Creighton is on a 9-2 ATS run against teams with a winning record and the chalk in this series is on an 8-3 ATS run. We'll back Creighton on Thursday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

                          6-Unit Play: Take 790 Wyoming -10.5 over Omaha (9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

Omaha has played a tough schedule and now they're in an ultra-tough situation on top of it. The Mavericks are not only playing in the second of back-to-back nights but they're going from the altitude of Boulder, Colorado last night to the even higher altitude level of Laramie, Wyoming tonight. This is almost like the dreaded altitude road trip in the Mountain West Conference when teams have to play Wyoming and Colorado State (Fort Collins) on the road in back-to-back games. Omaha will be experiencing what MWC teams have complained about for years. Omaha is struggling badly at both ends of the floor, while Wyoming has been on fire on the offensive end. The Cowboys have a pair of next level players in Hunter Maldonado and Hunter Thompson and they should flourish in this matchup. Wyoming ranks 26th in effective FG percentage and they're in the top 48 in 3-point and 2-point accuracy. Omaha has dropped 6 in a row ATS and they've covered just 3 of their last 16 on the road against teams with a winning home record. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are on an 11-3 ATS run overall. Tough spot for the Mavericks. We'll lay it with Wyoming on Thursday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

                            1-Unit Play. Take #785 St. Joseph's (+3) over Drexel (6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

I know that St. Joseph's hasn't played in weeks. And I know that this is a tough spot for them, on the road against a Big 5 opponent. But you can't sleep on these Philadelphia teams. They thrive on adversity and I think that the Hawks are going to come to play today. This team took Auburn to the limit and St. Joseph's is a team that I am expecting a bounce back effort from this season after injuries and issues sabotaged last year. I'll buy low with this team.

                            1-Unit Play. Take #787 Kansas (+3) over Texas (7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

I love me some Mac McClung and there is no doubting Chris Beard. However, this Texas Tech team is a long way from a finished product. They got rolled in their one game against a legit opponent, Houston, and they have played a bunch of nobodies beyond that. That Houston game was the only game against a Top 125 team that they've played, and they lost. Kansas has already proven themselves with wins over teams like Kentucky and Creighton and Bill Self is rounding his team into form. I think that Kansas is a little further ahead of the curve.

                            1-Unit Play. Take #789 Omaha (+10.5) over Wyoming (9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

The Mavs have gotten wrecked in each of their last two games, losing by 45 against Kansas and 42 against Colorado. They are stepping down in class here and I think that they will at least be competitive in this one.

                            1-Unit Play. Take #800 St. Louis (-4.5) over N.C. State (8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 17)

This St. Louis team is absolutely legit. And this is a chance for them to prove it. They don't get to take on many name teams from major conferences so you know that this is a game that they had circled. N.C. State hasn't played in two weeks because of coronavirus concerns. I don't expect them to be in peak form here. The Wolfpack also haven't faced an opponent that can punch back, playing three games against weak sister opponents. This isn't a team that I'm high on for the season and I think that they are in for more than they've bargained for here.

                            1-Unit Play. 5-POINT TEASER: Take #787 Kansas (+8) over Texas (7 p.m.) AND Take #791 Seton Hall (+9) over Marquette (9 p.m.)

                            Carpe diem. Good luck.
