My “Cutting Room Floor” plays are the situations I considered the closest to being worthy of investment but did not make the “final cut” for my official plays today for subscribers. One of the last plays on my cut list for the Friday afternoon card is with Over the Total in the game between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Michigan State Spartans. Wisconsin (7-1) has won four straight games after their 67-53 win against Nebraska on Tuesday. While that game finished below the 139.5 point total, the Badgers have then played 11 of their last 15 games Over the Total when favored. The Over is also 5-2-1 in Wisconsin’s last 8 games against teams with a winning percentage over 60%. Michigan State (6-1) comes off their first loss of the season at Northwestern on Sunday in a 79-65 loss at Northwestern. The Spartans have then played 11 of their last 16 games Over the Total after a straight-up loss. Michigan State has also played 5 of their last 6 games Over the Total at home. Take the Over. My math model favors Buffalo by fewer than three points in this game and the Bulls are a money-burning 1-7 ATS in their last eight neutral site games. Motivation will be an issue for Buffalo, who suffered a stunning 38-28 upset loss to Ball State in the MAC championship game as a double-digit favorite. That loss ruined Buffalo's perfect season (5-1) and it's hard to imagine the players being excited to play in the Camellia Bowl on Christmas Eve. The matchup favors the Thundering Herd, who own the nation's second-best rushing defense (88.9 ypg allowed) and have the front seven to limit Buffalo running back Jaret Patterson. Patterson rushed for 1,072 yards and 19 touchdowns in just six games this season. Marshall head coach Doc Holliday will likely copy the defensive gameplan utilized by Ball State in the MAC title game in which Patterson was held to just 47 yards on 18 carries. From a technical standpoint, college bowl underdogs entering off an upset loss (Marshall) are a profitable 85-54-2 ATS, including 22-5 ATS if they allow fewer than 17 points per game. MAC bowl teams with a win percentage of .833 or greater are 1-8 SU and 0-7-2 ATS, while teams hailing from the same conference are a woeful 19-50 SU and 24-42-3 ATS in bowl clashes since 2008. Finally, Marshall is 12-2 SU and ATS in its previous fourteen bowl appearances so grab the inflated number with the Thundering Herd as Oskeim Sports' Free Camellia Bowl Winner!

Friday NBA Free play. My selection is on Denver plus the points over Los Angeles at 10:35 pm et on Friday. We won with the Clippers in their season-opener against the rival Lakers on Tuesday night but I won't hesitate to go the other way and fade them as they head to Denver on Friday night. The Clips got off to a tremendous start against the Lakers, outscoring them by 20 points in the first quarter but needed to hold on for a relatively close seven-point victory. The big difference in that game was Los Angeles' ability to score down low, outscoring the Lakers 50-38 in the paint and 15-9 in terms of second chance points. I expect it to have a tougher time in both departments against the Nuggets, who will certainly be highly-motivated off a season-opening 124-122 overtime home loss against the Kings. The Nuggets were in that game despite shooting a miserable 8-of-29 from beyond the arc and getting outrebounded by a 54-46 margin. Look for Denver to play with a lot more energy in this one and ultimately secure the victory. Take Denver (8*).

They brought back talent and experience but were not competitive early, losing 6 of their first 8 games. They won three straight games to close out the regular season and I believe they are the better team in this matchup. Georgia State finished strong as well, but I just do not believe that they have the same talent as does WKU. The Hilltoppers are 5-1 ATS (1 push) in their last 7 games played during the month of December. The Panthers are 3-8 ATS (1 push) in their last 11 games against teams with a losing record.

This is a free play (1*) on WESTERN KENTUCKY Kudos to WKU for even making it to a bowl. Certainly, postseason prospects did not appear strong when the Hilltoppers were 2-6. They also opened 0-7 ATS! But they closed the regular season with three straight victories and he we are. We like them plus the points vs. Georgia State in the LendingTree Bowl as WKU brings in one of the nation's best pass defenses at only 170 yards/game allowed. As an underdog of 3.5 to 10 points, the Hilltoppers are 5-1 ATS L6. When this game kicks off, it will have been almost a full month since Georgia State played a game. WKU is 4-2 in bowls including a win last year. Play on WESTERN KENTUCKY
