                      2-Unit Play. Take #818 Niagara (-3.5) over Fairfield (4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

Niagara has gotten off to a rocky start, losing three straight on the road to Syracuse and St. Peter's. They should benefit from playing in their own gym and I expect a better effort from the Purple Eagles. Fairfield has been a wreck in their own right. They are coming off a rare win, beating Iona on Saturday one day after getting wrecked by the Gaels by 28. The Stags are one of the worst offensive teams in the country again this year and it's not entirely clear what Jay Young's long-term plan is for the Stags. Fairfield won this meeting by 9 at home last year and I can see them doing the same here.

1-Unit Play. Take #820 San Diego State (-6) over BYU (5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

                      2-Unit Play. Take #822 Monmouth (+1.5) over St. Peter's (5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

This Peacocks team is still being priced as if it was just as good as last year's overachieving squad. I don't believe that it is. They are coming off back-to-back wins against Niagara last week. But both of those games were at home and St. Peter's is 0-2 in its only two road games this season. Monmouth has only played once this year so we still can't be 100 percent sure what this team is about. But I do think there is value on them here as a home dog and the Hawks are 8-2 ATS after a loss. St. Peter's is just 1-7 ATS as a road favorite and I will look for Monmouth to pull the upset here.

                      5-Unit Play. Take #828 Rhode Island (-2.5) over Davidson (7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)
1-Unit Play. Take 'Over' 139.5 Davidson at Rhode Island (7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

These are two very good mid-major teams and this one should be a battle. I'm going with the Rams, though, as they've shown a bit more toughness. That, along with the home court edge, should be enough for them. The Rams have played seven games and every one of them has come against a Top 100 opponent. Ignore their 3-4 record; they've played better than that. The Rams are stocked with talent and should be able to overcome a very efficient Wildcats offense. Davidson is coming off a bad loss to Charlotte their last time out, which negates their effort in close losses to Texas and Providence. These guys are good but they are soft. The Rams have a little bit more of a chip on their shoulder and Davidson is just 4-9 ATS as an underdog.

                      2-Unit Play. Take #838 Tennessee (-29) over Tennessee Tech (7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

The Volunteers can really pick their own score here. Tennessee is coming off a 79-39 win over Appalachian State on Tuesday, and that App State team is certainly better than Tennessee Tech. The Golden Eagles have already been routed by 30+ by Indiana and Xavier and they are 0-7 SU on the season. Tenn Tech lost by 24 on Wednesday to lowly Jacksonville State so I can definitely see them getting run here. The Volunteers aren't looking ahead to anything. They've only played three games so its not as if they are winded at all. And I think that Rick Barnes is going to stick with his starters a bit longer because he wants to give them the work.

                      2-Unit Play. Take #846 Utah (-22.5) over Idaho (9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

Once more into the breach. Utah has been a massive disappointment over the last seven days. However, I'm going back to them here. I think that this team is better than it has played. They were up 14 in the second half against Utah Valley but just never dropped the hammer in the second half. I think they'll be sharper here against an aggressively bad Idaho squad. The Potatoes are 0-4 on the year and have been blown out by luminaries like Sacramento State and Cal-Bakersfield. Utah should be able to stumble backwards into a 30-point win here.

1-Unit Play. 5-POINT TEASER: Take #841 Santa Clara (-4) over San Jose State (9 p.m.) AND Take #844 Washington State (-1.5) over Montana State (9 p.m.)

                      Carpe diem. Good luck.

                        6 Unit Play - #838 Tennessee -29 -110 over Tennessee Tech (Friday, December 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM)

Take Tennessee as my top college basketball pick for Friday night. This pick falls into one my top college basketball systems and I have Tennessee winning this game by 34+ points here Friday night. Tennessee Tech has averaged just 59.7 points per game this season while shooting 40.6% as a team and that is against much weaker opponents than they will face with Tennessee. Tennessee will absolutely dominate the boards here Friday night and Tennessee Tech has had big problems with turnovers averaging 18 turnovers per game this season and you can expect that number to increase against this Tennessee team. The Volunteers opponents have shot just 33.6% against them this season averaging just 47 points per game against them and you can expect them to step up defensively again here Friday after holding Appalachian State to just 38 points and Cincinnati to just 56 points along with Colorado to just 47 points this season. Play Tennessee ATS as we move to 13-2 the last 17 days in college basketball

                          7-Unit Play. Take #821 St. Peter's (-1.5) over Monmouth (5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

Monmouth has only played one game this year, a 96-88 loss at home to Hofstra on Tuesday. I think they will lose again here. This spread opened with Monmouth -1.5 and has been bet the other way. That tells me what side the sharp action is on this one. St. Peter's beat Monmouth twice last season and I like them to do it again here. The Peacocks are 4-2 on the season and opened conference play with a 2-0 sweep of Niagara last weekend. St. Peter's is 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games and this is one of the best defensive teams in the league. Monmouth is just 2-5 ATS in its last seven games against teams with a winning record and I think they will struggle here. Look for St. Peter's to win another ugly, low-scoring game.

3-Unit Play: Take 815 North Dakota +8.5 over So Illinois (4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

Next day revengers have been working well during this unusual 2020 campaign and we have one on Friday. North Dakota will be in 24-hour revenge after dropping last night's contest and we're getting a decent amount of points too. While the record isn't good, North Dakota is a grand total of two points from two more wins, losing a pair of games by one point apiece, and they gave Minnesota a run for its money before losing by nine. We expect the Fighting Hawks to hang the number on Friday afternoon. I'm taking the points with North Dakota. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.

4-Unit Play: Take 841 Santa Clara -9 over San Jose St. (9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18)

Santa Clara won't win the WCC but they'll be a player. The Broncos are a big team and they're simply nasty-stingy on the defensive end. SCU ranks 3rd in the nation in effective FG percentage defense. They're holding opponents to 37.4% 2-point shooting (4th best in the nation) and 27.2% from behind the arc. SCU also averages 7 offensive rpg more than they allow, one of the best at denying teams second shots. San Jose has been a disaster at both ends of the floor and already lost by 35 points to another WCC team, St. Mary's, a team with power ratings similar to Santa Clara. The Spartans have been a bust to the bankroll, (0-5 ATS), going back to late last season. SJSU has had one winning season since the 1993-94 campaign and the streak will continue this season. I'm laying the points with Santa Clara on Friday. Thanks & GL! Scott Spreitzer.
